Was a bit skeptical at first, but this update truly is shaping up to be a massively positive overhaul to the gameplay loop.

The Chest of Fortune in the Skelly Fleet makes me so happy. Skelly Fleets are my favourite World Event, this will be an awesome season!

So most of the trading companies have had a 6.66x level cap increase and Athena has had a 16.66x increase.

As a Solo Slooper, “The Chaser wins by default” is my biggest fear with this update. I’ll fly the guild emissary flag on a chill server with no reaper in sight, go to an island to complete a voyage and all of a sudden a reaper 5 galleon pops out of the water 3 islands away. They scan their map table, see my emissary ship, and I can count the minutes until I have to say my merry loot goodbye. So far, I was able to keep my distance. But I fear I won’t be for long with this update.

After I maxed out every faction including hunters call I basically dropped off entirely because I’ve done everything I wanted to and having nothing to really want to grind for made me bored but now having 425 levels in each major faction gives me years of play again

In addition: You can find some of the new special emergent-only loot in shipwrecks also, the way it looks in the video from Rare. I hope the maps that randomly spawning skeleton captains drop also have a chance to be the special emergent loot, and that the loot that randomly spawns on islands and underwater around them, has a chance to be those also!

This is the most excited I’ve been for a season since they introduced Hourglass. Some of my best memories playing this game are me and my friends throwing an emissary up and grinding out level 50-75 for each faction. This is going to breath so much new life into the game, and since they said this is the last foundational season, I bet the rest of 2024 is going to evolve the sandbox in amazing ways. We’ve made it through the dark times everyone! Edit: Thank God they’re rebalancing Athena reputation gains.

I have been gone for a few years... I came back and had a guilded Athena in my inventory. But before I was confident enough to risk it , the patch came out... I cry...

I do wonder how Doubloon purchased quests and Larina's quests will work. Guess I don't have long to wait

Another note: It was confirmed that dabloon voyages (skull of destiny, cursed treasure, etc) will be available as free voyages, like any other. Not directly related to season 11, but Mike Chapman confirmed a few other things in replies on Twitter (mostly teasers). Hunters Call will eventually get distinctions too. Though he was cheeky about the details, meaning it's probably involving an overhaul to hunters call. When asked about the possibility of adding an axe as a weapon, he said it almost certainly will be added eventually. And a Briggsy plushie as a ship trinket is inevitable. That's all the extra details I noticed.

Best update we had in a while. This actually works on replayability and not add in some event everyone will do a few times and then never again lol

There is currently an achievement to deliver 50 fruit crates on time. The contracts for fruit crates are only found in bottles. Since bottles are being upgraded, what happens for fruit crate contracts? Is the achievement achievable?

My first question about the rings is how would they work with the gloves we have now that are just rings.

I know I'm normally the doom and gloom sort for SoT, but these changes I actually do like! Giving the Skeleton Fleet relevance again is great! I don't think I'll grind to 100. I did it for 75 and nearly died doing it. (Thank you Devil's Roar for making skele missions easy.) I'll pass on the 100. Still, if nothing else, I will happily say I believe this is a step in the right direction.

I'm still not sold on the diving mechanic but the rest of the changes seem positive to me

As someone who doesn't want to have Twitter or have the time or inclination to watch things on Twitch, I tend to miss out on promotional stuff and information. So I get my news from you, Captain. It would be nice if Rare didn't just stick to these platforms but it is what it is.

It’s a great update, but it’s not working as Rare or Captain Falcore explained when it comes to the diving/teleporting element. We went online yesterday. First teleport went as intended. Came up next to an Ashen event. We completed it, turned in the loot and proceeded to do something else. Later that same night we teleported again to an Ashen Lord. This time we came up at an active event. A galleon on one side of the Island, a brig on the other. The galleon was trying to complete the event. We proceeded to sink both and pick up the loot. But since we came up from diving, they never really saw us until we arrived. We wanted to try it again and teleported/dived to a skeleton fort. Same thing: Someone was there trying to complete it and another ship was just off the island trying to fight the other guy. We sent them both running by our presence even though we had no intention of fighting. Happened again an hour later i yet another Ashed Lord event. I thought that it was only supposed to work when an event was not claimed by another crew?

