I don't think she told Voll that they had killed the demon king because she realized he was experience actual senility and didn't want to confuse or scare him.

I like how Frieren just loves dwarves and they love her back. They're so quiet that she's allowed to be the talkative friend when she's with them.

20:37 I assume Frieren just didn't want to embarrass him. People with dementia, or those who just forget things at that level due to old age, might feel embarrassed or even more confused if you point it out. Sometimes you need to, and other times it's just best to let it go, chances are he'll remember it again later.

18:28 is the moment Himmel realized he should not confess his feelings to Frieren since she would suffer a similar fate as Voll after he inevitably passes before her...

It took me a bit of time to realize that Himmel thought of Frieren while talking to Voll. The micro expression on his face is soo subtle and yet telling. I think this is the moment he realized to not go all in and become straight forward with confessing his feelings to Frieren. He did not want for Frieren to become the same as Vall - clinging to a vow she took to Himmel. It is even in ED's Milet Lyrics - Even without any promises/vow/oath.

It's kinda odd how some comments think Frieren didn't tell him so he can keep protecting the village. It's been over 50 years since the demon king's defeat. You'd have almost *try* to avoid hearing anything, or live under a rock, in order to not know it happened sooner or later. It's just not likely at all. And that's not talking about the fact that monsters don't stop existing just because the demon king is dead, he still has his purpose to honor his wife regardless. Even though he struggles to remember her initially, throughout the episode Frieren keeps avoiding it, insisting that he's faking being senile. It's denial, especially when she tries to deflect him saying he can't remember his wife as a joke. During that talk next to the cliff, she was directly confronted with the truth of him not remembering something he absolutely should've, the fact that he is actually getting senile, or some form of dementia. You can see her stunned, then processes that grief for a brief moment before saying she'll carry his memory with her as well. Correcting him wouldn't help, and would only confuse/distress him. It's the same with real instances of dementia; it's best to play along, because in the end correcting them only serves yourself, and not their well-being, given they will forget about the correction later anyways.

First of all, I'm a little sorry if my English is a little strange because I don't understand English. Also, please understand if this seems like a long post. In the first half of episode 15, we got to see Sein in action. As Heiter said, Frieren was a very trusted ally of Himmel and the others. I never thought I'd see Stark and Fern dancing. Fern looked nervous at the beginning of the dance, but thanks to Stark, she was able to relax and dance. At the end, it looked like Fern was smiling. Lord Orden gently guided Stark. He was different from Stark's real father. Lord Orden had a fight with his son and broke up with him, and Lord Orden regretted it and said something that would stay with him forever. That's really sad. The 16th story, Old Man Voll, was a sad one. He lost his wife, and now he himself is suffering from memory problems. In modern terms, it would be like Alzheimer's disease. Old Man Voll has almost forgotten his own wife and is no longer aware of his surroundings. However, after Old Man voll and Frieren have a pleasant conversation, as they part ways Old Man voll says that he had a dream about his wife, which gives Old Man voll some comfort. Sein's story after that turned into a joke and I laughed, but... Even so, I knew Kraft was no ordinary person, but I never imagined he was a hero who saved the world.

Frieren didn't tell him because Old Man Voll is, obviously, finally actually falling and failing to age - whether it's just old age and memory loss or something worse. She spared him the pain of having to tell him she's already done it and that he's forgotten more than he'll ever know or remember.

The curse affected them in order of the size of their mana. Stark having little or none dropped almost immediately, Fern fell next and then we lost Frieren. I assume that as a priest Sein was immune.

You can see Himmel's eyes while talking to Old man Voll. Himmel relates to what he was saying. Frieren will live long like Oldman Voll but Himmel will die like Oldman Voll's wife. That makes it incredibly sad.

"shall we dance too" "cakey taberu ~ That scene is so funny to me, Frieren is so cute too 🤣 Also gotta love ep16, this anime really manages to make you care for a character with barely 10 minutes of screen time, the Voll segment is one of my favourites, maybe when they reach Ende they will meet Voll who has just died and reunited with his wife, that would be cute.

