Theseus in the Minotaur's Labyrinth - 3/3 - Greek Mythology in Comics - See U in History / Mythology Art: Clayton Inloco Color: Rod Fernandes #GreekMythology #Mythology #SeeUinHistory #History #MythologyExplained
Huh interesting. This probably the first version I've heard of Dionysus requesting Theseus to abandon Ariadne. In other stories it's either Theseus abandons her or Athena makes the request.
@@Naudi18 This story takes place during early Athens. Athena is the patron Goddess of Athens, Theseus is the son of the former King and due to his father's death was next in line for the throne. Athena convinced Theseus that Ariadne was a distraction and that his main loyalty should lie in Athens.
@@ancientking224 wow the Gods They really force you into very difficult things .the poor girl stranded on a desert island although in my honest opinion I like Dionysus's version since it makes Athena look like an entity that forces you to detach yourself from the people you love the most You love, simply because he orders you to, in fact, that reminds me of the Percy Jackson saga in which Athena forces the protagonist to forget the friendship he has with his friends Annabeth and Groover Although in the end the union overcomes all adversity and admits that it was wrong ...
@@Naudi18 the gods are not mortal and they care not for mortal affairs. They only care or remember mortals when they need power or help. Athena cares more for Athens as a whole rather than 1 person because Athens worships her and gives her power
I never heard this version where Dionysus ask Theseus to leave Ariadne, is generally Athena who tells him that or he just leaves Ariadne in the isle because he doesn't love her (or is just an idiot). Dionysus later finds Ariadne and married her and Theseus forgot that the white sails in the isle with Ariadne who was washing them.
Actually that it the correct part that people believed from all the versions of it. Dionysus fells in love with her and takes her away from Theseus and Theseus just accepts it and leave the island without going against him though he could.
@@brucejedilee5290 He was a descendant (son) of God (Poseidon) ofcourse he could like many other heroes did but it seems that he didnt want to or respected the God or just accepted to let her go to God Dionysus. Maby another script enlighten us about how the story went at the island when this happened but for the moment i personally havent found any details until now.
Never forgot the first time I heard this story in class. I went to the Library and found more books on Mythology📖📚 Now here Iam. Thanks guys your videos & stories are my favorites 🗻🏛⛰
Is it weird that I have a headcanon where the virgins just live and marry the minotaur instead? "You slept with the virgins?!?!" "Yes. What was I supposed to do with them?" "..."
In other versions he simply just abandon Ariadne and then proceeded to marry her sister AND lied about how she died. There was also a theory that he didn't change the ships sail color on purpose...
Out of all of them it had to be Dionysus one of the least respected gods due to his psychopathic nature as a result of being resurrected after a brutal death at the hands of the titans.
Crete did have a bill cult, and the palace at Knossos was very maze like. Not saying there was a half human half bull monster, but I wonder how much was based on some sort of ancient human sacrifice ritual
If Ariadne was indeed struck by one of Eros's arrows, then I guess I don't feel too bad that they didn't become a couple because that's artificial love...
Fun fact Heracles met Theseus for a second time in the underworld because he and his brother thought it was a good idea to kidnap Persephone the goddess of the underworld daughter of Demeter who will made anyone who took her daughter to miserable death and wife to hades
The Minotaur really is the beast in the labyrinth of your soul… It needs sacrifice or slaying. You better have a reliable piece of string with you to find back from the abyss! 🪅🤞🏻🤫
