Dude, the black guys saved the day. The gay guy won the power contest, the oppressors were conquered, the body positive women (and "wonder joints") made it all possible, and the hero got the girl! Revenge of the nerds is the epitome of equality. Equal parts woke, and hero's journey. Everybody got to their place based on their merits, not because of their immutable qualifications. What's so tough? Again, watch Animal House! It's brilliant.

One thing I like about RU-vid channels like this is that you learn about movies and shows that you never would have otherwise. Another example recently was the very unique and very underrated show Scavengers Reign. I even did a bit of research after the show wanting to learn more and found out that there was a short film that aired on Adult Swim years ago called Scavengers and definitely seemed to be the inspiration for the show.

I am not sure if you ever watched American Dad, but the actor who played Booger voices a character named Snot. His name is Curtis Armstrong and he is in 2 of my favorite 80s movies Better Off Dead and One Crazy Summer. They both star John Cusack and were directed by Savage Steve Holland, who latter went on to create a 90s cartoon called EEK The Cat.

5:54 Sounds like you did indeed take too deep of a breath. I did the same the first time I ever vaped (was a cannabis vape). I pulled so hard my throat and stomach was on fire and I ended up vomiting lol. Learned my lesson real quick. Short breaths, slow pulls. Especially if you're new to it. And the stuff they're smoking - yeah you can definitely get a contact high from that. Those were huge! Definitely wasn't "coke" (i think youtube censors the other word). 33:18 hey now that was my anthem as a kid lol, Loved that song so much. Yeah these sorts of movies, while having a good moral as its underlying agenda, are first and foremost supposed to just be pure tongue-in-cheek humor. They aren't trying to beat you over the head with some sort of message nor does it walk on eggshells in trying to deliver its form of comedy. I said this in a comment for the first part of this review but back then common sense told everyone not to take any of this seriously until the characters themselves took things seriously. Sadly we don't have much common sense anymore when it comes to comedy and people are way too overly sensitive for this type of movie to be in existence anymore - and that's really sad.
@david2869
@david2869 8 месяцев назад
Revenge of the Nerds was a rated R movie, not PG (PG-13 didn't exist yet) and nudity (usually female) was very common back then in rated R movies. Most movies at least had a topless scene and most comedies had more than that. Around the late eighties, the amount of nudity in movies began to decrease until the late 90's when most gratuitous nudity was gone from movies, especially more serious ones.

Want a good show from the 90s that seems kind of forgotten about? Becker. Where everyone else was watching The Price is Right on their sick and snow days, I was inside watching the sarcastic asshole sometimes get proven right, sometimes get his comeuppance, in the show named after the titular character. Everyone remembers Fresh Prince, Home Improvement is starting to make it back some, and Fraiser got a reboot even, but Becker and Just Shoot Me (definitely JSM was a product of its time) seem to have nearly been totally forgotten. You'd like every character in it since the sleazeball is typically given the run around, the know-it-all is usually given her just deserts, the main character can go either way, and his closest friend can too, depending on how he plays his part (he may be blind, but he's still a jerk sometimes, which is refreshing!). Definitely a recommend from me.

There's a lot of symbolism in Revenge of the Nerds. Even the name of the jock frat, Alpha Beta, the jocks represent the alpha males; ultra masculine, aggressive, and into sports. The nerds represent the beta males; meek, wimpy, passive, and into technology. Stan represents the alpha while Louis represents the beta. In the end the nerds prevail because they use their brains over the jocks' braun.
@noneya3635
@noneya3635 8 месяцев назад
You do know that all of that alpha beta sigma nonsense does not even have validity in animal groups, much less human pair bonding right? All of those studies have been hardcore debunked, even the one that started the Alpha in wolf/ape society as nothing more than a grad student trying to make a name for himself.

