Wow! I'm amazed at the strength of these trays. I'm tired of cheap trays that crumble apart after a year or so, I'll have to get some of these. Thanks toni 👨🌾
You should release the truck driving on those seed trays as a short - awesome job! We are in Spring here so everything is growing like crazy, but we should prepare for Summer now (shade from the hot sun and deep mulch) Preparation is key to growing more as you so rightly point out.
Great to see you doing a new video Tony, have missed your guidance for far far too long!! Already got the trays pal and agree that they are so robust. All the best for the next vids and future channels. Phil. P.S. thanks for all the one to one help you've always openly given me, your a star man. 👍
Garlic and spring bulbs, yes, but greens don’t work so well if the ground is covered in snow for a few months. I don’t mind the commercials at all. I just wish I could buy those potato buckets here in Canada! Never mind, I appreciate the advice.
One more thing... while I live in Kodiak, Alaska, I have always felt a kinship with gardeners "across the pond" so to speak. So thank you, across the miles, for your enthusiasm for all things gardening
Great video Roobob and nice to see you back in the garden. I have mizuna, spring onions, overwintering onions plus just sown kale and spinach and pak choi 👍👍. Glad you all had a fantastic time at Malvern. 🐝 safe and have a great weekend
👍👍👍👍👍 - Brilliant solution for the Live-streams. I would have loved to watch it (it is still in my Notifications) but I haven't found a block of time long enough to watch it.
Hi Tony great video those trays are brilliant I've seen a few people who are using them might have to invest in a few ,was great to get to meet you at Malvern stay safe and have a great weekend
Hi Tony, I’ve found a company called container wise who sell similar products and even after paying VAT and postage it works out somewhat cheaper than Oakland gardens. Have a look and see what you think.
Chris They are the same containers. And you are correct. They work out cheaper until you add their shipping costs. Oaklands is cheaper on every possible format because there is FREE shipping so if you add containerwise shipping to your order, you will see they are cheaper at Oaklands. I did state this in the video
hi tony ,ill be looking at these trays as last year i bought cheap ones ( being my first time gardening ) hoping i could keep them for atleast another season but they fell apart so badly i had to throw them away , will look into these as they look great. what kind of things could i be sowing into cells indoors that would last ( without outgrowing pots) to be planted out in spring? i thought it would be too soon to get things started now, i was thinking of starting around mid feb??
Tony I planted 4 Joan Raspberry canes. So far I've had 3.5 lbs of fruit. AND lbs more STILL to come... P.s Broad beans ?.when would you plant for optimum plant size for the winter... I've Aquadulce for autumn planting..
In the US, Bootstrap Farmer has high quality trays, etc. I'm never going back. Besides the cracking and breaking, you can get some nasty cuts from the sharp edges.
Great video Tony trays look top notch solid lad🤣🤣 👍👍👍 off topic how did the autopot system suite you. I can't seem to find a follow up video on it mate 🌱
I use paper cups & put them in yogurt cups ; then peel the paper cups & wash the yogurt cups for next time❣️ Short time ice cream cones work & just bury them❣️✌️🍀😢🤗 Hopefully you’re getting better❣️✝️💟☮️
The problem with Lives is, someone asks a question, you (I) want to ask a follow up to the question. By the time it's posted the presenter has moved onto a different topic/question. Seen it happen all too often. Multiple channels. That and in time they just turn into a chat fest between the same bunch every episode. At least if it's 2 separate channels, and the "Live" is kept active, it can be viewed at a later time and comment there. Best of Luck Tony 👍
Greetings from New Zealand! I have to say, it doesn't make sense unsubscribing from a channel just because they do livestreaming. If you don't want to watch it, then don't watch it, but why unsubscibe? I subscribe to a couple channels that do livestreaming, and I rarely watch the livestreams. Some of the channels that I subscribe to also do product reviews, and either I'm not interested in those products, or we just don't get them here, so I just skip those videos too. I also subscribe to channels where the people have different religious views than I do, or different political views, but their info on the topics I subscribe to them for is great, so I just ignore any religious or political references. I don't unsubscibe. Nobody, and no channel, is ever going to be 100% what you want 100% of the time. That is like deciding a friend isn't a friend any more because they take an interest is something you aren't interested in. "Sorry dude, you have taken up bike riding and I don't like riding bikes, so our 10 yrs of friendship is done. I don't ever want to see you again". Ridiculous. Some people really need to put their big boy/girl pants on and grow up! I love your channel Tony, and I'm sorry you have to deal with people like that. But there are a lot of us out there who do appreciate your work 😊 Cheers. Wish we could get those fab seedling cells here! Would love something that!
Just went to check out those trays. Was thinking wow. Great. But when I seen the price I was put off. If I went to wilko I could buy over 300 seed trays for the same price as only 10 trays from Oakland I to get that oaklands would be a lot better and stronger. But the price would really have to come down. I love your videos . And the product does look great. But we need to be what we are spending these days. I grow fruit and veg to save money as well as for fun. Anyone who can afford these trays and want to buy. That's great. But I can not justify the price for me personally. Plz keep the videos coming
@@simplifygardening The containerwise ones are recycled polypropylene and are manufactured in Portugal. Are Oakland getting them from containerwise and are made from recycled polypropylene or direct from Portugal and maybe another material.? Just curious and very interested...Steve...🙂
Outstanding! Cheers Tony. Been looking at seed trays & 30l pots and here you are with a promo! Have you got a supplier for paramagnetic/volcanic Rock Dust and microrrhazl innoculant? (see John Kempf for why)
@@simplifygardening most wont need rock dust, I've had to build soil from scratch in raised beds on on a rubble base with only 3" of river silt added on top of 1yr composted woodchip to fill the beds, only other choice was to buy in 40 tons of topsoil, not cheap!
