It's AMAZING to me how Service Men & Women & Vets are treated with such DISRESPECT! These people SACRIFICE their LIVES for their countries & fellow citizens😢💔😢💔😢💔 THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE💙💙💙💙🇿🇦🇨🇦
Just watched in Australia. I’m appalled at the way Coloner Reid was treated. He would give his life for his country. That deserves respect from everyone. RIP private First Class Thomas Keller. ❤🙏🏻
@@joanpettitt7786 :: please understand that it was a story if you read the description you will see that this is a story writing group that believes that the stories that they write are heartfelt and bring life two issues. It's just a story. It didn't really happen.
@@justanotherguy3850 Unfortunately Flying whilst Black is a thing. Doctors Scientists Musicians have been hassled One even had his many hundreds of thousands Musical Instrument damaged as the people that searched the container treated it like it was rubbish and crushed it when they did not put it back in the case correctly and forced the lid shut. It did cost the airport big time as they had damaged not just a quality item but a rare item that was important due to who/where it was made
@TheSLUser :: you still don't get it. Please read the description. This is a group of amateur writers. This is a STORY of FICTION. It is a crappy writer trying to make some kind of political statement about the military and racism. You obviously have never been in the military because if you had, you would know that Colonels are officers and a Colonel is one step below a General, and a Private First Class is two steps above the bottom. You get your first stripe to PV2 fresh out of basic training. The next one you get is PFC (enlisted grunt.) Colonels (commissioned officers) don't hang out with enlisted members and have lunch and tell their deepest darkest secrets to talking about their favorite fishin' hole back home. This was intended to tug at your heartstrings for the purposes of who knows what. It's a poorly written story. If you want to write a story about traveling while black, do it right. But don't use the death of a US soldier and a full bird Colonel escorting his body home to his parents as the vehicle. A colonel is said to be the most powerful rank because it takes an act of Congress to get his first general star. Colonel's delegate. A Colonel in that situation would have been all up and down people's backsides, making sure they heard him loud and clear. You know nothing of the military.
I enlisted in the Marines in 1967, right out of high school. One thing I remember from the first day at Parris Island was this from one of the Drill Instructors (paraphrased due to imperfect memory) "You are in the Marine Corps now! In the Marines there is only one color - Green! You are not white, black, green, brown, pink or any other color! You are in the Marine Corps now, and Marines only come in one color: Marine Corps Green! Do you understand that?! That is how I have tried to live my life. The color of a person's skin gives me NO information about that person as a fellow human being and, to me, is the LEAST important fact about him or her. We are all humans, together. And "Semper Fi" to all of my brother and sister MARINES!
This is absolutely heartbreaking and infuriating! The way this brave Colonel was treated is a disgrace, especially while honoring a fallen soldier. We must do better!
@warmingtalesfrias :: this is just a story. Complete fiction. In real life, Colonel's do not escort Privates home to their family. A colonel is one step away from being a general. A private first class is down at the bottom of the enlisted ranks. They don't sit together and have lunch and pal around all the time. Colonels do Colonel stuff, and Privates go fight the wars.
Watching from D.C. My late husband was a Veteran of the Army, he passed in 2017. I am truly disgusted at the way “people “ treat the military in the country and world, especially the veterans who are left behind and those who are not even being treated with dignity, respect or honor!!
Give thanks and respect to all our men and women in uniform. Thank you for your sacrifice/service to our country God bless America 🇺🇸. God created us all equal. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️
Thank you for a great story. My older brother was a Marine and died a couple months ago at the age of 87. He had a beautiful funeral, and several retired Marines handled the flag and the playing of taps. God bless all of our veterans. Our flag flies high and free because of our beloved veterans. Sent from Lafayette, La.
Watching from Halifax,Nova Scotia Canada. I think if that truly ever happened would be so disrespectful that the ones denying him the honour that they should be fired. Also be ridiculed and publicly disgraced.
Well done Colonel's Marcus you have taken on all comers to get your Brother home. Keller is watching you and very thankful. Stand Fast for your rights, I'm white English.
Did this in 79'. Had similar issues. The order stated transport of a freind. Army regs required accumpaniment....but, egos felt they had to declare, that the regulation does not mean fly for free....I was Asked to buy a ticket. At the gate, they said they had overbooked ...and had to take another flight.....then the airline declared my freind as Baggage. Security said they had to verify the contents.....luckily, a federal officer was on vacation and intervened.....he said he was on protection staus at the white house ...but for him, we would have been separated, and would miss the funeral service.....TSA today, is even more moronic.
