@@KaireemReactions Excellent! : A little background: Kang HyungHo has actually performed Phantom of the Opera on 3 occasions where it resulted in viral views . 1st time was his audition piece for Phantom Singer 2 auditions on JTBC in 2017…where he and the other 3 members of Forestella met, cofound the group and went on to win the season; 2nd time was in 2020 on the MBC competition LOTTO SINGER with an improved, Nightwish influenced version which now has over 7.5 million views; and 2 weeks ago 20TH July 2024, with another updated version of P.O.T.O that has gone viral and is at over 1 million views after 3weeks , he performed in his first KBS IMMORTAL SONGS 2 with KIM MOON-JUNG episode as: PITTA’s KANG HYUNGHO WITH EUN-CHUL OH and PITTA BAND with 2nd PITTA member Lee YoonWoo…HyungHo’s music producer. Eun-Chul OH (stage name with surname last) a star in his own right, is HyungHo’s brilliant pianist/keyboardist and music director for all his solo events in 2024. They won 🏆 this episode with the best performance in front of the eminent Musical Director Kim Moon-Jung in whose honour this episode was , same one who was in the judging panel at his Audition 7 years ago. The audience votes determined the result. HyungHo credits Moon-Jung for inspiring and encouraging him to earnestly pursue his dreams of a professional music career. We hope to see them compete in the battle for Immortal Songs 2 special KING OF KINGS trophy at the end of the year. The video I refer to with the 1 M+ views is 12:36sec long which includes some footage of the green room and before and after …there is a shorter one about 4+ minutes which is just the performance by itself which has fewer views. Most likely, the 2nd and 3rd would be easier to find …the 2017 audition one isn’t visible in full. Snippets of his audition are in the 12:36sec video. Hope this helps.
Firstly, I will preface what I’m about to say with the belief that you are entitled to your opinion, but I cannot agree that they ruined it in the middle as you so vehemently expressed. The fact is, unlike most reactors, Forestella does research so they knew that Jim Croce died suddenly and violently in a plane crash soon after take off when he was on his way to his next concert, leaving behind a wife and young son who were suddenly thrust into a world of pain and loss. His death was sudden and ugly. This is why I assert they brilliantly portrayed this jarring and brutal reality by that break…after that calm and serene start to the song. One thing you can always expect with Forestella is that they don’t necessarily do everything as you would expect them to..this has been mentioned numerous times in comments. They are adventurous, daring and even experimental and they recognise above all that they cannot please everyone all of the time and that is not their goal either! That would be a ridiculous ask. They simply express the multiple facets of who they are currently as artists and musicians in a global music industry that likes to pigeon-hole music and musicians. Exactly the same as what you did by requiring them to conform to an expectation of the direction of a song you’d never heard before. And here they were also satisfying the theme for this special series of Phantom Singer All Stars where the top 9 teams of series 1 to 3 of Phantom Singer came together in a friendly rivalry during the pandemic in 2021, from January to April for 12 episodes. With Forestella, expect the unexpected. Resist the urge to put them into a pre-labelled box. The theme was to show who they are as a group and I’m so glad they did it this way. Different and unafraid to demonstrate that. Thank you for your honesty …I just feel it was bordering on condemnation of another’s choice of artistic expression.
Thank you for the comment. You can disagree because I’m not here to please everyone too. I never discredited them. I actually love their artistry. I’ve reacted to a few of their songs and they are gods and I made it very clear that I love the fact of who they are and how they sing. Anyone could have sung that song and done that edgy part and I still would have said the same thing. It’s got nothing to do with forestella it’s the fact it didn’t fit the theme. Think about it, many have expressed here their enjoyment of the song and are of the Opinion that it is a great way to transition to the next part…does it then follow logically that everyone who has a differing Opinion to yours is therefore Factually incorrect? That can’t be right, now can it?. Forestella do not always stick to conventional themes…that is a Fact. Unconventionality is often on display in their eclectic discography and videography with their unique interpretations. Having said that, remember what I mentioned previously , the theme they were singing to was not just the Jim Croce theme of Time , but also satisfying the theme of this episode of Phantom Singer All Stars 2021 …which was showing who they are as a group. They showed some of their various colours in this performance. It is who they are….not who or how people think they should be. And as always I concur, you have the right to your opinion…as do the rest of us….including Forestella …..this is not in dispute at all. They don’t need a scolding ….Just try to resist the urge to do the conventional labelling…get to know them better through these comment sections perhaps or watch Forestory. They are as individuals…not conventional ; as a group, ….not conventional; their recreational taste in music …not conventional; their solo career music… not conventional; their vocal arrangements … not always conventional; the way they interpret a song….definitely not always conventional. Forestella trio has another upcoming celebratory performance as the reigning KBS Immortal Songs 2, King of Kings battle winners with 6 CONSECUTIVE trophy wins from 2019 to 2022, unprecedented in the competition’s history. How interesting! Just yesterday, I watched another reactor who doesn't like the original at all and what you call the edgy bit transformed the song into something that he loved. But that's art for you - it resonates differently with different people. To me, your very different points of views just prove once again that Forestella not only produce great covers, they create works of art. I totally get where you are coming from with your opinion, even though I myself feel that the entire performance brims over with emotion. But I can see why the middle part would be distracting. I totally agree with you that this particular performance hightlights their togetherness, for lack of a better word, and their ability to connect with each other. Loved and agree with your comments. Perhaps the words synergy and chemistry also could describe their group’s dynamic? At least, that’s how I see it. And as to his honest opinion…I have no problem with his right to express an honest opinion because I highly value my right to be able to do the same… but the way he was teetering on the edge of a rant about the middle bit …that he then tried to back-pedal a few minutes later …it seemed a little unseemly to me. @@hildommar Synergy is a great way to describe Forestella! 💚⭐🌳 In any way, I feel. 🥰 I found Kaireem's opinion interesting because I've never seen anybody not like the mood change in Forestella's Time in a Bottle. Generally, people are surprised by it, but love it. I get it, though, why the way he expressed it rubbed you the wrong way. I think he just meant that the harshness (?) of the change took him out of the mood created in the first part of the song - which it kind of is supposed to do - and then he overexplained very emphatically. I find that people tend to form an opinion what a certain song or artist is supposed to sound like very quickly and what happens if those expectations aren't met is very interesting to me. All the more because subverting expectations of any kind is very much Forestella's style. 🌳⭐🌳⭐🌳⭐🌳⭐

Good reaction. Basically I agree with you about the middle section EXCEPT that it bridges to the screamed complaint that there's never enough time ... To me that was the absolute authentic core of the song, even if it's not part of the original version. But it's a shock. Yes, they're musical gods - in the same class as Dimash except I enjoy their performances more. Maybe less shock and awe, but more pleasure. They tend to arrange for musical fitness, not shock (this song excepted).

You are absolutely entitled to your opinion regarding this song or any part of it. But realize that these GODS, these POWER RANGERS of music, arranged this song in this manner for a reason. Jim Croce died tragically in a plane crash at the hieght of his career, leaving a baby son and a young widow. I felt that jarring middle part emphasized that sudden , tragic and unexpected loss. When you listen to it again in that context, you will be more receptive to this arrangement I believe. Thanks and please keep up with the Forestella reactions! 😊✌❤