As new gardeners, these are great points Tony. We tried pak choy last year and it did great, and will definitely branch out this year. We'll check out your other channel. Cheers Tony Jason and Colleen 🌱🌱🌱
Well if anyone was ever unsure if they were strong, its just put that to bed in their mind, if it can stand up to a lorry it can stand up to being thrown around by a gardener
Absolutely nothing wrong with soil blockers if you get the compost right, when you do they are brilliant. This whole video is just an advert, shame really as I usually like your videos.
They all have far too many cells for the way I grow. I buy packs of Wilko 24x cells, preferably end of season with 50 to 75% off, and I immediately cut each of them into four pieces each consisting of 4 cells. I use them for both seed sowing and transplants, either 6x same variety, or 6 different, and the advantage of smaller sections is more efficient use of heat mats and growlights because as soon as those 6 cells have germinated, been transplanted, moved on, etc., their space is immediately occupied by another section of 6 cells. With say 30x cell trays there would be loads of wasted space on my heat mats/under lights until the whole 30 cells had been delt with. My 'flimsy' cells last way longer than 2 years, more like 6, and as they deteriorate I'll repair by doubling up with smaller damaged sections pushed into them. I use this to my advantage in making a saving in plastic labels, with the repair section and original containing different seeds/seedlings, but each piece only requiring 1 label. Earlier this week I found a garden centre selling two packs of really heavy duty/dishwasher safe Garland 24x cell inserts for £1.49 /75p each (reduced from £5.99) so I'm giving those a try for those situations where they're suitable for multiple seeds/plants that don't require heated propagators or growlights.
@@simplifygardening Still way too big as there's no way I'd be sowing that number of varieties that would all germinate and require transplanting on the same day(s), nor different transplant varieties that could be transplanted simultaneously, meaning a waste of now very expensive space on heat mats under grow lights. I don't want to waste a load of expensive energy both heating and lighting potentially 75% of the area of my heat mats and grow lights.
Unfortunately I can't get live streams 'live' It uses too much phone data, so for me I have to catch up later.... so maybe you weren't actually losing subscribers, maybe, like me , the format wasn't appropriate.
Disappointing video really .Wholly dedicated to advertorial/ income content. Obviously you need to make a quid Tony, but don't lose your credibility by endorsing goods that give you "kickbacks" for overpriced products that have easily accessed competitive alternatives! To pay 15 quid for a mass produced simple seedling tray is ridiculously expensive,,,,, even in today's crazy times of high inflation etc.! I really liked the "old" Tony vids ..... but if your future is about advertorials, then i too will unsub, your channel. There are numerous GREAT new channels available now that utilize product endorsements ..... and acknowledge such .... BUT these products are GENUINE GREAT VALUE usually, and represent WIN/WIN/WIN for all participants! I view this promotion as a clear WIN/ WIN and one big RIPOFF!!
Keith I am very sorry you feel that way. However just for reference Not one penny exchanged hands for this video. I truly believe that these trays are value for money. Sure they are an investment and not for everyone but they are economical over the long term as the quantity shows you won’t be buying new ones all the time. It’s just like why some people pay huge amounts more for a bmw when a Skoda gets them to the same place. You do get what you pay for. If you feel my channel is no longer for you then as you say there are plenty of alternative good channels. But in all fairness I ensure that my videos are packed with Free information for all. Occasionally I promote products from a sponsor which is required to help find the channel for the equipment and more importantly the time I invest to bring the content to you. It is not a point and shoot video and each 10 min video takes nearly a week of work. You are not forced to buy a product and although this video is not for you plenty of people have enjoyed it and purchased the product so it was for them. Not every video I make will please all people no matter how much I try. I hope you have a great day
@@simplifygardening Thank you Tony for your prompt reply. At this point I will continue to watch your tutorials, as I said, prior to this latest one, I have appreciated and enjoyed your down to earth and practical videos. I wish you all the best in everything you do in the future.... and especially with regard to your health issues. Kind Regards : Keith Notley.. 🍀
Subbed to your new channel. Might I suggest you call it 'Simplify Gardening Live' or 'Simplify Gardening 2Live' ? Anyhoo, you did the obvious and that's to be congratulated.
I knew I should have become a firefighter, just so I could get the opportunity to test a block of extruded plastic to destruction with a 40-tonne vehicle. (Well, for that and one or two other reasons. But my back wasn't quite up to it, see.)
I just use the 64 cell cheap plastic ones for starting seeds. They're just 5 bucks at the dollar general store and I just throw them away. I don't have to store even more stuff that I don't have room for.
Also I can't understand people unsubscribing for you doing lives. Though I'm not disputing it. Yes there longer but if someone does one and I'm not interested in the subject or don't have time I just don't watch that one.
I watch gardener Scott lives nearly weekly, as a relatively new gardener I like being able to ask questions on live chat and getting answers from the mods and once from Scott.
Live stream presentations: 🤮 I don't like them, but I would never unsubscribe. That is no way to "send a message". Unsubscribing is only being rude. I just give a courteous "like" move along and watch something else.