I don't get it. 14 years with the Coast Guard and I never encountered problems with black crewman. Only once at dinner did I need to request a different waitress and even that went smooth. I had black crew members and never a problem. I think stories like this only exacerbate problems
My brother, Air Force, escorted his best friend, Army, from California to Minnesota. His best friend stepped on a land mine in Vietnam. I was so proud of my brother!
O my God I can't control the tears iny eye while watching the video salute to to col Rei d for his compose and very dignified manners God bless you sir. Watching from the Philippines
so sad i had kept a promis also that took 25 years to complete but i never gave up a buddy from NAM it took such a load off my shoulders when i was at his grave i said i keep my promis brother
It never should have happened, I don't care if security think it is OK. They need to remember that all the men and woman in the armed forces the world over, go and fight and sometimes lay down their lives. My heart breaks that this sort of thing still goes on, they are nothing but narrow minded people. I am from Devon, England.
I am from the UK, they stopped national service before I reached that age, I have the most utmost respect for all service people, for the battles they have been involved in the dangers of their job and for protecting their Country, they have put their lives on the line so deserve the respect they have earned, it doesn't matter the colour of their skin they are all heroes
I spent 17 years in the US Army, 101st Armor Ft Benning Georgia and I lost a lot of friends in the wars that followed! I never had the duty to do a Military Escort for a Fallen Soldier, but if I received orders to do that I would have done that with Honor! This interference is out of line and a complete Violation of what is Right and I would have a Military Escort for this and there would not be any interference with anything concerning the Fallen Soldier! Rest in Peace Private 1st Class Thomas Keller and all the other Fallen Soldiers!!
I'm a Viet Nam Veteran. When I came home there were no parades, nothing. The VFW didn't even support me. I was called a war monger and a Baby killer. The local VFW 1238 didn't want me as member. When I was asked to be in the Honor guard for a Parade, other VFW members refused to march with me. I had rude comments by VFW member made about my hair, I had drinks poured on me at a special dinner. Now a days the local VFWs support tRUMP. I was 17 when I joined the Navy and two days past my 21st Birthday when I got out. I lost 8 classmates in NAM and three more to Agent Orange. People that support tRUMP have NO RESPECT FOR VETERANS.
😢💔😢💔 THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE💝💝💝 Vietnam Vets ESPECIALLY were treated the WORST when they/you returned home. INFURIATING🇿🇦🇨🇦 You're quite correct, The Orange Buffoon & his MAGA Minions are the worst!
Regardless of the accuracy of this story America has never addressed it's racism and this is why overt racial incidents continue to happen daily within America. "We don't have to fight America her racial problems will destroy her."-Nikita Khrushchev former leader of the Soviet Union
Watched from Barbados. I am not a soldier but I believe I was the victim of racial profiling when I passed through Pearson's Airport in Canada about 21 years ago while my wife and I were taking our sick 8 year old daughter for brain surgery at Sick Kids. We were taken off the arrival line and carried to a back room where we were interrogated. I could tell from the other persons there that there was something amiss. We were never told why we were taken off the line. I thank God for the very good and successful care at Sick Kids and the accommodation at Ronald Mc Donald Home. My daughter is not 29 years old and has not required medication or treatment since. She is a fairly well adjusted young lady.
Watching from centurion South Africa 🇿🇦, Marcus the black veteran must open a lawsuit against the airline and security guards for discrimination!! 😢😢 😮
I've been watching about bad cops. In how they treat black people. Omg I wouldn't treat a dog like that. I'm from Ireland in the last few years black people are showing up everywhere. and we have no problems with that. treat people like you would like to be treated. We are all human beings.
I hate these BS! Stories! First of all full Bird Colonels don’t hang out with PFCs! 🙄 Second of all coffin going through a Terminal doesn’t happen, the Coffin is driven straight to the Airplane! Third of all a Full Bird Colonels going through a airport in Dress Blue, no way no how would the airport jam him up like you say! First there would be someone on the staff was prior military! That would check his fellow employees! WTF are you doing!!!! Then there would be dozens of vets and some soldiers around that would check security! And a massive fight would break out! But most of all the Coffin and the Colonel would have been given special passage straight to the airplane! Stop with the BS Hate video!
I thought the same thing. There are enough red flags to make you wonder about the story. I am not sure what the point is...we have enough issues without making up another one under the guise of being true.
The more I listen the more I see it’s racism. There’s no need to b so disrespectful to this guy. Lots of unnecessary bull. Good thing his comrade came n to stop the harassment. Guards need to b fired. Thank u for getting the fallen soldier home to his family. No need for all that bull. Thank u for your service.
