Hey guys, you realize that the company behind this is making jobs for people who work with them. Also, it's not taking away as many jobs as you think, because using a tractor specifically is not a job. Farmers do other stuff, you know.
This isn't exactly news. I live on a farm. We've had self-driving tractors for a decade. The only new part would be the ability to do it remotely and more than one at once. But current tractors also cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. I can only imagine these will be even more expensive. No one will be able to afford these, especially with all the cuts and changes to the farm bill in Congress. It's a nice thought, though.
Calvin P Yes but other farmers will implement it to save on labor costs & then you will also be forced to to embrace this technology in order to stay competitive.
Computer scientists are on their way to automate their own jobs with deep learning algorithms or at least most of what they do. For example just recently an experimental neural network was able to create a functional website template from only a drawn mockup, minimizing the number of devs required to deploy a website significantly since you no longer have to code website designs and only code the functionality for website so that they can receive and send inputs
Michael Montano 0_0... "what's next, a drone that has a basic sprinkler system that sprays pesticides." is basically what you're saying. Give them 6 months
every year there are more and more people born , and every year machines like this take the jobs people need. machines like this increase profits for the corporate farmers in the large food corporations. there's very little left now for the average person the average worker. the average working person now struggles for existence , the greater control over food puts more control over us , this is all about the population.
if you make enough million local people desperate all this will get destroyed anyway, to take away all jobs is dumb, greedy and suicidal, they'll do it..but will learn the hard way for sure
I see a lot of people saying that this takes away jobs. This actually create way more jobs as well as encourages people to enter scientific fields. People need to create, performance maintenance and manage these machines.
Indiana here. I don't know of any farmers, though i don't know enough, would care if they worked or didn't as long as the work was being done. Everyone talking about less jobs are also the ones who wouldn't work the jobs that are being replaced. I highly doubt anyone on youtube, would be willing to work a farm job, hell no one i know wanted to work a farm job. And if you really wanted a job, you can go learn mechatronics which is being super pushed around these parts. And even then, people don't understand how farms work, one person does because he knows how many people it actually takes to run them. like christ guys.. chill out.
It should be creating demand for people to get off their asses and learn new skills. These systems need countless engineers to design and skilled technicians to maintain.
HAS ANYONE EVER THOUGHT THAT MAYBE JUST MAYBE WE ARE THE FIRST LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE AND NOTHING HAS EVER EXISTED BEFORE US AND ITS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SEE THE UNIVERSE
Joseph Uranga It takes 1 person to drive a tractor that's pulling one machine that has taken at least 8-20 people's jobs in the past 50 years. In the case I lost you: 1 selfdriving tractor= -1 job 1 Machine on a farm that has replaced any human= -8 to 20 jobs The majority has already been gone.
Hey guys I figured out something the in the word autonomous get this if you take out the u and put an n in auto and the t and put anon you get anonymous so these might be fake to get more money (that’s my theory)
That would make farming Mor efficient, and cheaper, that would make the food cheaper. We could nearly live on free food if it wasn't for the population of humanity on earth 🌏.
First downvote of the year. Making people think this is the futur of agro economie is just wrong. This road is a dead end, consuming too much power for too little result. Size fields explodes, but productivity decline, while puting more intrant every damn year... I can't imagine the amount of energie that would be involved for this. Because, it will just mean less people around to check what is going on in fields, and even bigger field. Little farms, short circuits, is the way to go... Complete opposite of this aberation. Life isn't something you can roboties...
That‘s fantastic!! As technology advances, soon, people no more will be exploited by greedy entrepreneurs or companies. For a future world full of comfort and security: I love technology!!
