I remember being in Dallas, TX nearly 20 years ago, and seeing Old Glory on a flagpole in the corner of a shopping mall's parking lot. This flag was by the intersection of two streets, and was so big you could see it from 2 or 3 blocks away. Did the flag scare me? Er, nooooo. I must be made of sterner stuff than Sarah Silverman. I think that a piece of legislation that requires Anyone who gets elected into Public Office, anyone nominated for a Judicial or Bureaucratic Appointments ALL be required to Take a Standardized Civics Exam and achieve a minimum of 75% or higher in order to qualify! As to whether or not such an exam should be apart of a short but relevant list of mandatory minimum qualification requirements that must be provided before anyone can make an official announcement of their intention to run for public office. As well as be part of a small but relevant list of minimum qualification requirements in order to even qualify for consideration as a nomination for a top bureaucratic or Judicial appointment. These days, as anyone who has ever watched any of the Senate hearings/ investigations for Federal Judicial appointments from 2008 onwards (but most especially from 2012 onwards) should well agree by how actually shocking it is to witness some of these nominees being interviewed by Senate Committee members, we are talking people who are Top of their classes at Harvard ( both University and Law School), not to mention have already acquired years of experience serving on the bench at tbe state and or county level, thus should know the state and likely the Federal Judicial Code backwards and Forwards by now. Not too mention should have no problem reciting every single Constitutional amendment word for word, if asked to do so, with each one being chosen completely at random at that!!! But now it is not even unusual to see currently serving lower court federal judges who can't even answer what rights are contained in the original Bill of Rights when asked to do so at at random!!! A Federal Judge who can't answer and explain what rights are covered in The Bill of Rights, and provide a brief summary of what protections each one offers, let alone why they are so Important!!! And this Administration ( just like the Obama administration before it) were nominating these idiots as CANDIDATES FOR POSSIBLE APPOINTMENT TO THE FEDERAL High Courts!!!
