Sean Gerrity, president of the American Prairie Reserve, is working to build a bison herd of at least at least 10,000, which would make it the largest in the world. Bison help sustain a prairie's ecology, and the herd will be a key part of what Gerrity hopes will be the biggest wildlife reserve in the lower 48.

They already have in some areas. Some belong to different Indian tribes, some are "wild"(Bison are by nature wild animals and can't truly be domesticized. You don't want them to be anyway)

That is a great story the kind that brings hope, these natural habitats require our involvement considering humans have caused them to change on previous generations due to ignorant political policies and agendas, that only served the elites for personal gain, today we need to rethink these ideas and cause these natural processes on various open species flourish once again. We all share this planet together all it's natural beauty must be restored and managed together to the positive results with portents it requires.

@@TSideWes805 Well, at least wild horses should find a place in there. Introducing cheetahs as a proxy species for the extinct American cheetah should also not be so controversial. They would be mostly after small prey like elk calves, mule deer, pronghorn and hares.

They should rewild the plains with animals that once roamed the American grass lands, animals like elephants, lions, camels, horses and cheetahs, all magnificent animals that once roamed the plains that have gone extinct with a tick of the clock in geological time

There were no Camels, Cheetahs, or Elephants in North America. Wooly Mammoths, yes, but they went extinct thousands if not a million years ago.

@@Rumkitty2000 wow you are so uninformed 😹 camels, lions and cheetahs did indeed live in North America, there fossils have been found all over the continent, elephants themselves did not live here but Colombian and woolly mammoths did, they occupy the same ecological role, they did not die out millions of years ago, they died out around 11,000 to 10,000 years ago which is a tick of the clock in geological time. North America has incomplete ecosystems, simply look at the pronghorn, why run 60 miles per hour if the fastest North American predator only runs 45 miles per hour?

@@triciacol LOL! True though. There are Bobcats there already and there are wolves in Montana, so eventually they'll find their way there. But it's very hard for a wolf to kill a Bison. They have to get a young calf or an old weak one that is separated from the herd.
