Fun fact: At one point in Hardcore Testing, it was renamed to the Silver Crate and also had an updated design similar to the Golden Crate. It was likely that they were going to rework how the Platinum Crate was obtained, add the redesigned model, then add it to the game. But, like most things in the Overhaul Update, it was cut.
It can make a return, but instead of getting buffs for the same towers as golden crate, it can give buffs to other towers like trapper, shotgunner and even sniper making it worth the grind
honestly, after realizing with the amount of gold you get from doing the modes... maybe it was just a way to get players go grind for gold crates without them even knowing
Honestly it doesn't make sense for the platinum to be the name for a skin that's worse than the gold ones, considering that platinum is usually better, it would have been named the silver crate or something
Tbh, the only reason why I collected them all (before they were just utterly deleted and gone from existence) is bc I liked the color palette for them (mostly the crook boss).
if they re-introduced it for 25K coins instead of map triumphs and made the skins for different towers than the golden lineup I feel like it would be useful
since gold is cheaper than platinum in real life, i think it should come back as an extremely expensive but also extremely powerful crate that can give buffs better than gold perks but there would be only towers that are not in the gold crate (ex: accelerator, engineer, shotgunner, militant, etc...) (also even though it would be extremely powerful, it should also be balanced so that you can't do solo hc with only platinum but you CAN solo fallen with only platinum, this would make it extremely good but kinda balanced at the same time) (with extremely expensive i mean around 150000 coins) (you can already solo fallen with engi and support only so dont say that for platinum accelerator or platinum engi it would be too op to be able to solo fallen with only them ,farms and some early game defense ) (platinum shotgunner and platinum militant would be the best early to mid game towers in the game)
Just 1 golden crate is already hell to farm, imagine having to farm for 3 for 1 skin, not only would be so bad to farm but also it would be very hard to balance it and still make it worth getting, tds is not a game about having the strongest tower to instawin, its about strategy with towers with different strengh and weakness
they could come back for different towers with the same quest for them since the games take less time to beat also i think a platinum ranger would be cool to make it rival other dps towers like accel or engineer
@SunkenRealm could you make a video about the theory about more golden skins being added to the game as well as the theory of evolved towers? Love the content keep it up!
wish they kept it in the game and instead made plat skins of the towers not in the gold crate. Imagine like plat outl- i mean ranger with firerate boost
Instead of plat skins giving buffs to towers with golden skins if it gave buffs to towers that dont have golden skins it would be better i think, like imagine plat sniper or plat demoman
