Operation Deep Freeze has finally been released after a week long delay, and with it comes the addition of a new defender operator named Tubarao. But a very controversial change also came with this season - the removal of T-Hunt. Are the new A.I. Training Modes a good substitute for it? Let's find out.

Jason ‘Beaulo’ Doty joined TSM in June 2019 as a part of the organization’s first Rainbow Six Siege team. He is the team’s flex player, playing a wide variety of operators to fit whatever is needed for the map. Over the past few years, Beaulo became well known by many as a content creator, featuring his precise aim and overaggressive play on stream and RU-vid while he could not officially compete due to age restrictions. His entry into the pro scene has come with a fair amount of hype, with many of his fans hoping to see him succeed in the Rainbow Six League.

@@Bat0541shooting range is no where near as good as t hunt for warming up. Shooting at actual characters that move in the environment, take cover and shoot back is far more useful seeing as that's what you're going up against in real matches. Also this new mode looks terrible. Only having a few operators to choose from is ridiculous

⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠@@Bat0541Nah thunt was objectively just better. The white masked bots were spread around the map making it far easier to learn the map and game’s mechanics at the same time. I genuinely don’t understand why they would remove a fundamental part of the game just to transform it into a barebones tutorial that people already had. It is far more effective to shoot a bot that thinks for itself like thunt rather than the new AI which follows a very strict pathfinding ability. And the firing range is just segmented scenarios it doesn’t really help.

I'm actually kind of surprised by how reactive the AI seems. Compared to the original t-hunt guys they seem relatively organic. They're just "dumb" enough you can tell they're AI, but for a literal robot I'm impressed. A friend of mine was impact ran out on from the Garage wall and almost got fried. There's a huge percentage of players that wouldn't even attempt that play. I'm not a programmer but I can see a lot of potential 5-10 years from now.

It is kind of interesting but I'd prefer if they put in like 20 goons with this AI so I can head click rather than replicate a 5v1/5 match. Guessing the semi-good news here is that, if they develop them, they might use them as an AI replacement for when a teammate leaves or loses connection.

If they're removing t-hunt, they should at least make a "pro" version of the new target drill mode: No annoying walk-through box top left that takes up half the screen, dummies keep spawning when you leave and come back to a room (but they constantly spawn in new locations). It should also keep going forever with no timer, or alternatively with a 60 min timer. Pick any operator you want, not this limited shit. If they did this, most of us including beaulo would be OK with the removal of old t-hunt.

That's where I am at with the target mode, I actually like the idea of pre placed dummies over the dumbass T-hunt bots, but if they really want to get the benefit out of it, they should have a mode like that, and use player data to place the bots in actual places players play, or hell, you could even add an option to let players set them up, and they should have the option to be aggressively accurate and quick with their shots, so that if they are set up on an angle the player has to be ready to take the gun fight. There is potential with the new system to be both a good warm up system, and really it would make it an even better learning aid for new players.

@@Bat0541 yeah I got excited for the mode . Shooting range got their improvements over time. I expect the same here but I hate these beginning phases of a new system that takes forever to get info of a new update. For real all I want is for me to set up the bots by taking control of them one by one and setting them up. Maybe even replicate certain actions once you reach a certain spot. If that's to much at least let us place them in every room and make them lean . Practicing pixel peaks would be cool. Let us clear the map out and automatically the bots will reset so there's no go back to the menu and select map training cycle that I'm already dreading

LOVE the AI idea. Totally understand that it's in beta. Still don't understand why T-Hunt had to be removed before it was finished. Game size can be a concern, yeah, but reducing the amount of full content in a game is simply a mistake.

@@alexv5581 I have no nostalgia for T-Hunt. Used it like 6 times in all 8 years. Versus AI is extremely fundamental right now. I don’t like how you can only pick amongst 5 ops. I never said one was better than the other, just that versus AI isn’t anywhere near a finished product yet, and taking away content for an unfinished product isn’t good game development practice.

I miss t hunt. One of the reasons is the conversation between characters. Like Dokkaebi and any attacker or Ela and any defender (only if you are playing with a friend) The lore of their conversations man. It's really interesting to me.

I feel like fighting bright yellow crash test dummies is terrible for a warm up because they're highly visible even in the darkest environments, whereas the actual players are going to be much harder to spot.

I enjoyed T hunt because it was a way for me to chill while keeping my aim quickness and accuracy in check…now I can’t even practice with my favorite defense operators or any of my attack operators…and it’s the same damn map!

Removing TH for this bare bones mode is terrible. If it was fully fledged out, all operators (even just for the player), customising team size (5v5, 1v1, etc.) it would be a much better replacement. But limited operators and no way to tailor it to use it for actual practice or warmup is a poor excuse for a 'new' mode.

I’m currently in the process of selling my disc game. After 9 years of fun, entertaining gameplay with friends, and I also got to play this with my dad, I am now calling this a goodbye. Also the first time I’ve actually cried over a beloved game mode being taken away from us. Have some match videos on my other account and made me burst. No longer a Ubisoft customer after this. To hell with them.

I feel like siege should take a steam workshop approach. Example in csgo or something like aimlabs there are custom maps based off of a ingame map and there is a course that you run through shooting bots placed at common angles. With thunt gone I'd love to see something like that.

Shooting range improves me more than thunt because the new training range had options to train your flicks and tracking. You can make the bots to walk, run and sprint for tracking and at the same time you will spend more time shooting bots than thunt

I don't play multiplayer games, all me and my mates ever played in siege was T-Hunt, but piece by piece they removed a mode that was in every Rainbow game since the first, at least I can still play the Vegas games with friends, or Extraction, not that they are doing anything with extraction, they haven't any new content in over a year.

My whole issue is that you are shooting metal dummies vs fleshy humans. The sound feels wrong when you shoot them. Just make an option where the bots can be switched to operators if u want.

just found out myself..... just payed around 50 for the ultimate edition ..... booted it up after a long nights download / and realized it was removed ...found out some years back theres no fire selector because they removed that too... well there goes my last chance for an fps tactical experiencefrom a classic franchise . being guess im goin back to insurgency sandstorm :/ gonna just wait for grayzone warfare to drop now.... i got no hope for these companies anymore man. its either online only or what u get offline is ayusscake juicy-ness on a hot scorching summer sunday

Yeah, ai versus to me feels like getting more in the seige vibe having to be wary of gadgets, actually wondering if someone is around a corner or holding an angle, I died like 3 times because some guy was hiding in a corner and I didn't look out for it. I think it's not a tutorial but more of a way to get into the vibe of siege, well that's what I think anyway.

I've learned if they know your there their going to wait till you peek out more before shooting you and if you shoot first and miss they will one hit you which sucks😂
