I didn’t like Blue Madeleine at first I wanted MADELEINE but I wasn’t getting it. And then I just found myself wanting to sniff it all day everyday 😂 so I got it, it’s not madeleine for me but to my nose it’s so soft and sweet, it’s sooo interesting to see how someone can love a fragrance while someone else can get something totally different from the same fragrance!

Afternoon Delight was a huge fail for me. I got a sour spoiled milk scent all day and made me sick. When I returned mine the girl was saying she had 5 other people come in returning theirs.

my #1 personal "what on earth is everyone else smelling" is still d&g devotion. i smell it every chance i get just in case i just keep going to stores with faulty testers-- nope, still smells like lemon scented raid. i can't walk around smelling like i got roaches. akro bake also smells like lemon cleaner to me, so maybe i'm just picky with lemon notes in fragrances. i just want to smell like a lemon cupcake already!

Bianco Latte / Eclaire was the most hyped Lie for me, it made me nauseous and I had to take a shower lol. Also the new Maison Crivelli Oud Cadenza (Harrods exclusive) that was such a fail, I got a sample and was disappointed.

I hope I don’t feel that way when I finally try one of those! 😢 I was disappointed in how Shaghaf Oud Tonka doesn’t smell like almond biscotti to me like it does to everyone else. I just smell old lady who applied too much.

It’s fascinating that so many people think Encore Une Fois smells like SDV. To me they smell very different and I strongly prefer EUF. Noses are funny!

Oh no, but that just shows how differently we all smell perfumes. Afternoon Delight, Pear Gelato and Nota Sugar are all winners for me. Actually, Nota Sugar Is one of my all-time favorites! But I don’t smell it exactly like some people describe - to my nose it is melted sugar with a few drops of lemon and a good amount of pineapple

I'm always surprised to hear how much used fragrance gets returned by US creators and I assume the public. In Australia that's not a thing unless it's faulty etc. You don't return it just because you choose the wrong scent. The waste must be shocking!

@brookef2368 Well, in the U.S. there are companies like Frag flex that sell returned scents for huge discounts. Sometimes it's for things like leaky bottles that they get returned, though that doesn't say much for the quality control in these perfume houses

That’s crazy how perfumes are different on our skin. I love nest vanilla. What strange on my skin is the Donna Karen one. Something in the opening just bothers my nose.

Pear Gelato...grew on me - literally compliments every time I wear it! Agree on others in the line though...they seem off to me as well, except Aegean Salt and Citrus, which is simple and lovely, and Alluring Fig which is weird to me but I still like it!

Ahhhhh Sharida as a tea obsessed person Blue Madeline is a realistic dark almost smoky tea lovers dream!! It’s like lactonic slightly sweet tea while someone is burning incense in another room hahahahahhaha But she ain’t for everyone. And I don’t get cookies! Just tea slightly sweetened

Afternoon Delight disappointed me too, it really did make me sick 😔there are notes of Angelica root, bitter almond and carrot heart listed on the official Maison Margiela website so maybe those are causing it to smell funky 😟

Peaches Revenge. I was sooo excited because of all the hype and the notes. That was a huge NO. I didn’t get beyond sniffing the nozzle for the first day. Finally put it on paper and had to throw the strip in the outside garbage. It was very offensive to my nose.

I got the same reaction!! I couldn’t bring myself to spray Peach’s revenge on my skin due to how repulsive it smelled on the paper!! It’s a NO for me!!!

I’m still going to smell Afternoon Delight when we get it, it has so many mixed reviews🤔🤔. I was gifted a decant of Madeleine and I have yet to wear it😉😉 Queen Of Silk was ac omelette fail for me, the opening is quite lovely however the dry ruined the fragrance for me😩😩. Also the Kayali Vacation In A Bottle minis, I only love Maui and Maldives and I’m so glad I waited for the individual 10ml😍😍. Stay gorgeous 🥰🥰

Ohhhh I’ve been waiting for the review on Afternoon Delight!!! Hahahaha and also that Nota Sugar was a no for me but their 2nd release Nota Loco is a nice average tropical scent that is pleasing but it’s not a neeeeed. If someone gifted me with it though I would wear it haha😊

It sounds crazy, but on my skin, Italica smells like cilantro! I can get the sweet, gourmand notes underneath, but the cilantro note overpowers everything. It was so disappointing because I thought there was no way I could go wrong with the notes! The other one that did not work out for me was Blanche Bete. I usually love lactonic fragrances, but that one literally smelled like baby vomit or sour baby milk on my skin. I know so many people love these 2 fragrances, so it is definitely a skin chemistry issue. So I am totally with you - even if the notes sound absolutely perfect for you, you just never know how it will behave on your skin!

Coty encore is absolutely beautiful and while it does resemble SDV, it’s much less boozy and has excellent performance on my skin. I wanted to love SDV both its longevity was horrendous on me and it smelled like rum was poured on me.

Burberry Goddess and Devotion...both originals. I didn't understand the hype. Devotion made me nauseous and all i got from Burberry Goddess was lavender. And being a vanilla lover, i was so disappointed 😞

I’ve had 2 blind buy fails. Looking at the notes the sound like they would be beautiful scents but once sprayed I wouldn’t say I hate them they’re just not the vibe I thought they would be. And they’re both Montale sadly… Starry Nights and Pink Ecstasy. Still have them but want to sell definitely.

