Depending on the thickness of the steak, you cook 7 mins on one side and 7 on the other. If the grill is really hot I'd personally go 5 or 6 mins on each side. The key is getting that timing right. Also use charcoal grill, not gas. Gas fails to get the smoky flavoring into the meat. Gas is faster, but the taste is never right. Keep the top vent mostly closed, preferably completely closed. Also it's better if you cook straight on the metal rack rather than foil, it cooks faster and allows more smoky flavor to get into the steak.
