This is why right to repair is so important. Saving electronic equipment from the landfill should be a priority. Re-using components and reducing the amount of e-waste is critical to a cleaner future.

Dump refused to let me buy a CRT citing environmental concerns... they sell TVs, but not CRTs... they're disposing of it... so I could buy a new TV... that will cause pollution... that they want to stop. Commifornia (thrift stores no longer sell CRTs).

I completely agree. The problem is recycling requires substantial resources whether it is energy, money, or both and in most cases it is cheaper to dispose of something, source new materials, build anew, and sell new than it is to repair or recycle. Until that dynamic changes, we live in a throw away world.

Great video, I'll never forget my sons face 5 years ago when I got him a second hand broken ps4 that had been dropped from height. Managed to fix it and only cost £30 off gumtree. (Couldn't afford a new one at time) - spent an evening on it and got it working, his face as it fired up and got working was brilliant. Still going to this day 👌

PS4s in the trash just blows my mind. Even as a kid I wanted to keep my damaged electronics but some people just don't care. The slightest issue and they'll toss it, not even sell it for parts. One guy on RU-vid smashed his Xbox Series S (not the new X) because it was giving him errors that are easily fixed. When told in the comments he says he didn't care. He didn't do it for the clout or attention and he wasn't some massive RU-vidr. He was just some 20-ish year old dude that would rather smash his $400 device on the concrete than, I dunno, Google for a fix for 5 seconds. Anyway, a free PS4 is a free PS4 and a parts board is always welcome. Good haul and work. I used to scrap and never foind anything too interesting myself.

I know this is 2yrs old but I found an original PS1 in the desert. Its been there for a very long time you could certainly tell it. Ive managed to fix it too, all except the laser which most certainly needs replacing.

Hi Phil for cleaning you can beter use 20% distilled water and 80 procent isopropanol alcohol. You will get better results also for cola residue and so. 100 % procent alcohol you can use for flux. Just a tip. Keep the good movies going. Regards from Steve from belgium

i do sega gamegear repairs - their usually not bad until you get one that is in the condition like those and you have like 50 traces to replace with backlights burnout-- not to mention the full recap lol

The Data is on the hard drive, all you did was like a reflash of the ROM (Read Only Memory) for start-up, Best thing to do is updated to latest once its been factory reset. can get to that in the menus. up to you if you decide to use/sell on etc. but make sure its clean and no previous persons data on it first.

Have you ever considered using a spray electrical contact cleaner? It might come in handy for large projects and leaves no residue but does take longer to dry than isopropanol.

Hi Thecod3r , I recently came across your channel, was recommended on homepage. I think because I watch a similar channel, called (my mate vince) anyway, I really enjoy watching these types of videos and I’m always absolutely amazed that a human being, is capable of fixing electronics, to such a high level. I’m 39 now and I remember when I was about 15/16 my PlayStation stopped working and after telling my friends, 2 of them said they could fix it, apparently but tuning the Lens. I was like, wow. Then they told me about disc swapping and that was incredible because now we could buy copied games much cheaper and not have to wait for birthday, Christmas etc. Was you kinda like my friends? Started messing about fixing random stuff? Or maybe your games consoles etc? I’m guessing you went to school to study your craft? I just really love seeing people do stuff that seems impossible to the average person. Oh, I just thought, you may be able to help me out with something, if you see and read this comment . Last summer, I remember turning on my 2 year old tv and it was fine. I went for breakfast, came back and screen was black but with audio and there was a white line, going across the screen. Nothing would make it work as normal.Does this sound familiar to you? If so, is it costly to fix? Do you think it’s possibly worth contacting LG, because maybe they’ll help me out, especially if it’s a cheap repair? Anyway, love the channel and I’m going to check out more of your electronic repairs. 👍

I found two ps4 consoles in the skip, one has a dead psu, and the other has a mashed hdmi port, I'm yet to repair them as they are still fantastic consoles.

To be honest I did try and blur it as much as I could see. Sorry I missed that, but that said the person who threw this out should really have removed the hard drive or wiped it. With customers I make sure to block info, but as this was a console thrown out on scrap it wouldn't be breaking any data protection laws as far as I'm aware. I could be wrong though. But that said it's not really that bad, there are probably a thousand people with that same name in the world :)

Do u by chance do ps3 backwards compatible motherboards? I have a 60gb version that I bought that had the blod, I took it apart cleaned it. I also did at home reflow but not with a machine like yours. It turns on and plays ps3 games fine but when I put a ps2 disc in, after the initial load screen it turns off with the long pulsing red light. Do you know what's possibly going on? Would you be able to fix it. I'm a new subscriber but have watched your videos because electronics mentioned ur channel. Very informative videos by the way.

Loot like you made some new friends. The PS4 at 39:15 can have a bad hard disk controller chip when it can't find the hard disk.

@TheCod3r Soooo the reason hand sanitizer is diluted to 60 or 70 percent is because of several reasons; in high concentrations it evaporates too quickly to dissolve the protective cell wall in bacteria, or in low concentrations isn't strong enough to destroy it. High concentrations like 99% it can cause scorching to the cell wall causing the bacterial wall to harden to protect itself. Isopropyl alcohol in any concentration will not kill all bacteria and may do nothing against viruses. The magic number seems to be from 60-70 percent which gives the alcohol time to do its work while it dries. Note that 85 percent of all liquid damage phone repairs, are toilette repairs. Users who were literally on the toilette when they dropped it in. Liquid damage could also be a dog urinating on the Playstation too. Sooo the answer is no... @9:45 your hands are not sterile :( You should be wearing gloves.

Watch 70 years old of iran and indian dirt guy They has never bathed and cleaned themself in entire their life. They sometimes eats raw meat, drink dirty water and do smoking. But until now the iran guy is still alive and has never had a serious illness. there are many more stories of humans who have never cleaned themselves since childhood but have never experienced a deadly disease and can live a long life.

In my neck of the woods, people don’t throw away their electronics, they try to resale their nonworking crap at like new prices, just recently my ps4 died and I was trying to buy a “for parts” console, but the cheapest I found was $250 non working! It’s crazy!!
