For everyone who says they should scrap Trudy… get a bit of adventure in your soul! As followers of Tread the Globe I expect more from you! Chris and Marianne are not a couple who give up at the first sign of things getting tough. They wouldn’t be doing this trip if they were those kind of people. Half of this adventure is that Trudy is not your standard overland vehicle. It’s easy to buy a new van or Land Rover and drive it around the world, but where’s the fun in easy? They’re driving around the world, not doing a tour of France. The best stories are those where we tackle adversity and rise above the challenges. Not ducking out because it’s suddenly not rainbows and sunshine. In 5 years, the stories and memories this pair will have will be enough for 3 lifetimes. And we’ll be here cheering them on through it all. The highs and the lows. Because there will be plenty of both. Keep on living this wild adventure both, we love you xxx
Absolutely what I wanted to say. Chris and Marianne could’ve carried on with their jobs in the UK and bought a holiday to Turkey or Honduras or Vancouver Island but we’d never have had these wonderful adventures with them and Trudy. Keep going, Trudy… you’re an icon!
I appreciate the fact that you share the highs & lows of what tenacity it takes to Tread The Globe. Turkey car park for example. Anyone who doesnt get that, doesnt get it! 💛 to all xx
Trudy is your Mobile home & she will keep you safe... This hic up is just part of your journey... We get by with a little help from our Friends & Good Grub... Take one day at a time & Trudy will be back on da Road Very soon🤗😘
what about me? 🤣I will be driving around Europe soon, first, ship my van over, but looked messy now they don't want to ship it, I am trying to figure it out what I can do at the moment.😘
This was sad to see Marianne hold back the tears - pray and hope Trudy pulls through. You know you’re both so wonderful, positive. It’s lovely you have lots of wonderful friends reaching out to support you xxx
Hi you two. Just watching the adventure and thanking you for all the kind words. On behalf if myself and Forrest and Maiya (actual spelling) I want to say it was our pleasure to try and help you through a bit of a trial. You were both definitely a bright spot to our days and I look forward to following along as you continue your Journey. Enjoy the Australian and NZ life and feel free to pick our brains if you run into any more trouble with Trudy. Though I expect she will hold up fine
Oh you guys ... with a little tear in our eye ... we have left you ... we look forward to a big reunion one day to celebrate the madness and appreciate your positivity and support - Thank you again to the Bronson Muffler TREAD Team and sending big hugs and love to you all xx PS Ersel - we hope that you meet him at the End of the world drive party in the UK !! woo hoo xx
Life is all about relationships. You know that by how you’ve created a bond with Sean and his crew, Aunt Julia and traveling friends. Your kindness is reflected by those you are in relationship with. Be well.
Thanks Kathi - we are fortunate to meet such kind and sweet people who love to be part of something different - And Sean will be coming with his wife to the part in the UK at the end of this challenge ... Woo hoo xx
Marianne professional by sea or land- driving like a boss and scuba diver mermaid 🥰😂 You both are incredible And Trudy is lucky to have such loving parent. Stay positive ❤️
HI , just found your site, what a fanatic loving couple you are, I use to do European long stay with our touring caravan and land based and cruises all over the world, sadly my wife died suddenly two years ago, so my travelling days over, could not do things without Lizzy , so it's great to share your fantastic travels, been binge watching your journey day one. have much more to experience . all the very best for the future.
From my family to yours, remember your never alone when others are sending you their love and prayers. You two are such an amazing couple and handle yourselves with such grace and lovelyness. May your parts come through and come sooner than expected in the end.
weird giving a thumbs up for car trouble but I like how the video shows that with loved ones around like family and friends, you can get through the tougher times in life. Hope Trudy feels better soon.
Thank you for sharing your travails. Many of us watch to escape our lives with your travels and it has been wonderful, but life intervenes and reminds us that we all have crosses to bear. Good luck - keep us posted.
