There is no actual party in Poltava, as it's actually a small city with a big village reputation. But Engin and I decided to go for a guys weekend anyways to check it out since it was on the way back to Kiev for me, and less than a 2 hour train ride from Kharkiv.

Has anyone been to or heard of Poltava before this? What's a random small city that you've been to that you ended up loving?

For many Swedes this is a well-known city due to The Battle of Poltava. The Battle of Poltava was a field battle fought at the city of Poltava on June 28, 1709. It was the largest and most decisive battle during the Great Nordic War and was between a Swedish army under the command of Field Marshal Carl Gustaf Rehnskiöld and a Russian army under command by Tsar Peter I. The loss to Russia meant that this was the beginning of the fall of the Swedish Empire.

Johnny turning into Bald and Bankrupt : - ) btw Bald has an interesting video how he learned russian, he didn't waste time learning grammar and he is right, russian grammar is incredibly difficult
@JohnnyFD
@JohnnyFD 3 года назад
haha thanks Eugene, I'll take that as a compliment. As for Russian, I'm going the same path and just ignoring the grammar as well, it's too complicated and unnecessary for basic communication.

❤️❤️ sorry Johnny but I can't stop watching it and I always go back to it. This was your adventure before the war that inspired me to want to travel the world and visit Ukraine first. Unbelievable what these Russian genocides have done to this poor country so full of once happy people full of life. Don't stop fighting for them Johnny and I'll trying to help anytime I can. 🙏🙏

All three Ukraine towns are good, mostly clean, similar to several Euro city architectures too, but less hectic, etc. This Poltava remains me bit like Cda's capital Ottawa, where they have not just similar name but similar med long pedestrian only cobblestone street too, with restaurants, bars etc but surrounded by bit busier down town streets though, also Montreal has 2-3 similar busy pedestrian streets too, then France have Nice & Paris, then what about LA, SF, Carmel, etc in Ur State, have em too, don't they, When's Odessa (Odessa File, popularJohn Vought's Movie !!) trip's happening! lol
@JohnnyFD
@JohnnyFD 3 года назад
I haven't been to Ottawa, but I love cities with pedestrian only cobblestone streets. We don't have many in California, but a few places are pedestrian friendly at least, like 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica or Pacific Beach, San Diego.
@nnes759
@nnes759 3 года назад
Haven't been to South Calf since 90s, but Santa monica poped up 1st to me too , also Pasadena for some reason?, definitely San Diego then across the border Tijuana's popular pubs & clubs stretch, also movies famous venice beach-front flat street stretch w outdoor gym, rollerskaters etc, SF perhaps within Chinatown (from Ottawa Montreal is only ~100 mts drive, it definitely has 3 streets there), perhaps few more in East cost US&Cda cities too as to my memory.

I lived in Motel, and Almaznuy districts of Poltava. There are lots of gopnics, but nothing you should scared or worried about. We has a lot of sport sections like box, judo, karate and others. Also it's cheep town with poor people. So if you mix poorness, sporty guys, add some alchohol, or drugs - you'll got average gopnic. But mostly it's quite place with few drunk fights at night. But anyway there are nothing to see or do there. There is big old soviet diamond factory (that is why discrict called Almaznuy (Алмазний) - bcs алмаз is diamond) - but I'm sure that you can come to see it, from inside I mean. Sveral parks, bazaar, shops, and lots of houses. Same as any other Poltava district.

Wow! I actually discovered you thankfully to Bald and now accidentally realized you visited my hometown. Haha. I suggested Bald to visit it but maybe he missed my comment or didn't really wanna go. So in past I had a gloomy image of my city but with time it got better tbh. I can't say I'm happy enough there, needs to travel somewhere and recharge. But, I guess, it's not exactly bout the city. BTW, it's not small, actually, it's average. There's other province's capitals that are even smaller. But the type of Ukrainian cities is officially is counted not by size, but by population, so if it's more than 100 000 people, then it's average. And Poltava has about 300 000. Lol. But I agree with that girl in downtown that it's a big village! 😂👍💯

Ty, it's not yet available widely in Ukraine. I'll let the high risk population have first access. But i'll take the shot once it's available to me. I'm not an anti-vaxxer.
