Mirrorless cameras focus "on sensor" as opposed to having a separate AF sensor. Thus, there is no longer any inaccuracy since you're focusing directly on the sensor!
Good video man. Totally agree with you as far as Canon mirror-less performance with the Sigma Art lenses (adapted). The 40mm 1.4 is crazy sharp on every system I use but I had issues with it on the 5DS. I then put it on the EOS R and now it's perfect focus every time. The R drops me down to 30mp from 50 on the 5DS but is so good, you'd have to pixel peep to see a difference.
The Sigma 85 Art would have its focal plane move back and forth, even shooting against a test chart for focus calibration using a dslr. When I tried it on the original R, boom problem solved.
I think it's up to Canon to open the RF mount. There's copyright issues or something for third party lens makers. It's honestly holding Canon back from being the best system available IMO
@@FranciscoAlvarezTV can you imagine Samyang quality autofocus lenses 16, 20, 24, 35, 50, 85, 135 for RF and the Canon ergonomics? It would be a game changer for the system
Just adapt the Sigma Art lenses... that's what I do. The 50mm Art focuses faster than the native RF 50 (both the 1.8 and 1.2) and is 99% as sharp as the RF 50 1.2, for 1/3 the price.
Sigma need to release RF lenses. I own Sigma 35mm f1.4 works nicely with my R6 but mixing RF with EF is a pain you never know which lens have adapter on. Solution is to put adapters on all EF lenses in your bag.
Bought one for the canon R and sold it after a few days.... latested firmware installed and still geting the bands and underexposing issues.I find that it misses a lot of focus. search on the web and it seems like it a lens that give some problems with canon.
I have a problem with the R5 and sigma 35 1.4 backfocus in vertical orientation. In horizontal orientation I have no problem. Sigma 85 1.4 work nice in both orientations.
Dig you reset the autofokus tweaks from dslr time or kept it the same? I still dosent trust it More than 95% tiny bit front focus on Z6 also love the look Will nerver sell my sigma 35 and 20 1.4 Art.
Welp, I noticed the same thing when I switched over to the EOS R a few years ago. When I told fellow photographers that "somehow" the EOS R nails focus on my large aperture lenses where no DSLR could (1Dx, 1Ds, 1Ds2, 1D3, 1D4, 5Ds, etc etc), they always look at me in a really strange way. It's good to know someone else feels the same. LOL
Hi Taylotr, any thoughts about a 50mm or 35mm as your sole prime? I like shooting the 35 because I can get close and work more angles, but that 50mm truly creates magic when it connects. Would like to hear your thoughts about it.
Well they Dident. The focus motor is very slow. Even with the latest firmware. It’s a great lens but if you’d like to use burst shooting, on the R5/6/3 you can’t, or if you’d like to track quick moving subjects, like people on the dance floor or a moving toddler, it fails heavily.
You would pick this over the rf 35 1.8, the one you stated is your favorite rf lens? I’ve had both and like the rf 35 1.8 better. It’s sharper, focuses faster and has IS which comes in handy when shooting hybrid and doing video.
I feel like the ART HSM lenses are all very clinical, BUT the new DG DN Series from Sigma have quite nice rendering in my opinion. Sigma is on a tear right now.
