I'm not saying this type of behavior shouldn't be discouraged/punished, but I'm surprised how many people in the comments think these guys expected to get away with it. Of course they were never going to get away with it, they just thought it'd be funny.
I mean, his other option is to leave and sit at the menu. He's clearly already in training mode waiting for the real match. I don't think he was being a good sport. He's using them lol. The match was forfeited as soon as the other guy spawned so what else is he gonna do?
@@Terribadguy. you’d be surprised at how many people would be making a tweet about this complaining on how their tournament experience has been ruined. We have so many Karen’s these days that when someone does the right thing it surprises us.
Seeing Mat's skill compared to these mid tier players really puts his skills on full display. Insane speed, insane power, insane mechanics. It's hard to get that perspective when both players are much closer in skill at the highest ranks, but here it's just a masterclass. Great job, Mat!
also considering Mat is a top 100 player (i think), it puts the skill of top 10 players in perspective. guys like Mawkzy, RW9, Nass, Jack, ect, are genuinely insane at rocket league.
Don't know if they wanted to cheat right away. I joined my friend and spectated his match in a different tournament. Maybe he saw the reset and thought "yeah fuck it that's gg might as well try to 1v2"

I'm pretty sure they didn't even hope to win, just did it for fun. Now I have a strong desire to do the same, always wanted to get clapped by a pro 1v2 or 1v3

cheating in rl has become almost an "in" thing to do...played a plat tourney last night and lost to 2 s16 gc tourney winners(they had the banner on) and yet nothing after the report....glad you called these bags out. Hell even thanovic didnt call out cheaters in some of his streams going over games in different ranks. He watched a gc (had banner) in gold and of course didnt say a peep about it. Great vid!

hey Johnny, would you ever consider making content focused on helping lower rated players improve their positioning? i think it would be cool to see you analyze gameplay from bronze-SSL and breakdown the most common mistakes positionally in each rank. i know other creators have made similar videos, but i genuinely appreciate your ability to understand and communicate whats happening on the field so much. i need more of your low-level commentary 😭
what actually is the end goal here? cause either they somehow go unnoticed and qualify, they'd just get shit on in front of everyone and its known 1 minute into game 1 that they shouldnt be there...or they qualify and organisers see some no name with a low mmr account is playing so they check replays/match history and find the obvious anomilies...
These guys knew they were never going to win, i can not imagine they actually took this seriously or genuinely wanted to "cheat". If they had been SSL or at least GC, maybe you could make that case, but these guys are a bunch of chumps and are clearly very self-aware of that fact. They are just goofing around and probably are laughing their asses off.
Johnnyboi, what if both teams suddenly pull out a second player? What if your whole 1v1 tourney just decends into madness with 2v2's here 2v3's there. A 4 on 4 for the finale?
They play like the ppl on my champ games, no game sense, losing every 50, dont anticipate where the balls going. No life sense either thibking theyd get away with it 😂

Ultimately this isn’t cheating. It’s obviously not going to end up that the 2 man squad actually goes through if they win so they’ve accepted the loss. I would guess they wanted to have a go at playing someone in a much higher skill level, akin to wanting to play a pro that they otherwise would never have the chance to do

tbh I'd like to join but I know I would get cooked like those 2 did. To be clear I'd 1v1, but being a Diamond 3 barely Champ 1 player myself and having bad internet I know I'd be cooked in the first minute with an opponent like Matt
