I still would love to see Vryn in full. Maybe Jace goes there(using his magic to hide his phyrexianized self of it is still possible), as he wants to introduce Vraska to his parents. But then the Ampryn League and the separatists get in a dispute and he has to work with the Ring mages, and fight back the forces that threat his family? I think it actually would be neat to see the political aspects and the world building of it’s world.
Segovia it's also illustrated in an old planechase card, where all creatures get -5/-0, and its chaos ability demonstrates that even a small plane must have some dangers.
While visiting Segovia would be likely fun and interesting, from a game design perspective it could be tricky to pull off, with the risk of cards being either underpowered due to small statlines or overpowered due to low mana cost and powerful effects. I think the best option would be probably to keep adding elements from Segovia in special sets: it would be very helpful for tribes normally made of big expensive creatures like angels, demons and krakens to have something to fill the lower part of the curve.
Seeing Segovia would be awesome, and Segovian Angel is one of my favorite cards. And it was actually an army of angels vs an army of gnats, which was the multiverses least destructive battles. But still really cool. And Azgol would be fun to see as well, maybe as the next place we see Ob Nixilis, and perhaps it will have tons of demons as well as zombies.
I would love for us to go to Azgol, and despite its hellish appearance and sacrifice heavy culture, it turns out to be one of the planes with the happiest populace. No evil threats, rebellions, or uprisings, everyone is just chilling like “yeah, the fire zombies do a good job keeping anything from attacking us.”
Now that I know Segovia exists, I DEMAND a set there. It would be hilarious and also great for making "big mana creatures" way more playable in more formats by having them be tiny, like a gecko sized dragon. All of the permanents would be cheap and efficient, there would probably be no ramp cards, and the nonpermanents would probably be cheap as well. It would be such a unique set.
If it is full of 1-3 mana creatures that are small and french vanilla, cantrip type spells in every color they can reprint, and finally any 'larger' cost spells can be things like battles, small (miniature) armies, enchantments, and whatever gunk got dropped into it. It could fit just fine for a standard set.
Of these, Tolvada interests me the most, as White/Black is arguably my favorite dual color mana pairing, which this plane seems to be heavily focused around, Kaya is one of my favorite Planeswalkers currently, and I'd love to see some continuation of Gothic/classical horror elements with a ghost focus. As an aside, I'm really hoping we see Ashiok's home plane if we haven't already. They're my favorite Planeswalker for both aesthetics and abilities, so I really want to know what kind of place they come from that made them like that.
I really wonder how Blue, White and Green mana would impact Azgol. I know for a fact that volcanic dust is incredibly rich of minerals that actually help plants grow healthier, but this also needs water and light, so maybe somewhere in Azgol there might be some sort of grove which acts as an oasis in an otherwise hellish plane, with White, Blue and Green as its identity
I like to think Segovia was one of the planes that had a decisive victory over the Phyrexians, specifically the Segovians being very small allowed them to avoid the oil very well even while battling their invaders, and because of their size they were so underestimated that no one bothered checking on the initial invasion team so basically just two dudes showed up, were drowned by a tiny army of sea monsters, and then no one else showed up
I suspect we will be getting a set which has 5 planes heavily influenced by one color of mana Azgol = everything is red Belenon = Everything is White Muraganda = Everything is green ? = Everything is blue Tolvada?= Everything is Black
I really hope we go there and there is a legendary creature that it red white and blue and cares about walls. Hopefully he has orange skin and blonde hair
So I think the multiverse is actually going to more connected now than ever. The reason I think this is cause the invasion portal on New Capenna stayed open after the root of Realm Breaker receded through it, allowing angels to go to Theros and help Kaya kill Heliod. If I'm right, then we're going to see planes mix and interact in a way we never have before
interestingly enough Giada states that the Angels that went to New Phyrexia won´t be able to return and it is only later revealed that Phyrexia and Zhalfir are switching places so that could mean that either the angels already knew what would happen or that the defeat of the Phyrexians will seal the portals again
It would also give WotC a convenient mechanism for having sets take place on planes that appear to have an imbalance among the colors, like black- and red- based Azgol or white-dominant Balenon. You could tell a story about how the planes interact to end up with a color-balanced card pool.
It's not a new plane, but I REALLY want another set on Mercadia. I just really love the kind of Final Fantasy VI steampunk aesthetic of the world. Plus it's so unique in that it's one of the only worlds with intelligent goblins. And with how the quality of art has increased so much and the attention to world building within that art has also improved, It'd be nice to see an old world get a refresh.
Segovia is a city in Spain famous for its Roman aqueduct. I guess the original leviathan was a monster of a size to live in an aqueduct, and it all spiraled from there.
