"My country is trully disgusting, everything is just terrible" As a Brazilian, yeah i know, in 88 years and we are still deep in shit, now it is just shit with perfume
Brazil is neat but the only Brazilian I know defends the electric suicide showers with such vigor I can't help but think you guys have lost your minds.
@@daytenanderson3898 they actually work great if u arent crazy to try and hook it up yourself without knowing what yo do, which is what a lot of brazilians do since hired electricians to do so are expensive
“Welcome to the Iron Cage of Paraguay. You’re fucked.” Remembering what I do of Paraguay’s behavior during the War of the Triple Alliance, yeah, that checks out.
So the reason for Paraguay being a literal defensive fortress is every one of their states has river navy which give massive entrenchment bonuses, division defense on core territory plus they have a focus called “cult of personality” which gives another defense on core territory and I believe entrenchment bonus So basically it’s pain to invade
@@lorenzmaut3708 it is, guarani is so relevant to the point that it is officially the 2nd official language of the country and a huge amount of ppl speak that exclusively, also yeah the terrain is pretty fucked, theres a reason we survived the Triple Alliance War and the War for the Chaco cause realistically our army aint the strongest by any means
@@mechahayato4988I think that a complete refusal to give up also helps. You cannot be beaten if you absolutely refuse to accept defeat no matter what.
I love how chaos is erupting all over the world as these two are doing nothing to cause it. These two have done nothing to cause any of the civil wars and wars and the whole world is on fire. This is peak Hoi4 and I love it.
Omg Animarchy!? From the RU-vid!? - Peter Griffin 2024... (Plz kill me lol, this is cringe and outdated meme 😅. Either way big fan Animarchy, when are you doing a part two on the Soviet air force?)
@13:25 *HSwMS Gotland:* "This is the Gotland! There are too many Chinese torpedo boats, we can't possibly fight them all off! We need immediate-!" *???:* "STAND ASIDE!" *Gotland:* "?!?" *Камчатка II:* "I'm coming through! This is Kamchatka II!"
Nukes also wipe out all aircraft in any airbase they hit, so another good usage. They guarantee any tile they're used on will fall though, if you ever get to the late game mass AI deployments they're very useful if not sometimes essential to push initially. But yeah - HOi4 doesn't model the near complete elimination of industry and people strategic use would entail. Also the Atoms for peace program was wild and did do a few actual things. The Soviet one was also.. mixed. I'm pretty sure one on one side of the divide started a natural gas fire that lasted decades.
Didn’t the Soviets use a nuke to plug a natural gas fire or something because they tried literally everything else and was like “we’re out of options, a nuke can’t make this worse right?”
A tip in dealing with the Dutch fortress in Guyana (or whatever that place's name was). What I did when I encountered that problem is send several dozen divisions to sit around it. Build new supply dumps and rail until the units I sent stop starving to death, and send my ships to convoy raid the coast. And then wait for a few months before attacking. Oh and also cas and air. You need those too. In a year or two, you should be able to destroy them. 26:05 The Paraguayans remembered what happened last time.
2:11 I mean, in real life by 1936, Pinochet himself was 21 years old, and he was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Chilean Army at that time too. But yeah, Pinochet is one wild ride to read into, not to mention that he died in 2006 at the age of 91. Only 18 years ago.
20:56 That would honestly make a fascinating Arma op, say 1950s, post nuclear exchange in North Korea/China, and your whole job is just to try and survive and figure out what to do next.
15:44 i misheard rimmy said civilized france instead. when he asked where it was, i was joking in my head about how hard it is to find a part of france that is civilized at all.
Love that you guys managed to roughly recreate the circumstances of the War of the Triple Alliance A war, where Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil all went to war with Uruguay Where so many Paraguayans died that the Pope briefly sanctioned Polygamy to restore their male population (Depending on very varied estimates between 7-70% of their entire population) And where Paraguay lost the conventional war before holding out using unconventional tactics for another year The Iron Cage of Paraguay is a fortress built of so many people And on a completely unrelated note, Paraguay is one of the few countries in south America where an indigenous language (Guaraní) is predominantly spoken (Though most people actually speak Jopara (lit. "Mixture"), which has much more Spanish influence than the "pure form" Guaraní taught in schools)
There was an idea to dig a canal east of the Suez canal using only nuclear warheads. I think Bluejay had the best explanation as to why that was a terrible plan. A bunch of scientists yelling instructions about how to bury and detonate several nuclear weapons over the gunfire and explosions of the local ethnic conflict.
18:17 "It's weird that they're [nukes] better tactically than strategically" - given that 1940s nukes were less than 50kT, that actually makes sense. Also, the plans for the projected invasion of Japan called for the tactical use of nukes... and sending troops into the freshly-nuked areas less than 24 hours later. 27:38 Someone had a real liking for Classical Greek names of cities?