If you like Curtis Armstrong here, you'll also love him in Better Off Dead and One Crazy Summer :) I get where you are coming from with Older movies. Growing up in the 80s, it was a bit more common still to see older movies on TV, so I had no particular aversion to Old movies per say, it's just that the ones I liked were the ones my parents liked so we'd watch them as a family. In my teen years (The Rebel years), My Dad would always have Turner Classic Movies or American Movie Classics (when all they showed were old movies) on, so being a Teen, I rebelled and wouldn't watch (unless it was something I already knew I liked). When I moved to Switzerland 22 years ago, I spoke no German/French/Italian at all, and there were only two channels on TV in English, BBC Prime and TCM/Cartoon Network (they split their time, Cartoon Network from 5am to 5pm, TCM from 5pm to 5am). When there wasn't anything on BBC, I'd go over to TCM and eventually expanded my horizons (took a bit of time, still a little rebellious back then). Now I have a movie collection that spans from the early days of Cinema to the present, Classic Hollywood, CLassic Hong Kong, Classic Japanese, some Russion, etc. etc. Most recently I've gone back and rediscovered movies that I saw but either didn't get at the time (being too young for it) or that I saw but didn't remember it too well. I've discovered that I like them much better, I understand them more than I did as a child. Of course on the flipside, I've seen a lot of movies I thought were so cool when i was little and realized they really didn't have much going for them. in summary: Don't be afraid of old movies, old can be incredibly good :)

Morning, Alteori. I love your videos and would also love to know how you feel about the video game Sulcide Squad Ki|| The Justice League.

You see, I'm curious about it since I've only watched cutscenes of the game here and there. Personally, I like the Flash when he's evil, but I didn't see enough of the game or the gameplay to know, and I refuse spending money to play that game, LOL. The games I'm playing right now are Palworld and Baldur's Gate 3. Palworld is taking up most of my time, and I can't see myself putting down either of those games to play Suicide Squad as it stands. From what I've seen of the game, it's not drawing me in enough to want to play it. However, the cutscenes don't seem bad... As for the gameplay, from what I've seen, it feels a little arcade-like to me, but I don't know if it's supposed to be that way. But then again, this is just from clips here and there that I've seen. I've not actually experienced the gameplay itself. I've heard claims that it took 10 years for this game to be developed, or at least a very long time. I find that hard to believe based on what I've seen. You see, when Rockstar develops a game and spends many years on it, the results are evident. Their games, like GTA and Red Dead Redemption, are always amazing, and you feel like you've got your money's worth, not just in terms of gameplay but also in the designs, details of the game, and what you're able to do. This game, however, does not feel as though a significant amount of time was spent on it, and the characters are very ugly, in my opinion. The dialogue and banter are not bad, but at this point, it feels like the game should have just been cutscenes. The little gameplay that I have seen also reminds me of mobile games, but I reiterate, I've only seen clips. There might be other parts of the game that are more intriguing and engaging, but I haven't seen them. How many gameplay hours is it? If it's like 20 hours and I got the game for free, I would probably blow through it just to review it, but I'm very picky with my games. I usually don't spend time playing a game if I don't enjoy it

Excellent take. Well, the Story of the game takes about 9-10 hours to complete. There are also optional side missions you can do to make the game longer. I'm not sure if you've heard, but the game is a massive failure, and is already down to only about 13k players at most per day. 3 days ago there was a 791% rating in refund requests, and probably not shocking to you, there's a TON of Woke garbage in the game. Each Justice League character gets their own little in-game biography, and in Wonder Woman's(or as I call her, Wonder Man, because they made her look hella dude ish)it talks about how Wonder Woman is praised for enduring, and I quote "toxic masculinity". Furthermore, just to name another Woke input, Poison Ivy(or simply 'Ivy' as she's called in this game)is reborn as a young child who's a self insert of real-life Female Activist, Greta Thunberg. In the game, there's a scene where Harley Quinn, despite Ivy being a child, hits on Ivy and calls her 'Fun Size' as well as continues to talk with child Ivy about their romantic past. Mind you, this doesn't even begin to cover all the Wokeness and flaws with the game, but yeah. I'm not interested in playing it, and furthermore don't believe it's worth 70$ whatsoever. It also feels like they tried to take a bunch of elements from Fortnite, especially the Jump/Shoot combat.

They had a sequel, Revenge of the Nerds 2: Nerds in Paradise. Kind of more of the same in a new setting. I think you'd get a kick out of Booger's Master (Sensei). Other thoughts, maybe try The Monster Squad, The Lost Boys, or perhaps Goonies. Glad you had a good time with that. I think your commentary and enjoyment of the movie was more fun than I remember the movie being.
