The guy who constructed the bomb didn't get a life sentence even though he was caught and the evidence pointed to him? That's horrific. The fact that this man is now walking free horrifies me. He murdered over 300 people yet he's allowed to walk free! That is so messed up!
@@raulcharasi7424 Agreed. Being a Sikh myself, it's so shameful to see these extremist groups protesting to demand in a second country the separation of the third country. F these mfs
I'm Canadian and I want to apologize for our government going easy on the perps and choosing to not take any responsibility for this disaster. Justice should have been served and my heart goes to the families of those who were affected❤
Thank you sir. But the irony is, the canadian government has still not changed its ways. To appease a particular vote bank, they turn a blind eye to all the nefarious, Anti India, Anti Hindu activities by the khalistani terrorists. Its like Canada has become a base for Khalistani terrorists plotting against India.
Unfortunately, the still Canadian government is supporting and sheltering these terrorists. They are still attacking the Indian Counsallates in Canada but Trudeau dares to call it a freedom of expression.
Oh when she said “the little man wanted to take a look at the cockpit” that really made me sad. This was just so horrible, rest in peace to all who died on this horrible day.
As an Indian the Kanishka tragedy is really painful for me, even though I was born long after it. Thank you for taking it very seriously and perfectly capturing the tragedy for all.
Mary, mother of goodness, that is a long list. Especially devastating that so many families were wiped out. If I'm correct, not only was this the worst terrorist attack in aviation history prior to the 11th of September 2001 attacks, but this was the third worst air disaster in history at the time, behind the Tenerife North Airport disaster and Turkish Airlines Flight 981. Of course though, Air India Flight 182 would be surpassed by Japan Airlines Flight 123 only seven weeks later.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to list all the names and ages of those murdered. It brings home the depth of this tradegy and the senseless loss of life. What did this act accomplish except anguish, loss, anger and injustice.
I hate when acts of murder are called “incidents” or “accidents”. Also: I feel bad for the gate agent that was intimidated into allowing one of the murders onto the plane. She has to live with all those lives lost.
@@squ34ky I don't think that would ever be allowed now. Not sure why that wasn't deemed suspicious then. But, the Swiss Cheese model of sequential screwups played out and allowed the bomb on to the plane.
Isn't "incident" fits instead of "accident"? Because afaik, The former is for intentional event (murder included), while the latter is for unintentional event
Green dot, disaster breakdown, and mini air crash investigations all provide incredible quality content, they all have different styles as to how they approach the incidents too which is great
Canada really failed the Air India victims, especially with the acquittal of Bagri and Malik. The judge in their case, when delivering his ruling, basically called out the Canadian government for botching their case so bad that he had to acquit them on lack of evidence. I'm not sure if Air India 182 could be considered Canada's 9/11. I don't think it had the same cultural impact, and while every American knows about 9/11, I don't think the same can be said for Canadians and Air India 182. It wasn't an attack on Canada per say, like 9/11 was. The better comparison is Lockerbie, but on a bigger scale.
Imagine if this was a plane full of white Americans and the perpetrator was a terrorist organization based out of Afghanistan. What would the Americans expect out of Afghanistan? I would imagine they'd want the complete capture and extradition of ALL members of that terrorist organization. Or else the Americans would threaten to invade Afghanistan. But when it is Indians and Canadian-Indians dying in a similar attack by a terrorist organization based out of Canada, did Canada capture and extradite ALL members of that terrorist organization? LOL no. They just went and gave them political space in their own country. And they continue to do this to this day. Insomuch that now these terrorists are running for elections in Canada. Yeah, the West excels at selective outrage. And then they want to talk to India about "Ukraine". No offence to you as a person though. Just sharing the thoughts of the average Indian when it comes to Canada.
I remember watching these folks get on the plane in Toronto that day. My family and I were going to Scotland on an Air Canada flight. We were so sad to hear what happened to them all after we landed.
This incident was truly heart breaking to learn about when I first saw it on an episode of Mayday. So many things went wrong at the worst possible times to make this happen, and I hope the world learned some lessons from it, even if it wouldn't prevent other tragedies.
@@ditzygypsyt is true, it's Gurratan Singh, he is the brother of Jagmeet Singh, the leader of Canada's federal NDP party. Gurratan is a khalistani and calls the deadly riot in 1984 a "genocide" which is was not. He leaves out the fact that it was in response to Indira Gandhi's two Sikh bodyguards assassinating her. Those two guys never lived to see the outcome but they knew Sikhs would be endangered and didn't care because in their minds they were saints and martyrs...but they caused the deaths of tons of Sikhs. It's their fault they lit the match, Congress saw the job they started and finished it. Many years later KPS Gill managed to crush the khalistani insurgency which also involved khalistanis murdering tons of Sikhs, and Gill was a Jat Sikh, a high caste. Gill was called the Lion of Punjab for good reason.
