THEY LEFT EVERYTHING BEHIND "Bobbie's Buckeye Bar" Abandoned Tonopah Brothel
Decided to go off the beating path while in Tonopah Nevada. So Bobbie's Buckeye Bar was a legal brothel in Tonopah. Ran by Bobbie Himes until her death in 1989. She would soon find her way from Montana to Tonopah in 1941. Tonopah was a mining town and a home for an Air Force Base in 1948. So with that being said it serviced many in that field. They once tried to close down the brothel in 1952 calling it a public nuisance. shortly after a murder off one of the prostitutes Alice Nashlund. Sad thing shortly after Bobbie's death Nevada past legal prostitution. The property has been abandoned since 1990. Surprising me in the shape it is today.

The murder happened in town which caused the houses in the red light district to shut down. That’s when Bobbie opened this place on the edge of town. The house in the center was the first building put here on the site of the old mine. Once brothels were legalized in the 70s she brought in the trailers to expand. It shut down after she passed away in 1989. In the 90s there was hope to reopen this brothel but the county had changed the code on how far they had to be from the highway.

Super informative. 🎉 My LLC is actually looking into trying to buy that property. I also have a political action committee and considering doing a Nye County ballot initiative to have voters vote on changing the Highway/street distance from 300 yards (900 feet) to 50 yards (150 feet). Tonopah needs brothels and changing that code is like the only way more brothels can open. For those who might say Nye has enough brothels, well: Chicken Ranch and Sheri’s are just overpriced and overhyped. $2,000 for an hour…with no kissing or anything. 😅

@@RussellGreerOfficial if you go to Esmeralda county you’ll have an easier time. Tonopah sits on the border of the two counties. Esmeralda has more perks than Nye and the county needs the money. I personally thought cottontail was a great location if done correctly

@@kaseylee7607we were interested in Cottontail (in Esmeralda) until some idiot (religious zealot, maybe?) burned it down. I need to try finding the owner of the Cottontail because that is a good idea. But yeah, 2024 is going to be a busy year, as my PAC is doing 9 ballot measures to legalize across Nevada, including Reno. So expect the map to change in 2024 with establishments.

I grew up there in the 70's and loved seeing the disgusting husk of what was left. Good riddance Tonopah may you continue to get what you deserve. I hate that town.

I spent 1987 as a 13 year old girl and at that time I heard rumors of the sheriff's department deputies hustling girls my at the time. I was so thankful to move at the end of that year. I don't care to ever go back!
