I visited Japan last month and managed to visit Shinjuku Sportsland. Seeing the BB posters and signed artwork by Mori brought a damn tear to my eye.

What I wouldn't give for Arcsys to give us another BB title like CF. Keep Guilty Gear doing the good stuff it's doing for more mainstream access and let BB be their high learning curve kind of game. They could exist side by side in beautiful harmony!

I've had so much fun playing Blazblue, it's one of those games where the learning never ends. Training mode is so much fun because there's always something new to discover. In contrast, many modern fighting games tend to be simpler and easier to pick up, but they also lack the depth and technical complexity.

6B memes aside, I think Monarch saw how off his defense was at EVO and said "I gotta level up". No early bursts, no character swaps, not even trying Litchi..... He just went the stable route for him and it worked. Once I saw the first timeout I was worried Betadood couldn't even take one round. 6:45 I think people stop doing that run under mix up because like you said, it only works on quick rise. At least from what I've seen online, most players want to corner carry you for setups/mixups/pressure rather than keeping you midscreen if they can help it. So there is no need for run under mixups if you get them to the edge of the screen. 14:10 From what I've seen, a bit of both. He'll only go nuts on pressure if he can break you (I have faced in online ranked and he read me like a book). But since it's Monarch at GF, I imagine he wants to be as safe as possible. 19:50 Blazblue can't kill the channel because Blazblue is dead (apparently)

to me there's something about Tager that makes him feel particularly "beginner-friendly"(?) as a grappler if that makes sense. he has magnets, he has several gap-closing options in 2D, B-Sledge and J.C, he gets a projectile every now and then through spark bolt, and he has a pseudo-reversal/built-in tick throw in Wedge Catapult

It's interesting how much people say they want a game as crazy Blazblue but it's just one of those games where asw will try their best not to get that insane again with another game 😭

God, I love watching this game, every time. Specially with Monarch, it feels so nice to watch good players not eating meaties or shimmies because you can afford to wait. UNI and early DBFZ are probably the only games that feel somewhat similar in that regard. Tekken as well, in a way.

It's always fascinating to see Monarch using Es. She has the reputation of being one of the "easier" characters, yet the amount of effort needed to make her combos consistent is just insane. Seeing Monarch pulling all those difficult combos consistently is quite something. Plus he does things that other Es players just don't. It's always fun to watch.

Monarch is truly "The Wall" with how impressive his defense is especially how he timed out betadood

One of the biggest draws of fighting games for me is combo structure. The less standardized the better. Central Fiction really hit a sweet spot. So much fun.

Wish BB returns, but dude it can’t become like strive… we need something with some meat on the bones! However, defense is definitely strong in bb, and ragna can’t get anything done against a turtle. If the game could update, I would definitely suggest that ragna’s drive should cause more barrier damage to discourage excessive blocking, and higher chip when not hitting a barrier. If he has no mix, he might as well make them sweat if they keep blocking. That ship has sailed though… still, thanks for the upload. Your channel might die, but I enjoyed the content.

I feel as old as Jiyuna (59) reading the title, but agree with it. I just don't tend to stick with newer games much, as I feel there isn't quite as much to latch onto. It hasn't even been that long, but I'm already sort of bored with sf6, even having hit master on a few characters, and playing a bit after. I feel like I've already seen the majority of what the game has to offer, whereas I can boot up BB, or mahvel and still see some random new tech/gimmicks. I even played some arcana heart 3 the other night and had a blast, and that's a fairly simple game to play, but just feels more fluid. Not sure how else to put it. For BB at least there's that "new" beat em up game that sort of looks like trash. Still better than bbtag.

You say Monarch is doing new stuff every time, but all this stuff has been out there for a long time. In the past months I have been watching old matches by Yutta, Ronitta, Tennti and other strong japanese players, while taking notes, and they already did all these techniques 5 years ago. However it is true that all this is very hard to pull this of with so much consistency, and to use it properly. For example RCing the dp just before the second hit to continue an air combo is a very precise technique, especially when you want the side switch, and you have to do adjustments like doing either jBB or only jB before the dp in order to be at the right height (depending on where you started) to be able to continue the combo correctly. The thing is that all these fancy techniques are just the tip of the iceberg, because Monarch's level is incredible on every aspect : fundamentals, neutral, defense, game knowledge, character mastery... he just has it all.