I would love to see a segovia set. Maybe something like what happened to Strixhaven where it hits another plane and they combine. Preferably that plane of giants and the end result is just a normal plane
@@AetherHub same with belenon cause its a world where magic and music are intertwined, you see a show dubbed by 4kids was about a card game (no not yugioh) called chaotic and one of the aspects of that game were Mugic Magic crystals that played a melody when offered a mugician, for example theres mugic that cause size change paralysis body enhancment and future sight
I am a huge Dinosaur fan, so I can't help but love the Muraganda cards even if they are a bit boring because of the "Vanilla matters" mechanic... I hope we'll get to visit either it (which would be different from Ixalan because it could take much more inspiration by Jurassic Park rather than the scientifically accurate leaning dinosaurs of Ixalan), or Segovia, which is honestly one of the most original planes out there, if I gotta be honest ❤
I think Wildfire got a mention in a commander card, it has been great seeing planes we've seen little to nothing of, but there are still some that remain only names. I know some of these were mentioned by Tezzeret in ONE as being conquered, but it would be a shame if we never got any info on them, or even what they looked like before they were destroyed. I think showing us destroyed planes from the past would be fun as well, like Rath, Skalla, or Serra's Realm, etc. perhaps as a fun idea for a "core set" or commander pre-cons.
Rampaging Raptor from MOM also seems to be a Muragandan dinosaur. The design definetly does not look like that of a dinosaur from Ixalan, the only other plane with confirmed dinosaur population
To give my thoughts on some of the planes that caught my interest and what features I think sets for them could be. Azgol is certainly a harrowing place for an adventure; but it's hard to imagine why any Planeswalkers would stay there for an extended period since we've yet to see more of it than zombies and malicious volcanism. Though if there is a culture there as implied, that could be built on. Maybe other lands of Azgol also have a hold on it's people; forests, oceans, and swamps that live and demand tribute as the Ashen Idol does, leaving the people to suffer even when payed tribute. Never mind when fury felt when they are not, tribute taken in the form of people made into these spirits servents. You could maybe play with Land creatures here, or other forms of land interaction. That's what I think the planes main gimmick would be. Either Ergamon or Belenon could be a great plane to explore under-utilized creature types belonging to kinds of animals; Apes, Rhinos, Scorpions, and other non-humans or overt humanoids. Which they'd utilize would depend most on if they wanted the animals anthropomorphic or not, which is why I'd lean towards Ergamon. Make the animals sapient a la Lion King and you could get something I think could be quite memorable. Heck, building off using more bestial creatures types; we could get some unique Planeswalkers, like a Planeswalker snake for example. Tolvada's story and gameplay would probably both be centred around the dead not staying dead. Could feature the return of various graveyard mechanics; like Disturb, Encore, Flashback, Unearth, Escape, Retrace, etc. Put them all together in one one set to see how they compare; maybe in different colors to see how each color deals with death/undeath. That would be a fun gimmick. Gobakhan I can't really think of what t say about, but I do think it'd be a great place to reprint Diamond Valley; which is apparently really expensive. And I know you weren't _as_ interested in Vryn because we technically visited it in Jace's origin story, but I think there's a lot of story to explore here and that could have some interesting gameplay. A plane where elite mages siphon magic from across the country for themselves seems a great setting for a story; maybe one about fighting those elite mages and disrupting their hold on all magic. And you could represent this magic siphoning by having the elite mages exert your land cards to reduce your cost; letting you play a cost 6 with 3 lands at the cost of next turn's mana. And meanwhile the people living outside the Core States could make use of other alternate costs since they make do without plentiful mana. Add in Completed Jace who's implied to still be around and you've got a decent set with a decent story to back it.
I’d love to see Segovia, but MaRo has stated the limitations of such a set would prove too limiting in power to make it compelling. Therefore, we can apparently expect nods to the plane but never actually go there.
What really interests me at Vryn is the Flavortext of the backside where "Gav Beleren" is quoted who is he ? (and why are they bringing him now after Jace isn´t probably going nowhere right now)
hey ! would someone care to tell me the name and/or artist of the song used in the intro and conclusion of this video if you know it. it somehow rings a bell but i cannot remember it !
I'd be interested in an Aftermath of the Invasion on Ulgrotha, I can imagine it evolving into a Victorian/Steampunk plane, where the Vampires use scavenged technology to become Robber Barons. Perhaps a few drops of the Glistening Oil survive there?
There could be a set on Muraganda that’s a ripoff of Jurassic Park: The Lost World. Bad guys go to a prehistoric world to capture monsters to take home and weaponize. Good guys trying to stop them. Bad guys manage to pull off their caper leading to monsters in some sort of urban setting.
We know Garruk's origins, we just don't know the name of the plane he comes from. But it was a medieval looking one where using magic to tend to the farm was common.
@@einlan2506 the Storm Scale and Rabiah Scale are for Standard-legal sets only. Modern Horizons, Commander sets, etc, aren't beholden to Maro's scales.
The way they handle the disposal of the Praetors was not satisfactory. Planeswalkers recovering from the compleated process means there is no real consequence. Lost much interest in the lore and I was really looking up to it. Very disappointing.
i love watching your lore videos but please please learn how to pronounce the names of these characters and cards, it drives me crazy everytime you butcher a major character or cards name! smh
I'm so confused with the invasion, surely things like Dinosaurs can't possibly survive. Every time a dinosaur takes out a phyrexian surely it gets completed due to the oil.