What a lovely ending to this video. You are always so positive. I always say every silver lining needs its cloud. If things never went wrong we would never encounter the wonderful kindness of others
Sorry ....we were wrong.....keep the Fiat Ducato dream alive. We feel silly now.....just thought of keeping you going. Don't change Trudy......we wouldn't change Genevieve. Sorry . Take care
Once when driving from Spain to the UK, our car needed a huge amount of work. Parts were common but it still took two weeks. I feel your pain. It will all get sorted in the end. What a bittersweet video. At least you're in a place that feels like home and has a great community to help you both out.
So sorry that you got stuck and needed to wait long for parts. But it looks like you certainly got lucky to be in a place where there is help all around. I certainly pray that all get sorted out soon for you to get back on the road. It is heartening to see so many people getting involved, eager to help. It looks like the world opens it's heart when it sees kindness. Wish you both good luck!
Wishing You Guys & Trudy All the Very Best. With Ersel to the rescue & Séan the Best Irish mechanic doing the job she is in Good Hands. Sending hugs & Love to You. ☘🚐💜.
They are both epic and so great to have in the TREAD Team !! It will be great when they finally meet up at the party after we have finished this drive around the world !! woo hoo xx
So disappointed for you but at least you are not alone you have people around you that have your back. It could have been so much worse. I hope you’ve found the parts by now xxx
Trudy's a trooper, she'll be fine. It all adds to the adventure. And you'll get a nice break while waiting for parts, get some editing done, and just have some down time. Not sure if you watched Kombi Life travelling through South America in his old kombi. The amount of problems he had, and he still made it through, and as frustrating as it was, it made for good viewing. Take care and enjoy your time on Vancouver Island.'
Can you get sponsorship with euro car parts? Something like this would be incredible for them to rescue you and it would allow you to have the parts to do preventative maintenance too. You are so lovely you two (+Trudy) and I'm so envious of your adventures. Good luck x
Thanks David - it is tricky to get sponsorship on a vehicle that is on an adventure like this ... they don't want to work with you just in case you fail LOL !! But one day ... someone will want to 💪😂. But we are lucky to have a few plan B up our sleeve and have a fabulous TREAD Team / Crew behind us !! Woo Hoo - thanks for coming on this adventure with us 🚐
I was watching RU-vid "Mav" who is making his way down the Dalton Highway. He said, "This is crazy! Who do you know that is doing this?" And I posted a comment..."Tread the Globe!" Best wishes to you both. Get well, Trudy! ❤
Hang in there, don't really know who these people are but what I see on their channel they have more Moxy than I can muster in my little toe. I love watching them what a inspiration! Trudy is part of the family, just a little worn down for now and need a little break! Much love and blessings to you two!
I'm surprised you didn't find a kettle in Canadian Tire...they have a ton of options in small appliances. So love seeing the island with you again. My husband and I hitch hiked up and down the island for 6 months, and we got married in Victoria and spent our wedding night at the Empress hotel. We have travelled to a lot of countries and the island is still one of my favourite places. Trudy will be fixed up before you know it.
I think Trudy is 240v ? so a kettle could be a problem - I know Naick and Kim almost set fire to their van with a fan. - and that Best Buy is hopeless since it changed from Future Shop.