Frieren didn't remind the old warrior about the fact that the Demon King had already been defeated, because the old warrior's only remaining memories and life goal were tied to protecting the village from the Demon King's army. If she reminded him that the Demon King was already defeated, the old warrior's sole reason for fighting would vanish. Frieren's silence was an act of great compassion.

When you get right down to it, meeting old man vol is probably the number one reason Himmel never said anything to Frieren about his feelings. Himmel didn't want Frieren to become so attached to him when his life was nothing but a drop in the bucket compared to hers. He didn't want to leave Frieren devastated when he died or even lost and alone like old man vol was.

The whole dance scene was danced from Dancer hired by madhouse that the animat0rs can watch a entire waltz. Just insane how much love and effort they put in. Evan Call just develop a own waltz for this scene but probably Sein become cakezoned. I've read some other comments on other reaction that many says that Old man Voll getting Dementia. I think this is not the case, he is just old and 100 years over the life expectation from a dwarf. You can see in Seins Eyes the reflection of the spell Frieren prepared. oh i forgot, everything is hand drawn. This with the grimoire, she decide to chose between a book making red apple to green and the other is the opposite, making green apple to red xD. This episode for my opinion is the pinnacle where you understand even frieren learned more and more to understand feelings, you see she more and more smiling

Old Man Voll surprise attacked Stark because Stark was saying that he's beyond old and decrepit. So Voll taught him to always be on guard and not underestimate opponents. Defending the village that his wife loved until the Demon King is defeated and the world enters an era of peace is Old Man Voll's reason to live. If she tells him that the Demon King is dead, he may feel like he can finally die and pass away. Frieren doesn't want that to happen, so she doesn't tell him. When Kraft and Frieren were talking about belief in the Goddess, Kraft told her that everyone that knew of his righteous triumphs was dead.

After you're done with this series any chance you can pick up overlord. It's a great fantasy anime but it's pretty much diametrically opposed to Frieren as far as tone goes. Oddly enough the main character is also dealing with a great deal of Los. It is also extremely dark yet funny at the same time. The releasing a movie for overlord soon and I feel you would enjoy the series. It has four seasons out already, each one 13 episodes long. If you want to give it a test run do the four opening and closing songs first. The music is very well done.

Great reactions to these episodes as always! My only gripe is the translucence of the overlaid video. The backdrop is too bright, can see barely anything half the time I get that you have to dance around copyrights, but other reactions seem to get away with much more.

Frieren didn't tell Old Man Voll about the Demon King so that he could continue to carry the will for his Wife, which is to protect the village. Finding new purpose is not an option for Old Man Voll since he is way past the average age of a dwarf. His wife wanted to see the Era of Peace, but she's already passed, so there's really no point into telling Old Man Voll that they entered an Era of Peace. I'm pretty sure after all of the adventures of Frieren (which is in Ten or more years) they would meet Voll and his Wife in Aureole.

Well, actually, the English word "gorilla" is the same in German. It's still "gorilla". Granted, it wouldn't be "warrior", it would probably be "krieger" instead, but you could argue the "gorilla" part is in German.

I think Voll might sense the Demon King is back. It's just an idea always in my head with that scene and he's trying to hint it to her. It's too ambiguous and he's not that senile.

@@Masterfrogg then the reactors might as well remove the original video from the video. Why put it there? . People can only watch the reactors and assume what's happening at that moment. Why am i watching the reaction? Just to watch the person laughing, crying and being surprised on the screen? If you are saying that it doesn't matter then you don't know the essence of a reacrion channel brother. I like her reactions because i can see she is having the same feelings as of me about a specific scene appearing on the screen. I'm not saying to make it fully visible because that can cause copyright issues. Just saying to make it a bit more visible. That's my opinion. And by the way i have watched frieren more than 10 times so i do know what's happening. I have essentially memorised the whole show.
