Yeah, he kind of has a bit of crush on her but she sees him as a good friend. She is destined to marry whoever is named crown prince. She is considered a valuable asset in her own country. She has the bloodline of two very strong countries, so whoever marries her becomes allies of both. Plus she's pretty to boot.

They didn't know that it was the crown princess.. they thought it was just a common nobleman. The only reason general pei stepped in was because he knew her identity and her as a person. But during the whole scenario they had no clue who she really was.

It's a bad translation for 公子。公子 is a young male from at least pretty well off family. He's supposedly to be educated, cultured, and well mannered. A young mister might be a better translation.
