After a couple of weeks the custom moulded plugs from Ultimate Hearing Protection have arrived. I've tried them on a few test rides and I'll show you what comes in the box, and look at what else is available.
I am looking at getting some custom ear plugs for the same reason as you.I have the Earpeace ones and they work well but I have a problem with them. The right one always comes loose.
Have been using the same set of Ultimate Hearing custom plugs for 7 years and counting. Superb. The pouch you get now looks much posher than what I got though - and didn’t get a cleaning tool either.
I’ve used these for about 10 years absolutely love them don’t ride without them I lost one and couldn’t find it long grass in Austria called U ear sent them my blanks they made just one for me service is impeccable can’t say any fairer than that they the best imo well worth every penny 👍👍
I got a pair of 'Sound Ears' from these guys, they are just amazing, both with bike to bike/pillion comms and music. What he says about having to turn the volume down is absolutely correct.
the problem I have with plugs is the sound of my own breathing, swallowing etc is amplified and becomes annoying lol..yes i could hold my breath i suppose...
Hi Tony, thanks for the reviews. I'm interested in purchasing these but they would be for studying, I like it perfectly quiet when studying and wondering if you think these will be better thank throwaway ones, I'm guessing they are more comfortable but will they block all sound? I heard throwaway ones have higher noise blocking but will these be good enough? thanks for any help
They would be more comfortable than disposable ones. You can also have them made to block more sound as far as I know. Obviously for bike use you still want some ambient noise. I have worn these at night and it’s meant I can’t hear people snoring!
I know you made this video a few years back now but I'm looking at this now in 2023. As a sufferer of tinnitus (randomly and inexplicably in just one ear), the various options are huge and the price points just as varied when it comes to custom options. I'm not sure where the justification is in price but certainly the applicatiion will be the same, give or take, and can only assume the materials used have some quality differences to account for what I've found varying from £70 right through to £300 for attenuation filtered options.
Some offerings out there do seem to charge a very high premium for not much. The standard 'squidies' I have are around 5 years old and are still as good as the day I got them. Great value for money I think
@@lyndon2634 thanks Lyndon, my use case is different, I will be using as a student and mainly so I can block as much noise as possible while studying, I'm going to bite the bullet and buy some but deciding on which company
Great video mate, just started watching your stuff and love it. I’ve got small ear canals and haven’t found any yet so going to get custom ones. I have an interphone just wondering if I do get comms ear plugs are they filtered so you can hear sirens and horns and all the rest of it? Cheers, Jake
Where are the links? I need to know too if I can get these in the States. Never wore earplugs while on the bike before, but I always have on the shooting ranges (military, law enforcement and personal). But this new VooDoo exhaust on my bike is making me rethink this. So I want them to be a "perfect fit for me!" Help!
Great Video - Custom Earguards in Leamington Spa (Warwickshire) do exactly the same - I've had a pair for a year now and they have made riding my T120 a real pleasure again (especially as I use it to commute on every day). Like you I found the foam plugs gave me earache after a couple of hours. Similar prices & products.
Hi Tony, thanks for the video. I know the video was a long time ago but I’m looking at buying a pair of the filtered earplugs from Ultimate.. you bought the 23db version and I know they also do a 29db version. How did you find the 23db’s, I don’t do constant high speeds and listen to my Cardo so want to still be able to hear that and traffic noise. Torn between the 2 options and wondered what your experience was? Thanks again 👍🏻
Thanks, to be honest there’s not a massive difference, but if I’m using comms I’ll wear the 23db. The port just makes the earphones a touch clearer which means you don’t have to turn it up as loud
They look great Tony, how much were they or did you mention in a previous vid? I’m guessing £80 + Give a ball park price if you would rather. Cheers👍🏻🏍
How is the filtered plug? I have tinnitus and of course ringing is louder when all sound is blocked out. Does the filter plug still allow ambient sound in while reducing loud noises (wind noise) thanks.
Please 🙏 what you suggest me to be the best ears plugs for not hearing a sound at all ? 🙏 My husband snore so so bad, and ears foam does not work, and I have like ears too. I want to not hear ANY SOUND going crazy ! Does that exist please ? I want to sleep back with him but that is impossible.... I havectinnitus too and hypersensitive to sound ! Thanks so much, I dream to not hear anything at all 🌌🌌🌌
You can get them made with different attenuation levels. On a motorcycle you still need to hear some ambient sounds, but for industrial use it’s not always so important. Ultimate hearing protection make plugs for all kinds of industries, it would be worth having a chat with them
@@mancavemoto I called a place in my area that makes custom earplugs but they won't completely turn off the sound in case of an emergency that I can't hear, even if my husband will hear them for me they don't want. Thank you so much for the reference suggestion, it's so appreciated as I'm discouraged. I'll go take a look and maybe the industrial noise ones would be interesting! Thanks for taking time to respond to me 👍😉
@@mancavemoto Ok I finaly found the website but sadly I am from Quebec Canada and it seems in UK. Can I ask you another things 😉 You have a reference for Quebec Canada ? And if no, what I should ask for ? Molded earplugs ? Or you have other name to suggest me ? When it's molded you have to go in their place, so I don't know if I'll find one. Sorry my bad english 😉 Thanks again to you 😁
Why does buying them make any difference to the review? People can review products without bias regardless of how they were acquired. I did actually pay for the Squigies and this wasn't a sponsored video, so its an independent review. In terms of the comparison with Custom fit guards, theres probably virtually no difference in the performance of the earplugs between the two companies. Its going to come down to price and service. Ultimate hearing provide service to industrial and motorsport organisations, which was good enough for me
The difference is custom fit guards are hard plastic where these look soft. It would be interesting to see which are more comfortable. It also seem pretty obvious that cfg are way more aggressive in their distribution to influencers. It is hard to stay impartial if your getting free things, you maybe can do it. But I’m not convinced others can.