@@stevenseagull7.7bviews47 What fuddu logic is this? Yes it was a genocide of Sikhs and no the 2 bodyguards did not cause it, the congress and stupid supporters did it. Would you blame the muslim rioters who set the Godhra train ablaze or the BJP leaders who attacked the babri masjid, knowing it would cause issues? Start calling things as they are. The Khalistani terrorists need to be singled out and eliminated, but dod just label anyone and everyone as Khalistani and go around killing them
Holy cow! The production quality is crazy for this-and it really surprised me to hear Green Dot at the beginning! Another great video. You’re always so respectful with these unfortunate events.
I rarely comment on any video, but I have to say that the extra time you have been able to put into this video is evident from the start. ( as of writing this, i am 2 minutes in!) Your dedication to high quality, well researched and respectful videos have always wowed me. - A long time lurker. Please keep it up!
Thank you for this video. I was a kid when I heard about this air crash. One of the flight attendants was a family friend. I could never find any information that is so detailed.

Sadly, I remember this event very well. I helped retrieve some debris, overhead cabin doors and trim from this B747 washed up on a beach in West Wales. It was collected by Welsh Police. Thanks for the video!
This is an accident I’ve always been intrigued by, but there was never enough information. Turns out, it was much worse than I expected. Thank you for covering this topic. The 4 more days of waiting were definitely worth it. Also, you should try branching out into some different types of disasters, like maritime disasters, considering you’ve already done some rail disasters.
You've never heard of this because it goes against Western narratives. Bet you've heard about Indian "atrocities in Kashmir"? That is because it fits in with Western agenda. But you would have never heard of "Kashmiri Pandit Genocide", right? That one goes against Western narrative on India. West has a total stranglehold on information dispensing mechanisms in this world and they wield it like a weapon. There is a reason you know of India's "Caste System" but not of its "Reservation System". And the list goes on and on.
This is possibly one of your greatest videos, Chloe! Congratulations! ❤ And thank you for your collaboration with Emmett, you both rock🎉 PS. I feel so sorry for Jeannie Adams.. What this poor woman must have felt afterwards even though she wasn't the one responsible for b0mbing is quite beyond me.. :( RIP to all on board
Damn, what're the odds that Jeannie was the one who happened to check in both of the bombs...? Of course she couldn't have known, but man, I can only imagine the guilt she's had to overcome. Rest in Peace to the victims.
Chloe, thank you for consistently giving us these professional-quality videos, which are so thoroughly researched, explained, and narrated. Also, I must compliment your titles for these videos - they are attention-grabbing while not being clickbait or pandering to the lowest common denominator. You deserve many more subs, and I hope you get them soon!
Beautiful video as usual..there is a crucial painful fact.Shannon controller was talking to the pilot wen it went missing mid sentence..can’t imagine how he felt..and the ticket agent at the gate where she was bullied into sending the baggage without..😢😞 passenger checking in
The biggest terrorist incident before 9/11 and there has ben no serious conviction or justice. Most were immigrant Canadian citizens of Indian heritage. I wonder if the Canadian government would act so clumsily and with such indifference if all had been white.
Forgot about the new upload schedule already lol, pleasant surprise for a Wednesday! Glad you're able to make these longer and more in depth videos Chloe
Since I saw the Air Crash Investigation episode about this crash 3 years ago, I have visited Toronto myself. Toronto is a very multicultural city and we happened to be visiting Toronto just as the Indian community was holding an annual festival, which we were fortunate enough to attend. It was a great experience. It's a very tenuous connection to the passengers of that fatal journey, I realize, but still, that interaction does a lot to prevent the passengers from being just another statistic on a Wikipedia list, and revealing them to be humans, like the people I saw joining the parade and the other festivities. So that visit did make this video a lot more emotional for me than that AIC episode. Fantastic video, for the record, brilliantly done, discovered your channel very recently.
Hey Chloe, been following your channel for a while now. Love these videos. Congrats on taking them to a whole new level like Mentour. Well done and all the best from Berlin.
This is gold for everyone out there! Congrats for this episode. RIP for all the victims, and what a Shame for Canada. The mess with their politica began before we could imagine, back at this incident and early!
you know, I've heard bits and pieces of this disaster but never put together like this. thank you for making it all make sense. I really appreciate the effort you make to put these videos together - you said we worked hard to put it together - so I appreciate all or both of you. sidenote: the ATC guy in Shannon sounded very American don't you think? Ah, I just saw that green dot was on here. that makes sense. you sure have quality friends.
