Time to take a look at figure sets in 1/35 for American and German troops from WW2. Very interesting details and a quality package!

Tamiya box art is the best. Fantastic paintings that stir the imagination. If you are ever in Shizuoka, Japan, visit the Tamiya corporate offices (South of Mt Fuji) that have a museum (including commissioned paintings for the box art!) and a great gift shop. (Appointment needed, your hostel/guesthouse/hotel can do this for you) There is a well tended koi pool right outside. I found out where the factory is and walked to it. You can get the whiff of the plastic that is being poured into molds and see the trucks rolling out with outgoing shipments.

@YouTubeSaysThereCantBeTwoRyans
British? What about commonwealth in general? As a Canadian, I won't mind buying a British set that came with Canadian markings...but even the aftermarket is slacking. Yes I can buy a British Sherman and crew, but now I have to spend $60+ for aftermarket tank and infanty markings? I could buy a decent stock model for that price, and can have just as much fun building it. We had the same gear as you Brits! Don't you guys remember you gave us all of the gear we were using? I mean, I guess I can't complain too much, because options for me are faintly out there...but I guess I'm just some guy rambling on...
@MrGoldenV
@MrGoldenV Год назад
@@RU-vidSaysThereCantBeTwoRyans Agreed. Really what I meant by British is the coalition of forces in the commonwealth. It covers most theatres and isn't recognised enough imo

Tamiya has certainly come a long way when you think about their awful old 1970s/1980s figures. They’re a great alternative to $20 resin figures. I understand your point about the usefulness of more static poses to stick on a base next to a vehicle, but there’s a real dearth of good quality figures in action poses to help you create drama and tell a story.

Tamiya's simple attempt to 3D scan a person and create a 1/35 scale injection kit was successful. Miniart's kit had few failures in human body modeling due to the extraordinary craftsman's modeling technology. Tamiya has a 3D scanned model with comparable quality. I am also looking forward to seeing how the lineup will be expanded in the future.

The details are good and crisp from one who has built Tamiya kits since 1970 it saddens me that some figures are no longer available. Like the flak crew on the Early SDKFZ 7/1 Quad flack cannon with crew the were in winter clothing . You can still find the kit, but they have standard weight uniforms. Plus as far as I know the never made a Afrika Corps Tropica version of the crew. Just as they have a habit of discontinuing some models of weapons vehicle combo sets. I know that some sets get stale and don't sell well any more . But I think if the could do a bundle for a series like Anti Aircraft guns with crews single 2cm , quad 2cm. 3.7 cm and .88 mm flack guns. Or half tracked like a light 1 ton to the Famo series. Plus, you could do a vehicle series like the kluben , swimagen Horch Protze Ect. Because to me, it sucks to raid multiple kits to get the correct equipment, figures for a diorama, and when some are no longer discontinued from being offered, are getting costly just to rob parts. I would prefer to have to pay a bit more for, say, a "premium" version of a kit with enhanced build options and special metal parts . Example say a M113 APC kit is discontinued, the motor version is discontinued. But you can get the crew-served mortar weapon and crew figures. You can also get the M113 Acav versions. Why not since they both use basically the same chassis running gear. Why not design a slightly higher price point kit that would say all you to built say two of three kit options. But what the hey do I know, I have been building models for over forty-five years. I have seen some good trends in the industry and a lot of crap . One trend I've seen go the way of the dodo was, like, I stated, where you had the opportunity to decide what versions of the model you were going to build . Most of the packaged kits were a double kit, so you could build two of the same model (example halfthack) or make one troop carrier and one anti Aircraft model. Plus, you had extra parts for detail and building wrecked equipment. Tamiya used to offer their package series, but 99.96 % they are either sold out or discontinuing them.

Tamiya is tip of an Iceberg. There are many resin figures both poured & printed & branching off to other scales. 1/16 scale is on the rise. I have so many 1/35 specialty figures. I seldom do combat scenes in diorama's. It's always some behind the lines moments. Got a big a$$ German rail yard diorama complete with locomotive loading up AA cars onto a train for protection. Perfect figures to enhance the scene also. Border's & Miniart contribute greatly to the figure market.

@DeltaEchoGolf
@DeltaEchoGolf Год назад
To put it simply. There was more variety when it came to the German uniform. Especially after 1942. Most countries during the war were strict when it came to uniform regulations. Especially the Allies. Only the Italian RSI forces would come second to the Germans when it came to variety of uniforms.
@martinoconnor4314
@martinoconnor4314 Год назад
@@DeltaEchoGolf Good point, but Allied uniforms still had insignia so surely a single sheet to cover some of the more common Allied decals would benefit modellers. I have seen an Allied decal sheet on a Chinese site that covered US Airborne but with the postage cost it was rather expensive and probably of dubious quality.

G'day Champion, Yes, these figures are great. I'm mostly an aircraft modeller and I'd love to do more of my aircraft in flight. This is a problem as less than 5% of aircraft kits come with pilot figures. Do you or any of your kind audience know of suppliers of WW2 and modern pilot figures in 1/48; 32; and 24 scale? I'd really appreciate some leads as my internet searches don't come up with what I'm looking for. Cheers, and best regards, Bill H.

About the only thing missing is photo-ecthed rifle slings. They need to do more British figures, they've made almost NONE in the last 20yrs. Russian figures are uncommon for them as well, outside of the few in kits, m3 scout car, old t-34/85. Suprised they make so little Japanese anything. But, yes their details have become too notch, as good as some resin & less expensive.

August 30, 2023---Thanks for the video but didn't see you using a scale ruller on the standing figures. The reason for this is are they actual scale figures from the WW 2 time frame? I Googled this info and average height for Americans and Europeans was 5' 8" tall. Noticed size differences when I compared a Italeri German figure who was 6' tall. Dad was with Patton's army and he was 5' 8" tall. Japanese were 5' 6" tall. Into zombie/apocalypse dioramas now so it'll help having different sized figures after I modify them into civillians.