I served in Viet Nam (68-69) with the 9th Infantry Division at Dong Tam, about 90 miles south of Saigon. I was one of the first to leave Nam under President Nixon’s pullout. When I got to the San Francisco airport I was treated like any other passenger, even though I was wearing my uniform. For those of you who chose to make this political - shame on you. Service in the military should be a-political, our country has an election every four years and you don’t get relieved of your responsibility to complete your commitment just because an election doesn’t’t go your way.
As a Viet Nam soldier myself, I got more crap from the veterans administration and still have not gotten anything but crap for now fifty six plus years. My own government denied me my service medals and denied my service connection disability caused by the government inept handling of the gas attack from the "friendly fire" which caused me to have Chronic pneumonitis for whatever life I had left!!! Now they say that it might not be much. I am still looking for my disability payments and haven't received more than one or two since 1968. All owed the USA Army owes me over 2.57 million dollars of which they have paid me about none as yet??
I'm wondering if this story is fact or ficton. I'm asking because I noticed that the Colonel's last name was spelled Reed, Read, and Reid. My internet search showed there is a Retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Marcus "Red" Oliphant who graduated from West Point in 1952. He was a fighter bomber during the Vietnam War Some of the original Apollo astronauts were fellow graduates from West Point. I noted that PFC Thomas Keller was awarded a Bronze Star for service during the Vietnam War. The story makes total sense if these two men served in Vietnam. First, there is the lack of respect for Colonel Reed and his mission to bring his brother in arms home. Then there is the disrespect of and prejudice faced by Colonel Reed because he was a black man who was a decorated officer. I'd love to hear from the author of this story, to find out if these are the two men mentioned in the story.
I think they treated him like criminal when he fought for his country and bring his friend body home and because he his black he should not be wearing those medals they should be punish❤🎉😊🙏🙌
This 55 minute STORY could have been told in 1/5 the time. It was written by a group of storytellers. They got their facts all wrong in the process of telling a STORY that has no truth to it. After all, it was just a story. The picture used to depict a Colonel escorting a Private First Class home wasn't even the correct uniform. You don't wear your medals. You wear ribbons. Why was the Colonel spending all of his time including meals with a PFC to begin with? That doesn't happen in real life. The story is of load of crap. This story is written by somebody who is claiming racial discrimination. But it's just a story. Colonels don't escort PFC's home. How is it that so many people unconnected to this dignified transfer suddenly had the private cell phone number of this Colonel? If you're going to tell a STORY about the military, know that people that were in the military are going to see right through your bullshit from jump. You are part of a storytelling group that just wasted 55 minutes of my time. It's not even a real story. It's nothing more than fiction. That's the part that sucks. You made it up with a mishmash of details that didn't fit. A real Soldier knows that. Your fiction is an insult to every Soldier, Seamen, Marine, Airman, or Coast Guard member that ever wore the uniform. You had an agenda of racism that you were pushing. All the make a few bucks.
Has anyone considered this may not be exactly accurate? Commissioned n especially senior commissioned officers and pfcs do not fraternize.....that's clue number 1
This sadly SEEMS to be a false story (I seriously hope it isn't real, these things shouldn't be happening these days, but we all know they do around the world).. There is nothing to be found searching the named hashtags in the video, neither does any results for Colonel marcus/markus read/reid/reed (subs showing different names throughout the video) come up. If this is a real story, please link a source. If this is fiction, please mention it in video description, or in the title (but that would probably not give as many views).
It MAY be fiction, but I know it is drawn from far too many real experiences, many hidden from such public view. We all take a solemn pledge to "Defend the CONSTITUTION of the United States from ALL enemies, both foreign AND DOMESTIC" That pledge does not have an expiration date! All of us who for are veterans are still bound by that pledge. Defend the CONSTITUTION, not a transient office-holder.
utah In this day and age I have some problems,,, Black Officers are not unusual. Escorting a person home, not unusual Really have to question of the wide difference in rank. Not saying it never happens but PFC's and officers don't travel in the same circle. Don't quite see them as beer drinking buddies. Putting that aside, there seems to be a number of this type stories here on the Tube. This may be true, but I am finding it very hard to believe No matter my opinions about the truth of the rank issue. I am finding it way more than difficult to believe this true. Airline employees have been well schooled in the treatment of ALL color passengers uniform or not. I feel this is a subtle form of "stirring up the people" and totally uncalled for to even be published