Just spent my first evening playing the new Season 11 system. It was bad. Oh the whole idea worked just like you said it would, until it didn't. That Dive routine was supposed to ease up on "noobs", (and I am always a noob in SoT,). But it just made it worse. Yes seson ten was very very long. And very peaceful. I rarely even saw another player, let alone had any kind of unpleasant encounter. I was even hoping to actually MEET other players and sit around a play music and drink grog and such. There was very little of the old School knife in the back game play that made focusing on the content just impossible, let alone take the time to actually enjoy it. It one evening I have been ambushed and griefed more times that I suffered with for the entire last YEAR. I dove on three different adventure. In each case withing minutes other players were sinking our ships, without even bothering with loot. We never had any. They just ambushed us, shot us to pieces and had a good laugh. In one instance when we spawned in after the Deep Dive, we were in the middle of three other players, like they were just waiting there for us to show up. This was a bad night. A really unpleasnt, nasty "S*** Storm" of a night. And I think I know how it was so nasty. Forts of Fortune are so close to outposts. Diving to them is useless and you collect less loot if you are an emissary than if you just sail there. Skelly Forts? Pretty much the same,. So World Events, the Big timeconsuming World Events that require some honest focus to beat. They all put big beacons in the sky. Skelly forts and their skulls, Skelly Fleets and they Ship symbol, Ghost Fleets and their Green tornados, and Ashen Lords and their big red tornados. So here is what I think is done. There is enough frequency of folks using the Dives, that the other so called "players", in private I do not use such polite names, just hang out and wait for the even to be visible. I am fairly certain the event shows up while you are still diving to it, so they have the time to just drive over there and wait for your. You get involved with the target and they move in. They know you have nothing to steal, so they aren't after that. The only fun in it is to prevent other people from playing out the the even they wanted to play. Nothing more than that. Once Again we are back Rare Software displaying an absolute hate of their players who actually enjoy the sandbox. And now, ... again, we can't take the time to do it. I will play test this. But I am sure I can get to any world event that appears on any server I am on and show up pretty much as the crew is just getting into their fight. This is extremely aggravating game play. It is miserable, it is the exact opposite of fun, something which games are supposed to be. Unless, of course, one is a low life piece of scum whose only fun in life requires you to make others miserable. Sorry this new system sucks Captain. I can not recommend it to anyone for any reason. I'll play safer Seas. There is no point in playing the rest of it. 75% of the time some jerk stops you from doing that. And Just think! I got to experience all of that in one evening of play, after a year of actually enjoying myself. Huge dissapointment.

I've got just one more question regarding this season... _Can you dive directly to the Shores of Gold?_

But, when you earn a distinction, and reset to level 1, do you still have access to higher voyage tiers or will you have to start again with only the low tier ones? If it's the second option, I hope you have the choice to ''prestige'' or not when getting to level 100.

Diving while on an empty vessal to flee from a persistent griefer that is just trying to kill you for no gain and will chace you for an hour seems like a good use for this. All you need to do is get 3 map scqares away. Then you dive and end up in a new server and you don't have to worry about a vengeful ship chasing you all session. As long as you don't find another one smh. Also guess i just lost my 10+ rare voyages you can't get anymore that I've been saving for 2 years. Sighs*

I think some people done truly see how big off an update this really is. It changes a lot off what we've been doing in SoT for years. Now instead off just hitting lv 50 and going to do world events or vaults for money, there will be more people doing everything, due to the gold changes. For pvps, the chances of loot being in ships is higher and we'll see more emissary flags. Not the mention with gaining progress when finishing a quest or picking loot is going to encourage more fighting. There is Soo much I. This update that can be done is crazy how big it really is

What I don't hear in any video is, how much of this will be nerfed/unavailable in Safer Seas?

I have never seen this channel before and was just trying to learn about trading company mechanics, but that intro was the most magnificant thing I've ever seen.

@captainfalcore During the ship fleet captain. Can you board the Skeleton Captain's Ship and locate the Chest of Fortune and just jump it off? Or does it only spawn when the ship is sunk?

Things I want to check out when S11 hits: value of chests, mostly chest of fortune, chest of legend and ashen chest of legend. Wondering if they made it so athena quests is actally rewarding you with cash or if it's still about "glory". Also, do you loose high lvl quests access when you prestige? If so, I won't and will keep playing with guild emissary flag while using lvl 100 quests from my favorite faction (assuming there are some and that they're worth it). There is no rings for guild prestiges right? (because going to lvl 10, we could have both hands full?) Does athena loot also have S tier loot? Is box of wonderous secrets more accessible and did they raise it's value? Picky questions but still worth cheking out. Just like gamers asking if you can take chest of fortune from skelly ship or if it's locked somewhere... Ty Falcore for the laughs and happy S11 =)

[Edit: Yes I know you can't reach lvl 100 in Safer Seas I'm talking about rolling over to lvl 1 Prestige 2 on High and then playing on Safer] So the question, Safer Seas is still capped at level 40 for all factions (minus reapers), but if there is this prestige system now with it rolling back from level 100 would Safer Seas let you reach level 40 of prestige level 2? Just a curious question, not like Safer Seas is a fast way of leveling up anyways.

