That guy's question to them at the beginning had me answering: 'Um... because it is based off Disney's 'The Lion King,' the greatest Disney movie ever 0.o
I finally got to see the Broadway show this weekend...it was worth every penny for the ticket! The sets were convincing, the costumes were gorgeous, and the actors were amazing! I will never forget this glorious show!
I just saw the Lion King for the first time on Broadway and I was blown away...especially the way tshidi manye sang "he lives in you" - simply magical. I paid an arm and a leg for tix and would do it again just to hear her perform again!!!!
I saw this eight years ago, and then two years later and it still lives in my mind, a vibrant memory of true brilliance. I can't see this closing any time soon but when it does it will be a sad day for the theatre world.
i have always loved this movie since i was little and im sure i will love the performance just as much when i finally see it in a week! rock on LION KING!!!!!!!!!!!
My most loved film of all time still is to this day and i have it still on vcr and this song has always been my most loved as well and i learnt the song off by heart and so was the main vocalist when my school did this for its performance, wish my costume was as good as theirs though xxxx
I've seen a lot of movie and tv actors do Broadway or West End plays either because it's a hobby, they need a break, or are between projects. With the Lion King, who'd want to leave a major role in that play?
I like Tsidii Le Loka and Jason Raize who played Rafiki & Simba in the Original Broadway cast of The Lion King. I like the two people in this clip but I Like Tsidii Le Loka & Jason Raize much better.
saw this twice once in canada and once in toledo...this song is beautiful the performance is brilliant. These actors prop designers everyone associated with this modern masterpiece deserve so much more credit then what is shoved down our throats in modern media... i loved this R.I.P. Jason that man also was a talented individual who had a tragic end.
@TheNewKeylaleigh no it's just that in "they live in you" mufasa is singing to baby simba, in this one mufasa is dead... i think it's a different song couse also he lives in you it's in the broadway version
I dont get why Tshidi doesn't go the high part at the start of the last chorus when ever she is doing this song in a live concert (and she sometimes does not do it in the show either) but I love her, every since way back in the Toronto production
Hey! I’m a Lion King fan from the future, and listening to Endless Night as a full grown adult makes me tear up, especially knowing what Jason Raize went through. I pray that his soul is resting in a better place and I pray that we’ll meet in the next life.
damn right, you respect the others that do perform that part but Jason kicked some ass. And I liked the the performance on the Rosie O Donell show better than this new one.
Last time I saw was the 10th birthday in '09 and in '04. I would love to watch it again! (I swear the 10th birthday for broadway was '07 as I have the 97 broadway cast recording. They never bring out a West End recording which is v.annoying.)
Honestly, I miss Jason Raize's voice. Don't get me wrong, this Simba is clearly phenomenal, but anyone who watched the Rosie O'Donnell clip may better understand what I'm saying. I watched that vid by itself & just thought Raize was good, but when I compare it, it's nuts--he was BELTING out those notes, he was neck-deep in the emotion. All the best to these performers, but I'll always know who my favorite is.
i heard him sing live about a year after it had been on broadway, and I've had the cast soundtrack since then too, so yea i definitely know what you mean. He was just amazing. and yes he could BELT those notes out. he knew how to stress and put emphasis in it and make it sound so natural. I was depressed for a good week or two when I heard what happened to him. this simba is trying to but it sounds fake and forced. he does have a good voice though.
It would make more sense if they showed the entire scene. They left out the part where Mufasa reappears and then Simba announces he's going back. It explains the sudden celebration.
@TheNewKeylaleigh no it's just that in they live in u mufasa is singing different lyrics, in he lives in u (this one) mufasa is dead.. it's a different song, couse both they live in u and he lives in you are on the brodway version.
Ooh, that could be. I knew there was something completely "off" about this performance. When I watch this or the version on The View, all I can think of is the personification (lionification?) of the (yes, 12-year-old) internet posters who go, "HAHA LOL." Not at all how I remember it from seeing the show live or Mr. Raize's beautiful performance on Rosie. I know that the latter is technically a conglomeration of two scenes, but it's awesome!
Dachaun Young is little bit better than Andile Gumbi as far as Simbas go (Although Andile is in no way bad at all, he's pretty super too!) but I really can't decide which Rafiki I like more, Tshidi Manye or Brown Lindiwe Mkhize. They're both amazing. Love this song!! In the movie, Can You Feel the Love Tonight is best, but in the show, I think this one shares first place with Endless Night.
Wow! This is a very beautiful version of the song. I love the beat, the singers' voices, chorus & choreography in this one a lot. Very enchanting & magical. This one is a keeper. Please don't take this off of RU-vid. By the way, I am very curious, what was Simba saying before he sings "He lives in me" on 3:25? & what is Rafiki saying on 2:56, 3:05-3:08, 3:13-3:17? :D
what Rafiki was saying is a local dialect language called Xhosa native to South Africa..so you won't or probably never Understand it if you ain't from south Africa or distinct to that language "xhosa".
thats Josette Bushell-Mingo?? if so i think shes just an amazing singer and actress... this one is unreal aswell but i think the power that josette brings just makes her that much better
After reading your post again, I think I must have been misunderstood more than I thought, especially since you felt the need to insult me. The only reason I can think of for someone wanting to insult me is if I have offended them in some way. I do apologize if that is what happened; it certainly wasn't my intention.
