As I come to the close of building my 1st large piece of furniture. I have realized that the smalls are really what drive my business. By smalls I mean charcuterie boards cutting boards and my bowls are what really drive my business. I will continue to grow my furniture work work, but you are right the boring is what wins out.

Derived from the Pareto principle: When you get to the point where 20% of your effort produces 80% of results, you’re (mentally) free to start tackling other (bigger) problems. The repetition is just a testament to the months and years of blood, sweat, tears, and solving problems to get to this point. Keep up the great work!

I used to jump out of the planes the air force flew me around in in the middle of the night… good times my friends good times. Stay airborne. And keep doing what you’re doing the people that are serious about being an entrepreneur will love seeing every step especially the ones that are natural leaders and risk takers screw what people have to say unless it’s solid advice the comments section is full of insecure people that a delusional level of fake confidence in subjects they don’t actually understand. News flash viewers… if you run a business right it WILL be repetitive if it’s repetitive and there’s not much more you can change things that means you’re doing something right. You have to have a system otherwise you’re just wasting time running in circles. As a leader and business owner raised by two multi millionaire entrepreneurs I think you two are on a FAR BETTER start than 90 percent of people. Keep learning keep growing and screw other people’s opinions.

I'm just curious, Why was Davis using the band saw to cut all those pieces?....It seems to me that your table saw be a better choice for that task. I'm not an expert and I'm not trying to be critical....I'm really just wondering if there is something I don't know. Obviously, there is more than one way to skin a cat (and maybe he was just looking to do something differently than before since that is kind of the theme of the video)...but the band saw just seems way less efficient at that particular task.

Have you two ever looked into a machine something like this one? MP360 4-Sided Planer Moulder (Woodmizer). Would help you speed up you production time. There are quite a few companies out there that sell them. It may be a little to pricey for where your business is right now but something to check into.

You have a clear strategy that you can articulate concisely, a strong operational procedure model, and you know where your money is made. If people think your content is boring that's a testament that your strategy and operating model are stable; goals and tasks will change frequently, strategy and operating model will change slowly. What a pity that large corporations (like where I work) cannot get these basics straight. Keep up the good work.

To many companies reward firefighting as a great job done. This increases people's belief system that fighting to correct errors is positive. The reality is boring & not rushing from one issue to another is actually good. Keeping the team motivated within this is the key. That needs good management skills.

I'm not sure if they said your videos are boring or your business is boring. The title says one, but Angie said the other. If it was the videos, that might simply mean they feel you show and speak about similar things each time. If that's the case maybe throw in something about how you select and purchase your wood, how it gets delivered/picked up with associated tips and tricks for that process. It depends on whether you want to be a business advice channel or a woodworking channel or both as to the content. If the comment referred to the business as boring, I think the other comments cover that well. Production refers to a process, processes are routine, routine is repetitive by design. With regard to the sales calls, what does caller ID show your call as? That definitely influences me on whether I pick up or not. When calling mostly realtors a person's name might be more productive than a company name.

I honestly don't know how so many people are making any money as this market is grossly oversaturated. You guys built a solid customer base at a good time and have had success! My hats off to you!

Where there"s room to be creative, it's never boring. There are definitely boring, unimaginative people. 👍 Hey businesses are usually repeating a successful concept over and over (improving it too). That's how they stay in business. Don't listen to dummies I'd rather buy that cutting board from someone who has made that product hundreds of times with his/her own hands. That's called craftsmanship. Not a lot of that these days with everything mass produced.

@Jennie and Davis I was on board until you got to the "We HATE repetition" segment. I don't believe that at all. If that were true you would not offer items that REQUIRE repetitiveness. You do though cause the money is so good. There for you may not like it all that much, but since you are still doing it so long after starting you certainly don't HATE it.

Another great video that made complete sense!! Thanks! On board finishing, what do you recommend? I noticed that you guys sometimes seem to do just a mineral oil bath and sometimes the mineral oil/ bees wax blend, what determines this? I ask because I have my first big order(for me anyway 😄) of 30 boards and I was using Odies Oil but found that it is a lot of time and kind of tedious. More hands on time than I think I should have. Any suggestions? Thanks!

What you do is boring BUT you are growing a business and NOT producing art or one of a kind items. Many of us, in the wood working community would go crazy doing what you do. Each day producing the same size, shape and color cutting boards. My boards are one of kind, hand made, each piece unique but I'm not growing a business. You do more in a month than I may make in three but that's ok. Keep going and at some point your business may become large enough that you will have the time to explore other options. Good luck.

After being both hobbysits and business owners, we'll say this: If you want to build mostly what YOU want to build, that's not a business - it's your hobby. Maybe it'll pay for itself from time-to-time, but if your customer isn't the person you're trying to please for a profit, don't call it a business!

Been watching your guys channel for a while now. I really connect with this video. Tough I have avoided my channel getting the "repetitive" name sake. I actually just keep my real income driver off of the internet because I don't want 10 employees and a tax bill to match. Which is what would happen if I let out my cabinet making ability to the general populous. I'm good at, maybe even great at building cabinets but it is not what I love to do. I love being creative, and taking on new and different things. tying myself to just tables and cutting boards, well I couldn't do it. But I respect and commend you guys for having made that niche for yourselves. Never let the nay Sayers get you down.

Yes…repetitive task can become boring…day in day out…but the cash flow keeps it interesting…keep up the good work…😎

I see lots of videos and RU-vid entrepreneur's seem to include more and more of the "semi vlog" thing. Take us to the vet for a checkup for your dog, take us to the lumber yard. Any short clip away from the business can add something. Were all here for the business and how things grow. As a person with ADHD, I have no clue why people like to say it, and they say it way out of context. Repetition is not ADHD - in fact, it's quite the opposite, totally disarray, every damn day. You did not 'offend' me, but I will venture to say that there are people with ADHD who might be. I embrace my ADHD - others who suffer from it, abhor it. Anyway, just a little bit of help for you. ;-) By the way, you should break the repetitious videos and do some off-shoots like showing how you handled a mistake that you did not discover until you were more than 1/2 way through a big batch. Explain what went wrong and how to corrected it, or didn't and just rolled with it. Lastly, thanks for willingly flying into hurricanes. I used to fly on the might P-3C Orion, but not one of the ones for hurricanes - just a good ole subhunter.
