The only enemy Sonic couldn't outrun was SEGA themselves

The whole sonic boom era wasn't good at all, but what made it shine was it's legendary tv show, you should react to "Sonic Boom out of context", trust me you're gonna love it

"People were sick of speed. They wanted to slow down." That claim about Sonic being too fast was very much taken the wrong way. In Sonic '06 and even in Unleashed, moments where Sonic can reach high speeds...were HARD TO CONTROL. People couldn't turn well when Sonic picked up that much speed. Granted, Unleashed introduced drifting, but that's beside the point. Players didn't want to SLOW DOWN, they wanted BETTER CONTROL AT HIGH SPEEDS. BigRedButton definitely got the shaft when they were handed the Wii U ultimatum at the last minute. This was a time where Sega just kept screwing up with its own flagship franchise multiple times. With X-Treme...you'll probably understand how pissed people got about Sega's past.

I recommend the "What Happened?" on Godzilla 98. You have to truly understand what went wrong, what could've been, and why we Godzilla fans have hated it ever since.

I don't watch Sonic Boom but clip I like was the Stakeout scene Sonic: “We been here all day. Stakeouts are never like this on TV. There’s usually two lines of dialogue and then they find their guy.” Victor: “Yeah well life’s not like TV.” Sonic: “There he is!”

So okay, here's how the Knuckles glitch worked: You play as Knuckles, you jump, pause, unpause, then press jump again. The pause reset his jump script so you could just do it infinitely. The sequence-breaking was off the chart, as a result. There were people who beat the game in less than an hour thanks to the glitch. Unfortunately, it got patched out.

There’s a youtuber called Charriii5 who went through every single Sonic game and some other series counting all of their “sins” in his “Everything Wrong With” videos. I’ve recommended him before, the videos are really good

Crash Bandicoot went through a similar style change and button mashing beat em up phase like this. It was much better put together, but still not in vain of what he was known for.

Yeah, I have to agree on a reaction to Sonic Boom Out of Context the Movie. It's a bunch of clips from the cartoon, rather than the game, which was a legit fun thing to watch that only got two seasons, probably because of the backlash from the game being forcibly turned into an untied tie-in.

Poor Sonic Boom...It had potential. The cartoon was amazing though.

How in the world did I miss you uploading a reaction to one of my favorite RU-vidrs last week? Seriously, I love Matt and his content, even going back to his days in the Super Best Friends. Guess I'll be going back to watch that as soon as I'm done with this video. Also, for the sake of clarity, the "What Happened" videos don't cover "bad games", necessarily. They cover games (and movies) that had a messy development cycle. Some of the games, like Doom, turned out great despite their production being rough.

Now that you mention it, you definitely should react to what happened on doom (2016), it’s one of his very rare episodes on covering a game that’s actually good

13:54 You are very correct sir, the Devs and QA are not to blame in 99% of cases, it's the bean counters and suits who fuck around and the rest of us have to find out how it affects our current jobs and future prospects. Been in the game industry for more or less 11 Years, ~6 years in 3rd party, heading towards my 6th in a 1st Party AAA Studio. I refer to it as being in the Trenches, like in war. You never choose who is in the foxhole with you, but you look after each other as best you can in this hell.

Basically, Sega screwed Big Red Button by forcing them to change basically everything just one year from the fixed release date and made them do the exact opposite of what was originally agreed on.

This makes me so sad because it makes you wonder how interesting and possibly good the game would have been if SEGA just let the creators cook with what they were going for in the first place

I honestly do think if Big Red Button was able to do just what they wanted, or at least with way less SEGA meddling and not being a WiiU exclusive it probably would have been a pretty enjoyable game, probably not the best out there as many people would say its bad just because it is so different, but probably still a pretty fun spin-off or its own thing

I don't even know which What Hapenned vid to recommend next, but I'm happy you're watching this series. Maybe the one on the Wii U? Also, I'd love more Scott the Woz content.

So the deal with Matt McMuscles "What Happened?" videos is that it isn't solely focusing on bad games, but rather anything with a tumultuous development or history, be it a good game or a bad one... Games that went through development hell, rocky receptions, tons of controversy, and also "What went wrong?" An example of this being Crash Twinsanity where it had a TON of content that was cut from the final product yet somehow made it a good yet playable game; or Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning which was well received but the history behind the developers and how the game was made is a lot more interesting.

If you thinking of checking out some more "What Happened?", the Street Fighter The Movie The Game one is pretty entertaining just from the idea alone.

Watch the Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game one. It's... an adventure. Also, the Street Fighter 3 one just for an example of a GOOD Street Fighter game. Also on what you said about Matt doing a Wha Happun on Doom 2016 despite it being a great game, he usually explains that at the start of episodes about GOOD games - these are tales of troubled development. Which has occassionally had happy endings when the thing comes out and it's actually good - Doom 2016, Street Fighter 3, Metal Gear Rising, etc.