@@TREADtheglobe electric kettles aren't that popular in North America, since with 110v they take a long time to boil. Although houses run on 110v here, stoves are wired from two points on the fuse box, so run at 220v - I think most brits who live here and drink tea still just by a stop top kettle, they are much quicker to boil
When life gives you lemons ... 🍋🍋🍋 Can you arrange scuba diving on the Island while you wait ? & Chris what unexpected dream/challenge can you come up with ? Every confidence in your future adventures. Friends share the 'ups & downs' of life together! Good luck & much 💛 to all xx
So sorry my friends that you couldn’t get Trudy fix I’m praying 🙏🏾 that you guys get it fixed Fas . stay healthy positive safe and blessed my friends ❤️🙏🏾🦋
so sorry to hear about Trudy . . nonetheless your in beautiful part of Canada w/a an awesome mechanic and Aunt Julia and other friends looking after you . . sending prayers and positive vibes that they will find and get Trudy's parts in soon take and enjoy the beauty around you . . take care much love my friends ❤️ 🙋♀️🥰
Love your positivity. Breakdowns and repairs are just inevitable when on the road. In 2019 my transmission went in my Ford Transit..in the middle of nowhere in the desert in New Mexico. Being Canadian I took a hit with the 30% exchange for Cdn funds. But you know what guys it turned out to be a very memorable experience and I can smile about it now. If I can survive that I feel I can handle anything the road throws at me now! Hang in there guys ..just make it part of the adventure..All the best you 🚐🚐🚐
Absolutely Roxanne - we agree - everyday is a school day for us!! We are just ordinary people on an extraordinary challenge sharing the good the bad and the reality .... and it is great to be part of such a fabulous community 🌺
@@TREADtheglobe I love that.."we are just ordinary people on an extraordinary challenge" After my tranny fail and repair I very nearly turned around and came home. It took all of my contingency money and almost sapped me of my courage to carry on. But I thought about the pioneers heading West and all the challenges they faced and their determination to prevail. I carried on and I never looked back. Best decision ever and the experience makes for some pretty interesting conversation around the campfire too..lol Years from now when you revel in your memories of your adventures and misadventures your hearts will be filled with wonder and pride and you will say to yourselves.."WE DID IT" and that will be extraordinary!
Praying for your “Trudy” to get well quickly. You are the most positive people in the world. You are an inspiration to everyone. I look forward to many more stories and highlights of your travels. I am a fairly new subscriber but I never have commented before, however, this time I want to just put in a message to possibly cheer you on. I am from Biloxi, Mississippi. About an hour or so from New Orleans.
Awe, so sorry for your van troubles! So glad you both are so positive and loving and that is reflected back at you both from all you meet! I don’t know if you will be coming thru Colorado on your way back ….❤
I hope Trudy is back on the road soon. I am with you Marianne, driving & scuba definitley the best skillsets.✊️👌. Everything crossed you will soon be back on the road delighting us all with your adventures...xx
Hello Ambassadors Never seen you once that you are not smiling. Always positivity, always good energy, always sweet. Sorry TRUDY, I am sure you will be healed soon. Chris, Marianne, I have sent in my last comment prior to this video that PARTS GEEK in Texas said they carry parts for Trudy 2012 and present and they also adviced MONKEY WRENCH IN CANADA. YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK THESE FOLKS NOW OR IN THE FUTURE. I am glad that you have aunt Julia there for you. My hats off to Marianne for driving any type of vehicle, because I can't. 😭😭I can drive only automatic😂😂😂Take care guys. Love from FL.💗💗💗🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
Hey Guys, the good folks in Duncan will treat you right. Us Canadians are known for our hospitality. Plus your in a fairly small town and your making it famous. In two weeks you won’t want to leave, all the new friends you’ve made! Cheers
I'm so sorry this is happening to you! I am suitably impressed however with your amazingly positive attitude and buoyed by the fact that you have such a fabulous network of friends to help you out. The vanlife community is simply amazing. Sending lots of love and best wishes from next door in Alberta.
Love you guys .... I really hope you can fix the issue and while the issues are in the front window ... you can make the most of it ... remember your experience in the Turkish carparks .. you guys are awesome at this ... but we also know behind the scenes it's bloody tough .. so sending you guys so much love and hugs .... and cake ... always cake ... x
keep positive guys, there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. you will make it here to australia , maybe a little later than you expected. tc cheers cheryl.xx
I am so glad you are in a good place where you know someone and also found an honest mechanic to work on Trudy. All will be fine and you will soon travel south. Blessings, breathe and make memories! ❤️🙏🏻
You are soooo incredible. What a great video and we are sending positive vibes for Trudy. ❤️🙏🙏 She deserves to be in a museum when you have completed your journeys. The island is also very charming and please be safe. ❤️🌿⚘️🌿👍🙏🙏
Wishing you all the best in finding the parts needed for your van. So glad you have a wonderful group of people around you to give you support. Thank you for sharing from Brisbane Australia.
