I think the transition between Far from Heaven and Part of Me is brilliant. Like you're deep down and crying and then - bam, she yells at you and it feels so empowering... It's my favorite "transition" and part from the album

I love how Ev songs become so empowering. I mean if you hear Fallen or The Open door there are not song like this. Those albums are more about sorrow and anger and are beautiful. But, since the self-title album you can hear how Amy start to give this message in her songs. And though we still have this anger and this sorrow, we also have hope too now

Great reaction! I was crying my eyes out during my first listen of Far From Heaven, the sheer pain in that performance really got to me... And then I got bombarded with Part Of Me immediately after. 🤯🤣

I had that same reaction with Part Of Me, I was like ugly crying and then bam! NOT ON YOUR LIFE!! But that made me loved the song even more and exacty as you say, it's like I'm not gonna stop believing that there's more to this, than I can embrace my mistakes, darkness and become strong together, Idk its just as amazing as Never Go Back or any other amazing heavy song from them, the bridge just made me explote inside, it's the best thing for me along with the slow reentry of the chorus, can you imagine that LIVE?! I can't wait to listen to that one live, I hope I can hold it together when it does happend.

I agree in a way of sense it's a hard hitting ballad, but Amy is not really connected to My Immortal, she didn't wrote it, she arranged the piano and added that great bridge but Far From Heaven I believe is a thousand times better, because this really comes from the core of her feelings, so she is meaning every word she feels whereas My Immortal she had to give a meaning through the years making it about the fans relationship with them so that song turned into a happier song for her. Still this song is A M A Z I N G! And we can all agree on that too haha

i'm an atheist and i can say that Far From Heaven speaks so much to me too. There were so many moments in my life I wanted to believe that i was not alone, that the pain had a purpose and death was not the end, literally begging to believe, but i just couldnt... I think as humans its in our nature to question if there is something beyond or not. About Part of Me, it is literally my favorite EV song rn! I absolutely love the strings and that haunting outro, it reminded me of Haunted and the Fallen era for some reason.

It's very haunting and definitely has a significant meaning. What's great about music is that everyone takes their own interpretation of it.

As a fellow atheist I totally agree with you on Far From Heaven, and Amy's amazing vocals had me crying my eyes out during the first listen (and many after). I just had to pause before I could properly listen to Part Of Me (because it comes in so abruptly after those last soft words), but it's an amazing song.

Fellow Athiest here! Honestly listening to the song, I began to see it as my own perspective, initially with the title being far from heaven. I honestly interpret it as not exactly "heaven" but as a sense of losing that sense of happiness, paradise, joy, belief of everything okay. Especially with the song being about losing her brother, made me think of my dad who I lost, I venture the song, I viewed it as being far from the nature of past life before something tragic happens which would be your life being normal again. Losing someone is like losing that piece of you will haunt you forever and takes time to heal from. It's truly such an amazing song and glad Amy decided it needed to be on The Bitter Truth!

I stopped believing in God when I was four turning five after the loss of my grandpa. I was told if I prayed enough, a miracle would happen. We still lost him. That’s when I felt abandoned. And then, almost 4 years ago, I was diagnosed with HIV. Once again, I knew there was no one left to turn to besides myself. “Far From Heaven” takes me to those nights praying to God for him to save my grandpa, and “Part of Me” to the moment I “had to be more than my survival”. This album means a whole lot to me.

I'm also an atheist and when i lost my 1 week old baby girl,my mom ,who was a catholic, lost her faith too. She could not believe anymore. I understand Amy's pow because i saw the same reactions on my mom. For me, losing my granma, ma daughter and my mom in a 5 years period made reasure in my belief that there's no one there

I just lost my dad in January. I know I will see him again because he was saved. My biggest crisis of faith wasn't connected with that kind of loss but I can still relate to her.

What u just shared has helped me no end! I have a faith also and I'm at the place u describe. I was listening to the game is over and broken pieces shine...then I began to write a poem about the last church I was in 3 years ago and the lady pastor spiritually and emotionally abused me. I haven't let all the pain out as such. I tried to return 4 times as my Mum is still there and that Pastor is. But it was never the same struggle with trust.

I shouldnt laugh at how hard it hit directly after far from heaven but i did. Like im over here crying my soul out and then shes just like "NOT ON YOUR LIFE" and then my emotions are just ripped out twisted into something else and slammed back in before i even know what happened lol

A lot of people talk about things like movies and books that are hard to read or watch because the subject matter is heavy, the content is heavy and graphic, but I don’t think a lot of people talk nearly as often about songs that are way too deep and too heavy for some people, and this would definitely be one of those songs like you have to be in a really good mindset to be able to handle a song as dark as this and after over 20 years of evanescence, Amy has manifested an incredible amount of talent and passion for writing the most elegant and relatable of lyrics that reach so many people at a deep level

Funny thing is it was not on the album. Amy wasn't going to have a ballet on it. But one day the band heard Amy working on it and they told her it has to be on the album. It was to good not to be. They forced her:)

Far from heaven is the only song in this album I cannot listen to properly, and it is all because of just how hard it hits. I've felt strong about songs before, but that one just made me cry and feel like I really did lose a lot over the years. It really hurts to hear for me, which is a shame because it is so beautiful at the same time. And then yeah my exact reaction starting Part of me LOL

Within music she well known. But if you asked music fans most wouldn't have a clue who she is or how good a vocalist she is I'd say. Even when Fallen blew up she never really got her due of how good she really is at her craft (vocalist). She special. Singers like Amy don't come along every day.
