I really appreciate this RU-vid video. I'm a slow swinger very very high handicapped golfer who after 30 years got my first brand new set of golf clubs. Apart from my G425 driver which is a ladies 12 degree loft, none of the other clubs have made much difference. Before anyone says I should have invested in lessons instead, I already did this in the last year and a half ( £2500 +) so I'm desperate for any help.

Simply the best video I have seen on you tube regarding hitting a driver. We get all these other channels swinging out of their shoes to get maximum swing speed and ball speed. You have shown it’s how the ape holding the club swings and controls his swing that determines how far the ball will go. A slow swing but with the proper strike beats a wild lash every time , it’s why physical size and strength mean very little, you know when you have hit it well as you almost don’t feel the ball You have just confirmed that you cannot buy a game if your swing has core faults, lessons v buying clubs

Brilliantly explained. This is exactly what I am about to work on, firstly garden net and then Driving range. Been baffled as to why I'm averaging only 220yds when swinging fast and even bought a new modern Driver but didn't make much difference. Thankyou kindly young Sir !!

I need lessons.. This confirms it for me! I can hit 160mph on Top Tracer but only get 250yd total with a massive slice! I DO swing in-to-out but still manage to hit down because my wrists are too "set" throughout my swing. I can tell myself but I can't fix it myself. The few times I "let go" and relax my wrists I can smash a baby draw and get closer to 270yd carry but I feel it's still high-spinning. Suppose i'm an unusual case but this video confirms it - I need lessons!

Great video. Great that you're putting your studio to benefit us immediately. I've played for years with a fellow who hits massive 300+ drives with his Ping G10 driver consistently. I like you're basic message of distance being a product of the archer probably more than the arrow.

I recently switched from a Taylormade Sim driver, to a Nike Vapor driver (obviously used). Yeah... I went backwards with technology! However, I absolutely love the Nike Vapor!!! The only bad thing I have to say about it; is that I am kind of bummed that Nike gave up, when they seemed to finally figure it all out! I guess I will be a Nike golf collector! They are becoming rarer every year, but still available to date. I better get to collecting before the availability dries up!

Very interesting timing for me personally. I am new to golf (at least semi-serious golf) and I too was sucked in to believing that a new driver was all I needed to cure my issues, as I have a lower swing speed too, although I'm in the high 80's and low 90's. Anyway, after buying a Callaway Epic Speed and a Cobra Rad Speed XB, I saw very little to no improvement in my game so I took the last dreaded path, lessons! lol. I booked some lessons and learned a ton. So this off season I thought back to those purchases I made and I went to an indoor golf place with my old Cobra F-Max from 2017 and compared them. Perhaps not too surprising, I was hitting all 3 of those drivers within 10 yards of one another. What I've learned is don't be shy to open up your stance to widen or lengthen your swing, make certain you are gripping the club properly and most of all, relax!! Relaxed muscles move faster than tense muscles, so free and easy will produce more power in the golf swing. Great vid btw!

Great video. When I went for a iron lesson I started hitting it longer when I was swinging it slower 🤣 My coach showed me how to swing and all he really changed was my take off and shorten my back swing. All of a sudden iwas gaining yards. But much more important I was getting very consistent all of a sudden. A small baby draw and hitting the same yards on most shots. Instead of a fade to slice shot that could vary 10-20 yards

Great video Simon. I started golfing 5 years ago now with an old set of clubs my buddy loaned me. Bought my driver based on a video of yours. The Cobra F-9. You said it looked like bumblebee from transformers but you hit it well and seemed surprised. Lol. Since then I've had it fitted and learned the correct way to hit it and i honestly don't think i could do better with any of the new drivers. Consistent and down the middle is always the best.

Simon, now that you have your studio up and running your instructional videos are top drawer. As senior golfer just getting back into the sport, the level of information you impart is brilliant and makes total sense. I know my driver will go 235yds as I’ve measured it, but more often than not it’s nearer 200. My thinking has been to chase more ball speed, when clearly that’s not the answer. I’m off to the range to work on your advice. Thanks again. Great content.

Brilliant! Just bought secondhand g425 and was considering new here in Oz. Saved me a heap of money. 55gm Stiff shaft and 9 deg lofted up to 10.5. Hoping this helps with swing path. Old driver was epic flash 10.5 with reg 50gm shaft. I swing at 90 to 100mph. Crappy little, but playable fade/slice off the tee that would balloon that was safe for me but only went 200 yards. I can hit my 5 wood off the tee further than that and was wondering why. Going to get to work on that swing path now!! Thank you!!!

Super speed golf put out a chart, easily searchable online, that reflects how far you should hit every club in the bag based on your driver head speed. While it may not be 100% accurate because of the quality of hit, efficiency rating, but it surely is easily 95% accurate or better. Plus it gets you in the ballpark. You can also find relative distances Average PGA Tour Players, LPGA players, Senior Tour players, based on launch monitor data. Excellent comparing tool

@SASGolf
@SASGolf Год назад
I would say if you want to reduce your spin a bit, hands have to be online or ahead of the ball. I exaggerated a lot as was using a 13.5 driver and light flex shaft. A driver that’s suited to you and is spinning too much, you will either need to hit more up on it or push your hands forward at impact. Tough to say without seeing your swing though. Hope that makes sense!