Out of the clouds comes sun, so good to see you are safe first n foremost, also with good people around you. Sending hugs🤗 and an abundance of love from 🇬🇧.
I am so sorry this has happened .Did the maxhanic say that he broke the nuts trying to get it off as they had seized .Bless your wonderful friends In Turkey again .Could not believe when you said a further 3 weeks though your aunt will be pleased and yph hwve her wonderful camper van to use.Maybe you are meant to stay longer with your Aunt .Life sometimes shows us things unexpected that we sometimes have to really stretch emotionaly and somewhere in that comes growth because certainly their is learning on everything and thos is no exception .So let's just focus on you getting parts repaying Trudy as soon as possible.Have to say this .Home for a while in a car park.Very important to be properly fixed for he long journey yph gave left to do.So Stay strong and let us all think positive collectively for he earliest possible recovery of you.God Bless.x
We’ll be seeing you in Australia ! I’ve no doubt ! Your positivity & reliance will make ALL your plans come to fruition! This is just a speed bump on your circumference of the world !
that's what you call the joys of motoring. youv'e got good people on your side to get the parts for Trudie. good luck on getting the parts. apart from that it was a great vid. keep safe
Sending virtual love and support. You show there are wonderful people in the world. May a solution for Tudy's woes be solved smoothly and soon for you. Kia kaha, be strong.
So this is why your PolarSteps showed you in Vancouver Island for this long 😥. I'm sorry this happened to you. Hopefully you'll be back on the road soon.
There are just good people everywhere. I wish you were near PA- my husband can fix or Mcgiver anything- especially cars. Things always have a way of working themselves out- this will be a distant memory soon - be of good cheer.
Tough break for you both, I had to replace the complete bearing on the left front wheel of my car, after hitting a metal object on a dark highway commuting to work. As I remember it was quite costly with available parts. Since you are waiting for parts to come in, I remember seeing a beautiful travel video of the Botanical Gardens on Vancouver Island, and it is a must see! Stay Safe!
Feel so sorry for both of you hope you soon get the parts you need . Love your aunt Marianne and handy that you can have showers at hers etc. I have been to Vancouver island fantastic place , Would be great to travel around while you’re waiting for Trudy I do hope you don’t have to wait too long I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you xx 🫶 🤞
Marianne you're wrong you have many skill sets driving, scuba diving, entertainment, adventurerer, conservationist and of course being a mum and grandma and wife. Ive prayed for Trudy. Wishing you all well.
You’re going to be fine; great ambassadors for the Uk (and midlands), showing your grit, determination and positive outlook. I’ve just finally caught up today with your travels since Jan 2020- has taken me since the start of Aug! No way, you can’t stop now! 😂👍 sending best wishes from a very soggy England.
Guys the rear stub axle and hub with bearings available in the UK( need to know if it as ABS ), if you want I’ll buy them and fed ex them to you and you can just pay pal me when you get them
I watched this from Saltspring Island this morning. So glad you are being well taken care of here. I hope you check out Maple and Genoa Bays while in the area. They have wonderful boat house communities.
I hope your Trudy will be fixed soon as it is going to be cold and icy and snowing soon in Canada…and you need to get out of there soon…before you get stock with a snow storm
I hope your Trudy van gets the love and care to fix it properly and sooner than later. Thanks for all you do and the lovely scenic views. You produce a quality vlog with interesting happenings.
