I am from England. I was born and grew up in London so never had space for any animals as a kid. I saved and moved to the countryside and started watching you. I now have 4 ducks, 10 chickens, 2 dogs and am debating getting a small beehive due to me starting watching you. As someone who grew up in the city I was very unprepared and learnt a lot from your channel.
Happy Birthday to your son! I hope he had a great day! Your kids are learning great life lessons on your farm. Your bee hives look great! GOD Bless your family.
I just love 🐝 bee videos. Pretty awesome way they send bees. Useful container to keep around. The boys did a wonderful job painting the hives. Love the colors. How long till you can safely harvest? Can't wait for the honey haul video! Wish we wasn't in town I'd really like to have 🐝🐝🐝 to
I'm soooo glad you did this, this way. I've watched you in the past have soooo many issues. So many dead Queens. So many times you've been stung and hurt. I pray this year will be much easier and more productive. 🙏 G-D Bless
I really love your videos they are so Wholesome the animals and the farm is just amazing and I really hope you and your wonderful family have a bright future ahead.
@@whitehouseonthehill the only reason why you lose bee hives is the fact you have no knowledge about beekeeping, you are doing everything wrong starting from hives if you have dead hive remove all comb and put new wax and then instal bees, second don't use plastic foundations because i see in videos that they make half frame wax and on the corners nothing, next thing don't paint inside hive, don't buy bee queens which have paint all over their body because there is big chanse she will die, don't open very bees often, don't add second box if there is no at least 5 frames of brood and by that i mean more than half of frame,do treatment for varroa mite, bees can die even if they have honey in hive because if it is cold they can't move towards honey and they eventually die to help them put brood in centre and around honey frames, and during winter add sugar patty it will be like bridge for them to honey frames and it will keep bee cluster thight,in october add paper or any material that keep warmth, expand brood by adding empty frame to brood frame in the end of march and im may you can put frame in centre of brood the reason you do this is that in spring qeens lay a lot of eggs and you make space for her to lay more brood you repeat this as soon as queen lay entire frame,in may you will have strong hives and lot of swarms, i recommend you to use lr hive because it's the best hive for beekeeping, make swarms as soon as you have queen cells take 2 frames of brood and queen and 1 frame of honey and put that in new box,in the hive you take that from leave queen cells and they will make new queen very fast ,in august give them sugar water in ratio 1:1 ,this will stimulate queen to lay more winter bees and with a lot of bees they will easier survive, give them 1 liter every 2 days for 2 weeks, another mistake is bees can't always make their own queen it depends from season it takes 1 month for queen to start laying and sometimes it is to long because hive gets weaker,if you don't apply this advices and if you don't find good beekeper to teach you,you will always lose hives and they will always die, don't understand this as hate thought i tell you this to improve your skills about bees and to stop buying every year swarms but you will be able to sell them greetings from Europe
I know that the kids really love how you two let them help. Instead of thinking that they won't do a good enough job or they'll take too long, you let them at it. It's got to be a blast for them! Happy Birthday Uriah! 🎈 🎂
Oh my goodness, it only took TWO weeks to get your hives FILLED? I haven't even took mine out of the box yet, but I think I only have 5 trays. I have to buy more of those yes. So you just keep staking them for them to grow, more bees, more honey. What happens if you don't give them more room after two weeks, do they all fly away? That would be sad.
Would you consider doing a video on what each part of the hive is, and how it works? I understand the basics of well thats a comb, and worker bees and the queen.
check out kamon reynolds if you are interested in honeybees and their hierarchy. Him or Bob Binney are by far the best honey bee educations channels out there! i have learned so much from them an attribute my success with my bees to them
Do you keep track of borroah mite levels? how often do you measure those mite levels? have you ever needed to do a treatment to keep mites in check? it will be a nice to watch a video about to you deal with it. thanks for your videos!
Why/how did the bees in the blue hive die? Might want to make sure wasn’t from pests/disease - by reusing their honeycomb you cld be spreading same pests/disease to your new hives/colonies
I have most likely a dumb question and no means am I trying to be rude because I love watching your guys videos but when both of you guys are out working on something how are you able to do that with all the kids. I love when they help but obviously with the bees you can not have an infant around. Do you have close family around a lot. If so that’s amazing and I’m glad to here but I’ve always just been curious.
Hi.... Jake and Becky nice to see you both, I also want to have a place to do homestead to put chickens duck goose pig, but dream will be dream, thank you for showing your video homestead 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐣🐥🦃🐕🐈🐐🐄🐖🐝🕊🌱🏡🎥👍👍👍
This may be arbitrary, but what if you named each hive after a flower? Blue Flow hive could be Bluebell, the Yellow Flow hive could be Daffodil, the green one could be Spider Mum (a green flower), and so on!
I pick up my two nucs tomorrow about an hour away. Everything is set up and ready to go. I'm so excited. I've been waiting since January for this day. Only draw back is...it's calling for rain all day tomorrow. Praying for a break in the rain until I hit them set up. Thanks for sharing.
Year round flowers would be lovely! And you can use a grass seed spreader to toss them everywhere. You'd need some from each season. Though I think their winters are too cold for any real flowers besides mistletoe and it might be a bit dangerous, since they're poisonous. There's so many different wildflowers that grow in the states too. If they plant more fruit trees, by the time the boys are in their teens, the bees will be helping pollinate those too. You can scatter the windfall and bug eaten fruits either with the pigs or in the treeline to help bolster them too and give seedlings a head start. Wildlife would then be prompted to visit those "wild windfall" trees at later dates, and leave the crop trees alone.
@@obezyanka0976 Yes the strawberries are still edible at lower levels of boron deficienty but as it gets worse, they become a lot of outer skin and seeds; still edible but pretty crunchy with minimal juicy berry. The plants themselves will not be as healthy nor hardy; and they will have decreased yields. Some would argue that the berries themselves will not be as nutritious because they aren't able to draw as many goodies from the soil.
I love your channel I just got 4 chicks today because one of my four 1 year old chickens became broody and me and dad watch your videos a lot so we got a lot of tips from you there are 2 Rhode Island reds and 2 isas thank you for all the advice
Allowing the nucs to orient before being installed would have been best. The bees flying out the top if the Nuc straight from the truck will not have oriented.
I have one flow hive I started last yr here in Ex Sp Mo. my bees swarmed before I could put the super on and ones that stayed died over the winter.. I was so sad. I got a new nuc in April and am hoping for the best this yr. My bee guy in my area comes to help me inspect every few weeks. Lot's for me to learn.
Yes, we all have different amounts of money to spend but this looks like a much better set up for just $50 more - and a drive. Normally a drive would be inconsequential but by gosh, gas keeps going up.
My dad bought a incubator and four out of six hatched, the two that didn’t hatch one of them wasn’t fertilized and the other one started to grow a bit but didn’t keep growing at all so we have four out of the six
Love seeing the bees and the hives. I am excited to see how the Lego hive works. Also I pray the your bees making it and can grow fast. Ever have need any help or questions just let me know. Awesome video