As I understand it, the idea of using nukes to soften Japan’s beachheads was just a proposal made by a few generals who didn’t quite understand that nukes weren’t just really big bombs, it was never in the official plans, nor would the US have had the time to construct enough nukes to achieve such a feat. The ones they dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the only two they had at the time, and producing more would have taken awhile.
@@1ManRandom What I've read about Operation Olympic has suggested that nukes could be used to reduce particularly stubborn centres of resistance - as opposed to glassing the landing beaches - if they were available in time. There probably would have been at least two or three available by the proposed launch date of November 1945, too.
@@AdamantLightLP No, the initial rate of production was one per _month_ so there would have been three available by the time of the initial landings on Kyushu
Honestly my favorite fact about the Davy Crocket is the fact it was removed from service not because it's minimal safe range where the nuke wouldn't kill you was the max range of the actual launch system, but because they didn't want nukes in the hands of a bored sergeant.
Solano Lopez seeing the Special Military Operation to defeat His country again and just chuckling on the repeat of old History. Good lord as a Brazillian seeing that gave me flashbacks from my ancestors.
REJOICE, RIMMY HATH RETURNED TO HOI4. Bro, the hit of sheer happiness seeing this pop up on my youtube, knowing that i can relive the nostalgia of discovering your channel because of hoi4.
I was 16 in 2017… I actually like the idea of elite, fully protected, fully mobile army divisions with what would become France’s current *regimental* division structure (for tradition reasons). Add to that subterranean complex networks like a Fallout game. The single alternative we (the U.S.) adopted is a pick-me dedication to waves of infantry *or* tanks with endless supply trains, to be used at a commander’s discretion-because we’ve been so powerful that no one has considered the real possibility of dispersed, isolated units facing a peer force or insurgents being so stubborn that lazy, lumbering, random, green units do not work on them.
the davy crocket was a fucking nuclear bomb shot out of a recoiless rifle, that literally would kill whatever it fired at and whoever fired it so basically to whomever it may concern and return to sender all at once
24:43 I mean, the Czechs are best known about being partitioned without a war and they got a focus tree. And right now Poland has the most extensive focus tree, while they were capitulated in a month by two superpowers. The danes surrendered within a day and they also got a focus tree. And now you got irrelevant south american minors, like Uruguay and Paraguay getting focus trees. Belgium at least is a sizeable industrial and military power compared to these and should received it's own update in La Résistance, but they didn't. Why? Because that would mean hiring another focus tree designer for it (not developer, focus tree designers don't program, they design) to look up a few wikipedia articles and shit something together in a month before release.
Hoi4 is always a welcome return, though I'll probably never go back. You very nearly got me this time, but I am not going back. That playtime is staying where it is!
When is the hit piece on Starship Troopers Extermination dropping? That game's terrible development deserves the kind of roasting only Rimmy can provide.
For some reason Rimmy always meshes well with Vtubers. His interactions with them are always awesome. Im convinced the Rimmy we see is just a super ultra HD vtuber model
25:30 honestly that’s just how the Paraguay war/war of the triple alliance went, it was thought that is was gonna be a short and easy war but as you said A LOT OF BRAZILIANS DIED (But don’t worry we scored with the Paraguayans after by murdering 2/3 of their population)
Fun fact about my country argentina the patagonian region during the 19th century and part of 20th century was called the welsh coloni because 80% of the population was welsh and irish but for some reason now days they dont like been call welsh or irish because all the things UK did to argentina
It was nice getting a dose of nostalgia watching this video. But fuck I didn’t realize me and you were the same age Rimmy. Crazy how I was one of the 100k people watching your peaceful Germany video in my German class funnily enough.
Love your vids Rimmy, If you're willing to make more Hoi4 content, might I recommend the Equestria At War mod again? Since the last time you played it, it has become astronomically bigger and better, with three continents instead of just one and many, many nation with unique and fleshed out focus trees, secret paths, and it is a great time.
I started rewatching some of your old HOI4 videos, so they’ve been showing up in my recommended videos. I had to do a double take on the date for this one.
So what got from this play through is to basically play Paraguay and just hold to where it’s basically a meat grinder for anyone but me. I take that to note
I know I'm late but the reason the south of Argentina is welsh is that in 1865 a bunch of Welsh colonists settled that part of argentina. the name translates to "The Welsh Settlement", and it's one of the only places outside of Wales that speaks Welsh.
man its been awhile since rimmy has made a HOI4 vid. watching your Hoi4 vids years ago is what ended up making me get Hoi4 in the first place. I've put 1500 hours into it, its hands down one of, if not my favorite, games ever. Just a shame I suck so much with the navy I cannot japan at all.
Brazil and Portugal did unify once in the 1800s when Napoleon took over Portugal and its monarchs went to Brazil and made it a proper united kingdom instead of a colony. And then they didn't want to leave becuase Brazil was way nicer.