I was so interested in Nota Sugar I heard it wasn’t that great but Nota Loca is better. I got a sample and it is an absolute love for me. The tropical notes are more prominent than the vanilla. It is beautiful.

I was so excited for Afternoon Delight and Bourbon Vanilla and they were so disappointing. I just got a bottle of D&G Devotion Intense and it’s similar to the original but the citrus is definitely toned down, not as sharp, don’t know how I feel about it just yet. Great video as always ❤

Mon Guerlain by Guerlain was a huge fail for me! I was hugely influenced to purchase it and once I did and tried it, the projection was so weak (I found the scent too dainty and soft - I on the other hand prefer beast mode fragrances) and it lasted just over 10 minutes on me - I don’t know if I received a bad batch but it was the only perfume in my collection that I can truly say I absolutely would not buy it again and if someone were to offer it to me as a gift, I would kindly refuse it 😅

Girl like I was saying Vanilla crush 🙄 You can get the very same smell at bath and body works and I am not joking! I paid 156$ in total for it, and I immediately sold it. Wayyy too basic for the price. I highly recommend you get a sample before purchasing it. Of course if I got it for free I would keep it, but I sure wouldn’t pay 156$ for it again. It literally smells like straight vanilla extract. You can’t smell the pear. You can’t smell the iris. You can smell the spun sugar a bit, but you hardly smell the musk either. The day down has this playdoughy smell to it as well. If vanilla crush was 50$ I would buy it, but for 153$? No mam. I sold it on my Mercari, and now I’m gonna go for something actually worth the price. I appreciate your honesty the MOST, because honestly if I got a bunch of fragrances for free, I would probably be hyping them too…na I wouldn’t. I gotta keep it real 😂

Fragrance is so subjective. Yes, you really need to sample on yourself despite how tempting blind buying a delicious scent can be!

Noses are so different. Nota Sugar is great on me, not chemical at all. Pear Gelato also isn’t chemical at all on me.

Great video! I wasn't impressed with Roja's Isola Sol. It wasn't horrible just meh, and I hoped to love it. Luckily, I only purchased two 1.5ml samples. Another letdown was Ambrosia Imperial. I've had it for a while and hoped it would become what everyone talks about. All I smell is the banana Runts candy on my skin. But I can appreciate that most people love it.

Ambrosia imperial was huge disappointment for me as well. On me I got a harsh green unripe banana type smell in the opening that ruined it for me

To some extent, I feel as though our olfactory sensory neurons (sense of smell) are based on genetics. In the same manner that some of us can eat asparagus with no repercussions, then there's those of us who pay for it later! 😂 It's very interesting.

I can’t stand Bianco Latte it’s like Vanilla cigarette smoke. And although people adore Mojave Ghost and Gypsy Water… I am nose blind to both… can’t smell a thing. SMH *I love it when we all smell something different when we sample fragrance. We really don’t smell the same things when we try these scents. And it’s fun. I Love it! **I really liked Vanilla Bourbon, reminds me of Nirvana Bourbon by Elizabeth & James.

I got a sample of Blue Madeleine because I love tea scents. But it just didn't work for me. Smell mostly Cade oil :blech:. No milk no praline no Peruvian balsam. ABSOLUTELY not gourmand for me. I got a 5ml sample and I keep trying it to see if maybe... but no. I was so sad about this. I really love Eau Duelle EDT and I wanted something similar.

Shaghaf Oud Tonka is the one I longed for and finally found a good deal on…only to learn it is a strong, sweet floral to me, and I barely get the almonds and vanilla everyone else gets. I can hardly identify Tonka, and I have already heard there is no Oud in it. The color of the bottle is darling so I have it in a drawer to macerate. Also spraying it once a month as recommended. But talk about not smelling at all like I imagined. I don’t know how people are getting the notes they claim. Mandela effect?

People's noses just perceive different notes in their individual way. I get more tonka, vanilla and white floral than anything. It's powdery, but I love everything about it really.

I blind bought Nota Sugar this week, yet to be delivered, but I wonder how it will turn out on my skin 🤔. I have had too many fails this and last month, so I think I will be going on a no buy for a while. My biggest disappointed this year is the house of BTSO. I bought two, tested two, and they were all four a huge, huge NO to the point where I was disgusted. And their names are so incredibly misleading, because you get the gourmand notes for about a minute before it turns into a burning, motor oil kind of smell. It was like I was standing in a garage where there were several fluids leaking and every other kind of smell you get in those places. If there is cypriol oil in it, believe me: you are gonna get cypriol oil all the way, choking out all of the beautifuil accords.

Regarding AFTERNOON DELIGHT [ 1:57 ], I’ve found that scents, much like music, have a unique way of being etched in our brains and tied to the experiences we were having at the time. Do you think that because you first tested AFTERNOON DELIGHT during your kitchen renovation, your brain now associates it with the reno chemical smells, making it hard to experience it fully?

Blue Madeline was god awful. They never should have marketed it as a cookie gormound, IMO. It's a smokey aromatic scent. Kalotinis has never worked for me and I always want to support that house but its a no on my skin.