@@diyac9554 Why do you give credence to these unqualified second class quacks? We really do not need their stupid validation, what we wish is peace to the victims and appropriate punishment for the sinners. Ignore the gaslighting part since it just serves their purpose to make themselves feel better by doing 'whataboutism'
Definitely worth the wait, and DEFINITELY some of your best work, Chloe! There's always some angst when one invests a hope and a prayer on someone else's ambition, BUT you've only taken that and built something greater for it. Some channels might just be best suited for lighter brushing over, and some stories are just best brushed over... either for such intricate and elaborate intertwinings of narrative and political or pseudo-religious controversy... or perhaps they've just been so scattered and mishandled for so long by so many that they are simply lost to time and confusion. You've risen above all suggestions of the like. Where even the crossing of political blame and finger pointing, denials, credibility of accounts, and a nearly neverending list of flaws with evidence, jurisdictional arguments and even the dubious debates of justice versus revenge, you've taken the time to scrutinize and organize everything from a vaguely described clusterf*ck of terror plots, bombs either being ahead of time, utterly random, miscalculated or poorly handled, and law enforcement and security people stubbornly too slow to act. You've done an incredible job to cut right through narratives and obfuscating BS to draw out the core of what is KNOWN for facts, and then you've laid them out for us in a precise and careful manner so that we can understand every aspect as best it is known and documented. Any doubts that continuing to follow you with faith in your ability to bring light to these subjects have utterly been wiped away. I, for one, can hardly wait for your updates, let alone your next video... no matter what you choose to show us all next. ;o)
Wow. This might be the best, most thorough video I've watched on this disaster, ever. Totally worth the wait! ETA: ah, I thought that other voice sounded familiar! Great cameo by Green Dot.
0:29 I had no idea there was another bomb involved in this awful attack. Great video and loved the Green Dot was included. I have watched theACI episode on this bombing and one other I have to say your video matches if not betters the quality of information and presentation. Truly. 10 out of 10. Such an awful incident and that most of them got away lightly or totally.
The Babbar Khalsa sikh separatist group was implicated in the bombings. Although a handful of people were arrested and tried for the Air India bombing, the only person convicted was Inderjit Singh Reyat, a dual British-Canadian national, who pleaded guilty in 2003 to manslaughter.
I could watch a video on Lockerbie with interest and enthusiasm! Any video you make is class. I’ve watched the Mayday production, which was good. I’ve actually watched their documentary on Air India too, but I was still riveted by yours. I’ve never known 41 minutes pass so quickly. I definitely like the longer videos.
The man narrating this video speaks with the air and tranquility of a person in a suit and tie applying for a loan. A very well presented and articulate video!!!! Great job Disaster Breakdown!
How does the customer service representative not have some responsibility for what happened ?? She broke protocol by allowing the bag to be check straight through despite not having a confirmed ticket for the second half of his trip.
First of all, he didn’t live in Vancouver. He lived in Surrey. Pretty much, Surrey is primarily Indian. Fun fact! YVR, or Vancouver Airport, is not in Vancouver. It’s in Richmond. Until you’re over the Arthur Lang bridge, you’re in Richmond. My hometown :)
@@ALuimes yeah, I know that, but Metro Vancouver doesn’t mean Vancouver. Just like North Vancouver doesn’t mean Vancouver. It’s not Vancouver. When in the world has anyone ever considered Surrey to be Vancouver? It’s absolutely asinine!
@@SiobhanNkodithePom Metro Toronto didn't mean Toronto either. North York was like Surrey, but it was commonly seen as being part of Toronto. "Not Toronto" meant (and still means) more distant suburbs like Mississauga outside "Metro" in Peel Region, akin to Abbotsford in FVRD. It's the same for Montreal as for the former Metro Toronto, where "Montreal" is on-island even if not part of the city proper, and "not Montreal" is off-island".
Thank you for making this video. Brought back the saddest memories of a great tragedy and the tardiness of Canadian investigation agencies and the fractured judicial system and corrupt politicians.
Came across the Air India memorial garden while on holiday in Cork in 2000. Didn't know about the extra engine. Only seen that once. Another well made video.
Chloe could you answer a question that has bugged me for all my time watching your content, and that is where are you from because I can't place your accent? 🤔 update, I've learnt you are from the UK, I'm from the UK too but I can't place you're accent😢.
Do you know Green Dot Aviation???? I'm following this guy and he didn't post a video about this one although in the description you said he contributed to this recreation of the crash
Some kids from the elementary school I attended to died on this flight. Such a tragedy and a complete screw up of the Canadian justice system. RIP to the victims.
