As a value investor, I am certainly using this time to double down on high quality, long-term value investments. Once in a blue moon type deal where we get these big blue chips on such steep discounts!

It is quite difficult for anyone to identify market trends. It is advisable to just choose reputable businesses or exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and make long-term investments. Post a sign that reads, "Market drops are good because I can buy bargains," on your wall.

It's always beneficial for a novice investor to hear from someone who has experienced all the bad times and overcome them. Seeing your portfolio turn from green to red might be unsettling, but as previously indicated, if you have made investments in reputable companies, you should stick with them and keep adding to them.

To get the most out of your money, I would advise investing in worthwhile initiatives and, if you don't understand, dollar cost averaging rather than going everything in at once. Additionally, if you're just starting out, I'd advise looking for a reputable fiduciary financial advisor who can mentor and walk you through the process. I refer to people who, like myself, were "Mildred Geneva Hyder."

l Iive in rural Kansas and I retired at the end of October I say retired because I quit my job without having another job and I wasn't planning on going back to work at a full-time job I do have some side income from some passive income from an investment, that's very small that's what I live on I have a small savings compared to most people that retire but I am not touching that savings and I watching it grow but I just wanted to introduce my living situation to you

I didn't jump in it too early I wasn't in down here right here I got my starter at $6 I got a little profit on the top of this candle here it dips down and then I added back so my first trade I got myself up 1,000 bucks on it and then after I was up $1,000 increasing share size ready to step up to the plate be more aggressive capped my position at about 10,000 shares on this and look I mean this was a nice move from 650 up to 750 all the way up to8 we peaked at $8.30 before pulling back now

I worked hard in 2019 2020 21 22 and put some money into the market long term sitting in a pretty nice spot those of you that are newer right now you're paying your dues you're gaining you experience you're trying to lock up some profit but I encourage you to put some away for the long term so if you can use a Roth IRA you put some away tax-free save for your retirement and benefit from you know growth in the overall market and compound interest as it um as it starts to gain

Yes, updating the SS numbers makes a significant difference. Last year’s earnings caused SS to drop one of my very low earnings years for the top 35 that SS uses to determine future benefits. I was pleasantly surprised.😊

How did he go up $1,000/month in SS when 3 years ago he was $2,800? $2,800 is a fine monthly benefit but he’s not earning max taxable amount. Even if he’s post FRA these 3 years I can’t calculate how he went up $1000/month. It’s probably just me but I’m confused.

I was in a similar situation. Three years ago my SS was a little over 2800 per month at FRA. Checked the numbers 6 weeks ago. It currently stands at 3782.00 at FRA and I’ve got two more cola adjustments before I turn 66 and 10 months.

Josh, you didn't lose your train of thought, but I....where was I? What was I starting to say? lol Oh, I remember ! ;) We like dogs here and think you should go for it. Also, we delayed SS per your advice and currently living fine off pension and some withdrawal from retirement funds. We are thankful every day for the sound advice you offer.

My bride and I will have our house paid off in a little under two years - about a year or two before “retirement” enters our everyday vocabulary. However, I am leaving our current housing expense ($2k per month) in our retirement budget just to provide a little cushion for housing expenses as time moves forward. If we retired today with our house paid off, our actual basic housing expense would be about $750 per month for taxes and insurance. We’re planning on earmarking the $1250 monthly difference toward building a fund for the home repairs and improvements that will undoubtedly be needed at some point in the future. The “bummer” to all this is that we won’t realize any sort of financial windfall from paying off our home, which in all honesty I was kind of looking forward to………😕

How do you update Right Capital when you’re past full retirement age but not yet 70? I’ve wrestled with it without success. 🤦‍♀️
