I bought Tim Miller's course a long time ago. It's a great system and I was really inspired by the course. It's great to see you working with this concept. Thanks to you I feel re-energized to revisit these ideas.
I love those arpeggios, John Nathan. Have you ever considered making a True Fire course? I'm a subscriber, and I'd love to see you work your magic with that Sound Slice feature that I could slow down to 1/2 speed (I'll need it to learn your solos). Seriously, I'd love to see you do that.
Thanks. I went ahead and bought Tim Miller’s and Martin Taylor’s TrueFire courses using JC40 and paid only $35 for both. It’s a steal. Even if you don’t plan to take the courses, just listening to their playing there is a delight. Highly recommended. Cheers.
Hello from Kansas City, Missouri John. This is a great system for Arpeggios and I strongly recommend Tim Miller's 2-1-2 book and True Fire video. At the same time, I believe it's important to be proficient with all of the most common systems of playing Scales, Arpeggios, and Chords. The reason is, in the heat of the moment during an Improvisation, you don't want to have to rely on only one system. Thanks.
I have his TrueFire course that covers this. it's added a whole new vocabulary to my soloing using scales I've known and have been using for years. For my own selfish reasons I hope not too many people buy it. ;)
Hey John, congrats on your sponsorship with TrueFire. I already have an All Access Membership, great organization. Excellent idea of clarifying specific concepts outlined in the their courses. Looking forward to future videos.
Tim Miller's course really influenced me. For some reason I find his approach easier to play than what you do. As much as I would like to grab your licks I just seem to not be able to. I use Tim's system as a shortcut to more interesting sounds.
Always love these "autopilot" kind of licks whereby you just apply a finger pattern to a scale and hey presto, instantly awesome sounding runs. Dunno why but 2-1-2 string skipping licks always sound so cool.
Hey John awesome content. Tried to find the LSR305's however they are discontinued. Of money wasn't an issue what would you suggest for a home studio. They JBL 305 MK11 are available on Amazon are you familiar with these. Looking forward to getting my helix and digging into your stuff!
Oh gosh Tim Miller... Amazing player in the Holdsworth vein... I purchased that course. What was confusing is which note to choose on the "one" string... (following th 2 1 2 1 pattern) Maybe I missed something...