I love all of the solo-focused gameplay additions. With all of these changes, I really hope the Rare team is looking into how to disconnect the game from the servers at some point in the distant future. It would be massive for game preservation.

Food for thought, we set up an ashen lord raid, surfaced at mermaids hideaway after a mattwer of seconds, with the boss already spawned and a brig and sloop there fighting over it.

The diving mechanic will be useful for me. I’ll dive to the jack sparrow / davy jones battle and stock up on resource crates and then cancel the voyage. If you want to fight my ship I hope you’re prepared for a long gruelling fight. I’ll have like 5000 planks and cannonballs 😂

The Fleet of Fortune is definitely my favorite and likely the best paying world event.

It’s easy to separate the over reactive doomsayers from the real and knowledgeable pirate legends with this update. This is easily one of the best updates the game has ever gotten and any one saying fast travel will kill SoT doesn’t understand it yet. Thanks for this super informative and helpful video!

I'm still extremely wary of the dive system. Players will figure out a way to exploit it. Players ALWAYS find a way. Other than that everything else is amazing.

They actually did say this about season 11. But they said it in the deep dive

What is happening to the quest board then?

The new voyage system is garbage. It’s like a move backwards. The old system gave you multiple maps for one purchase. And those included buried treasures more than 6-7 chest in a single island. And if you weren’t satisfied with the islands you could cancel and put down another voyage. But in season 11 this is completely gone! You either have 2 chest island or 3 chest island. And they are always the same damn islands.. also no captains chest or cursed chest, legendary chest is no longer can be dig out just one type of chest. It’s ridiculous. This update is a 1/10

To me the game has already hit rock bottom since the release of Safer Seas. So whatever Rare adds to the game now it can't get any worse, can it?!

Doesn’t this mean that it’s VERY unlikely anyone in the server is going to bother you at a raid event? Since most players will just dive to their own raid. On top of that, a sloop crew can clear a fort in just a few minutes. That doesn’t give anyone on the server enough time to respond to the event anyways. Tucking is essentially completely out the window. As are most of the random world events since nobody is going to bother with a fort or ashen winds boss, since they can just dive to a fresh server event and be done with it (with better loot) faster than doing a radiant event. PvPvE just keeps getting more and more RARE. Not sure why we need to compromise the gameplay that makes this game good for people that just wanna play 20 minutes at a time. Even with these changes, I for one wouldn’t play this game in a hurry. You just never know when something will go down and you’re fighting over loot for hours (and that’s what makes the game fun!). Just don’t see that happening anymore

Yeah I had ... all my Gilded Quests deleted.... Was sad... THAT SAID... I've made more gold in the past few days than I would've with those Gilded Voyages so ..... XD

My only Question is how are they gonna handle Quests like the Skull of Destiny because the only balancing is the Price of the Quest, but now all Quests are Free. I was Just wondering, but I think we are gonna find out Tomorrow ( I’m already hyped )

See, this so the type of info they should have included from the beginning. For some of us players who don’t want anything to do with most social media, giving a bullet point only initial video really left a lot to the imagination. And for some of us who really want the game to stay more on the pure side (which is why we fell in love with the game) saying things like “you can now quick travel to world events and voyages” is not a great thing to hear. Thank you for the clarification.

Ngl i've d9ved to world events for different factions and i always feel underwhelmed by the loot. I could be dead wrong but the loot i get from sailing to one feels like much more than dov9ng to one. Other than that i'm loving season 11!

literally today i've dived to an "uncontested" skullfort and had a reaper brig literally sat next to it, so there's that for "uncontested", not that it mattered because they were the kind of player to say "we will sink you if you attack us (nerd emoji)" and then get absolutely destroyed by a sloop and run away (and dive lmao)

Very sadly, they decided that you cannot have emissary voyage anymore without a grade 5 flag.

I believe that there is a bug with the diving with world events because the first day it came out, I was doing a phantom fleet with my friend on a sloop and a gallon just came out the water. Luckily they were horrible but they divided on us half way through the event.

can't wait to meet zombie pirates hating the grind but still doing it. I'll always remember this solo slooper who was happy and completely fed up while he turned lvl 20 athena (was cap at time) in the devil's roar... "I'm never touching athena quests again" I guess that guy won't be back xD Or maybe greed will consume him once more! ... I really you people out there take time to enjoy the game. I really still enjoy the game and if I get close to feeling like that guy, I'll take a break. Not worth it to go full grind attitude. Sincerly, a long time SoT sailor. (If you don't enjoy playing, you ruin the experiance for yourself and others...)

skill based games are a dying breed, the people at rare are pretty smart with sea of thieves. Of course, no game is perfect, but this definitely is one of the great ones.
