Here is my understanding and I’ve been told in my 4th year Social Psychology class. Money doesn’t bring you happiness… I know people will say that’s cap… but hear me out. It brings you momentary happiness, but when the dust settles and your back to your old ways… what you were before the money is what you’re after the money. And, that’s what I’ve noticed in real life too… you can move from a $3K a month job to a $30K a month job. More money… you can pay off your shit live happier right? Nope… all of a sudden you’re shifting right… you got a bigger home, you got a nicer car… but those aren’t free and it’s cutting deeper into your pocket. Greed doesn’t allow people to just earn more and live a modest lifestyle… status quo won’t allow it.
Just saying that most likely lil Yachty was probably happy before the money so he is happy after the money. Budden was mad/angry before the money, he is mad/angry after the money. Kanye was crazy before the money, he is extra crazy after the money.

I respect the way that young man handled himself - no one on this earth can tell your story but you. If you feel happy and blessed every day, then that's it, that's how you feel. He remained calm and dignified about being challenged about it, which kind of proved himself right if you ask me.
I thought during that time Kanye was stupid. I could clearly see the point of Sway during that time. Even going as far to say I should have been focused on building schools and other structures to educate more of his people to become the industry around him instead of trying to make sneakers you can afford to make at the time. When you want to beat the industry you are in, you create a new one from the ground up. It takes years but you start low and not high.
Idk if I have ever even heard a Yachty's music, but he was giving happy if you ask me. Joe couldn't even get him rattled. That is a young man who's grateful for the life he is living. It's rare to see, but a great quality. Misery loves company and Joe was mad he was getting none.

I don't like Yachty's music one bit, but his attitude was right towards happiness. Most people who go from scratch to kings are still dissatisfied with things, angry. It's a good attitude to be grateful with what you have, especially considering how you started. Now Budden, I get what he was trying to say. He was trying to say that in a technical level, Yachty can do better, have a different mentality professionaly and I agree with that, but he didn't deliver the message properly.
I think he was wrong he was judging yachty from a 90s lyrical lense, yachty is more of a contemporary artist, he pushes boundaries with melody, cadence and videography not lyrics. Budden missed the ball on both fields

One thing I find interesting is the interviewers who have clearly been told not to ask or mention something. Still go ahead and ask. These are often people who don't respect boundaries and is also a tell, tell sign of their character. You know what they say about people who don't respect someone boundaries.
Budden is a different animal on tracks, but he's known to be struggling with his own mental too. So he puts it on yacht he can't be happy cuz he never was. Budden got a few run ins with people like that before and he just flips a switch from being calm to aggressive
