Love watching skilled players play control. The edge-of-your-seat feeling where the opponent could still have something and they don't know your hand is garbage is the best.

People love to hate on control as the no fun allowed archetype. Until you play control yourself you don't understand that the control player isn't over there laughing, they're terrified that they are going to run out of answers. I don't love playing control myself, but it did give me a much better understanding of how it is played, what it's weaknesses are, and how to better play against it. I don't fear or hate control matchups now.

@@noodlesalad I often play the solemnity + nine lives combo and that is a control deck of some sort, although it is known as a "prison deck"... I think it is more control and you are right about the terrifying thing. In control there a tons of situations where you get overrun early in the game for instance or token generators leave your counters useless and and and... but most of the time a good control player is a nightmare to deal with.

@@noodlesalad If it wasn't for MTG Arena's horrible Matchmaking I don't think I would hate it as much. It's just annoying when I'm playing midrange and have to play against it 3-4 games in a row. I also can't really respect a deck when its win condition is a mirrex token or something similar to that. I'd rather play against mill.

I shouldn't share this but... A single copy of Cavern of Souls is actually clutch in this deck... Caven of Souls makes Zurgo virtually impossible (excluding Sheoldred's Edict) to interact with... Which is really nice vs any other control decks (including the mirror).

A suggestion for dealing with that worldsouls rage deck. Elesh norn can be a satisfying answer since it totally shuts down those sac lands. Pretty funny to see them sitting in play not doing anything for the rest of the game.

Shoot Outlaws is going to be a gamechanger for control. An isntant speed boardwipe that draws a card off of up the beanstalk is huge

If you mean Final Showdown, that doesn't draw off Up the Beanstalk. You may pay 6+ mana for it, but its mana value is still 1.

Love some Zurgo and Ojutai! That title is kind of cheeky. I have been playing my own jeskai control list a lot this month. Personally I enjoy having Chandra + Light Up the Night at the top end of my jeskai deck because it feels like a fast way to finish the game that can compete with some of combo decks and faster decks. I also have 2 Alchemist's Gambits in the deck for some sneaky extra turns to finish off the opponent. The Alchemist's Gambit works well with Chandra and Light Up the Night if you have 7 mana because you can play Chandra and take an extra turn at the same time. This allows you to make use of Chandra + Light Up the Night to cast your massive double fireball.

I'm waiting for soldiers to make a comeback. It's the kind of deck that folds to tempo and aggro, with all these combo decks running around it's only a matter of time till sometime decides to run Thalia and spell pierce

You don't counter the reenact though, do you? You let it resolve, exiling their target card, then you counter the free copy so they don't reanimate late of Breach.

Legen and chat, I'm trying to get some proxy decks to play with my friends casually, maybe 4 or 5 decks. Do you have any suggestion on which to get? Don't need to be high tier meta, but something fun and not too streamlined, such as mono red aggro, which can run out of options really quick. I don't mind the format, I'd love to hear advices ^^