Marianne & Chris ❤️ you'll never know how much of an inspiration you ate to us. And this video shows that the good people get the friends and love they deserve. We shed a tear or two and had to pause a couple of times and can't thank you enough for taking us on this incredible journey with you. Our Ducato, 'Nellie' is being collected next week and hopefully we'll have epic adventures in her, inspired by yourselves. Keep the faith you beautiful people 💙❤️
I really feel for you both , our van just been mot. taxed insured loads of welding done prior, then we were out and the engine started but not ticking over, told it needs a new fuel pump, willing to pay buy one etc but no one will do it for us, they just want us to scrap it.
Absolutely !! We appreciate all the great people in our support network and community and without them ... there would be no Turtle conservation centre in the South of Turkiye and friendships being made around the world !! 🌺🚐💚
Big hugs to "Past Marianne", seeing you tearing up. 🤗 You are both so amazing, after getting the bummer news you're both counting blessings and finding silver linings. You'll be right, indeed!! Jay Bee does have an endearing idle! I love the sound of VW boxer engines; they remind me of my '76 Beetle. Crazy that Chris has never driven an automatic! I know standard transmissions are the norm in the UK, but wow! ❤️❤️😎👍xx
Thank you so much! We are super grateful to our support network and we are always grateful 🌺🚐🙌 The VW sound ... reminded me of Willy Wonkers Chocolate factory bubblegum machine ... Just me? LOL xx M xx
I’m glad that if it had to happen, it happened for you around family. Your Aunt is amazing letting you borrow her Van. Someone up there is looking out for you guys. Maybe if you can’t get the part or maybe it would be better to get the whole back part the mechanic was talking about? Since your not done yet❤Much Love and Prayers for your Safety. Thank you for all your Positivity 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗🌈
Too bad about no parts for your van. Fiats have been an on and off thing in America. They were around during the 70s, then disappeared, then recently came back around 2012 , I think. Its great you can get used to left hand drive. Back in 1967 my dad had a new 67 VW van shipped to England from Germany with left hand drive. He had to ask my mom if it was safe to pass a slow truck. We spent a couple weeks there, and then it was on to Turkey, where we lived for 3 years.
You have probably already tried them, but just in case you haven't I purchase parts for my Fiat Ducato 1999 from Galician parts on E bay they are based in Spain and they ship to the UK, so I presume they ship to most places. Good luck with the trip
Disappointing absolutely and challenging but there is a reason for the delay, it's not your time to move on yet, sit back, relax and enjoy your time and your family. x
@@TREADtheglobe Absolutely, you are being looked after. Enjoy the island I am a tad jealous, flew as BA crew for many years but never quite got to the island. Have a wonderful weekend! x
So sorry to hear about your ongoing troubles with Trudy. But, perhaps you've made a discovery that whenever you and Chris are finally settling down, Vancouver Island is the place. After all, Victoria has long be renowned as the retirement capital of Canada. Just a thought. As an aside, Best Buy in Sarnia, Ont., is where I watch the TV I watch you guys on, lol. Thank God Auntie Julia is nearby. Also, it was really nice to see Kim and Naeck arrive to console you guys. They can definitely relate to your current predicament, as they were stuck in the.parking lot of a Ford dealership in Regina for weeks while they waited for a part their van needed back in the summer.
Thanks Terry - yep we feel lucky to have family and friends around - and yep even with a Ford .... you still need to send off to Europe for a part !! Who knew !!
I'm sure something positive will come of this and thankfully you are at the best place and if you have to have a whole new axel from anthor vehicle so be it ,,, it makes all the difference dealing with positive macnics, much love stay strong , your the best ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi guys....I've got the same van......why not upgrade the front and back with a new system in total...,you'll need it in New Zealand etc . They could do you a Dodge or Japanese retro fit? Just an idea 👍 John and Gill ( GENEVIEVE the van)
I am actually quite surprised to see the gentleman break two hub pullers. After one, he should have just heated the hub with a torch, it wouldn't hurt to try because after all you have new bearings. The thing is seized on with heat (Not "welded") It was obvious that he didn't try that simple approach. Adding heat will make it come right off IMHO. If not, your not out anything.
