About 15 years ago, Opeth opened with this song on one of their US tours, caught them in LA. My buddy with me who was a big fan of theirs as well, who somehow hadn't heard this song, looked at me about 20 seconds in with a 'holy shit!' look on his face I'll never forget. After riding out the rest, he instantly proclaimed it his new favorite. Catching these dudes in their prime was such a treat

Now you’ve done my two absolute favorite songs of theirs. Deliverance and Master’s apprentice, these two are the first two I heard of them, from one of my buddies, during our deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan 07, 08 and 09, he showed me them in late 06 to 07…truly epic.

This song was my gateway to Opeth. I'm not really into prog metal and I had heard Opeth before and I wasn't really into it. After I heard this song it clicked for me and all the songs I heard that I wasn't into became staples. It's weird how that happens.

I love cooking at my grill to Opeth. You can time out your meat flips or over all cook time by songs. Choose lengths depending on what your cooking. “Drapery Falls is over, flip the tri-tip!”
