Vocal adrenaline are better showmans, but what ND did with "paradise by the dashboard lights" with all the arrangements is REALLY challenging

Unique has a crazy voice but the thing is it was a show choir competition, not an individual one. When they can also award based on one key voice (the MVP) then the overall award can be focused on the group performances as a whole and their song choices. Vocal Adrenaline was great, but no one but Unique stands out and Pinball Wizard is a weird choice even if they had to have an oldies song. Then New Directions showcased multiple strong voices, and hard to arrange songs without a bunch of distracting props. Plus the Meatloaf song was awesome. But I mean personal preference is a thing, that's why there are multiple judges, and you're entitled to feel how you do about the scoring

that's how i felt though unique in a powerhouse and their actor is thriving in broadway, i wouldn't give them the win because it's a group effort it's fine to give them one solo but every song they are leading and no one else gets any kind of time to shine? nope it's not about who's the best idol or performer, it's a group performance

Paradise by the dashboard light is THE best performance of the show! It's better than the original and every other song performed on the show. I don't care what anyone else is thinking. If I ever going to marry someone, it will be performed at my wedding

Paradise by the Dashboard Light is an epic Glee performance, I get chills when they come together as a supergroup and combine all those voices and harmonies together. It's a show choir competition and they rightfully won it after the journey they went through to get to that point at last. Also Rachel is the only one on the show who can do justice to a Celine Dion song, Lea even recorded a full five minute version of that song. And Cory's voice in this episode was so good! His singing had improved a lot and when he was singing with Lea, you can see how happy he was. It was so good to see them win Nationals at last as the season was coming to an end and a lot of them are about to graduate.

Lea really nailed every performances in this episode she was amazing same for Cory i think that's one of his best performance i still can't believe he died .. Vocal Adrenaline was not Better at all i hated what they did with Starships .. the second song was better but the New Directions really deserved that win Paradise By The Dashboard Light is not easy it's pretty challenging to sing that song .. Rachel and Finn were not the only one to sing this time Kurt and Blaine Santana and Mercedes their performance was more a choir show than Vocal Adrenaline.

I cannot believe you said that Vocal Adrenaline should have won because the had better props and choreography!!! The competition IS NOT about dancing or the props they used, it's about SINGING!!

If you take out Unique they don't have strong singers, so no Vocal Adrenaline should have not won

@@thaliahellen4298I mean if you paid any attention to glee you would know that everybody in vocal adrenaline are great singers cause they train every single area. Unique was just a background vocalist before she was pushed to the front. That means there was someone stronger as strong as her leading the choir during their sectionals and regionals.

@clemermoacir yes I did pay attention on the many time I have wached the series.. yes, they do practice their voices, but they tend to have 1 main vocal, Jesse and Unique are examples.. also they tend to show more dancing than singing and for me a singing competition it's about the voices you show, if you show more than just 1 powerful voices it's better and that's what New directions did.. but that's what I think, and nobody needs to agree with me.. just as I don't have to agree with you ☺️

Finn’s performance of Paradise by the Dashboard Light is probably one of my favorite Finn performances, and I absolutely love how invested in the story and characters you get and that you’re completely honest about your opinions of the stories and characters.

Oh this! The ND performance gives me chills! I remember whern it came out, I cried so much when they won hahaha, Unique was amazing also but c'mon, they needed a win, specially with so many of the main cast graduatting (I'm crying now just reewatching)

I love Unique and her voice, but Vocal Adrenaline's formula of having one standout vocalist is not as exciting as having several featured singers thoughout the 3 song set. It shows off ND depth of talent and was something that Mercedes, Kurt, and Santana fought for when Scheu was giving all the songs to Rachel and Finn.

New Directions did far better as a show choir. They showed off the amazing vocal talents of almost every member of the group. Vocal Adrenaline had one incredible singer and then just a bunch of backup dancers. They didn't deserve to win.

New direction won because this is show choir competition. Vocal adrenaline only puts unique in the spotlight. Which is an amazing voice but doesn't have choir power. New direction did a perfect combination of voices and harmonies that sound amazing together, which is what a show choir competition is about, i mean just the performance of "paradise" is the perfect example of why they won, they had harmonies, great vocals, AS ALL COMBINED. That's why a deseagre with you, for me this is the best new directions ever performed.

Last season they made nationals seem like it had multiple levels and a bracket or whatever and you have to place in the top 20 to make it to the next round, but this season it's just... a regular 3 group competition? So the entire nation sends out 3 groups?

I think they just shortened it for the sake of time. Like all the preliminary rounds happened off camera. Same thing happened at Nationals in Season 5.

There was a certain point where I stopped watching Glee because I could afford cable and I was renting the DVDs at the library. So I was sitting here like did I miss this episode lol! But I remember Rachel singing It's All Coming Back to Me and I was like oh right I love this version of this song and then when Unique did Pinball Wizard, chills. I definitely cried at the end of the episode and seeing it now made me sad because of all the losses from the cast.

I love this nationals. While this is New Direction's best performance ever it still lacks in some areas that Vocal Adrenaline mastered. I do agree with ND winning but if they won was by 10%.

Unique is great and I loved VA, but New Directions were way classier, imo. They also showcased more talents whereas VA relied too much on one performer and treat the others more like backup dancers, as great as the choreography is.

Edit: Spoilers in the replies. At this point there was a LOT of drama behind the scenes. Yes, whether or not there was going to be another season was up in the air because the higher ups behind the show all had different ideas about where to go next. Half the cast had recently found out they were "graduating" thru a very public tweet or something like that. You'll see in the next season. The show gradually declines in quality from here on out because the cast gets too big. It really is a shame because up to here it had a really, good run.

This is not true at all, they knew they had a season 4 already. You are referring to the after season 2 drama when Ryan said Rachel, Kurt and Finn would be graduating after season 3. At that time they were thinking of a spin-off for Rachel and Kurt and that was scrapped when the network thought the main show couldn't survive w/o those 2/3. All that was settled by the end of season 3. The only drama was who else might end up in Ny.

@@andym2801 sure, the show had been technically renewed, but they changed course too many times and networks don't like that. It wouldn't have been the first time a renewal had been revoked. The graduating announcement had happened around the midseason finally of season 3 and the season ended in May. They had only known for a couple months by the time they started recording the back half of the season. I chose not to go into too much detail because this is just a youtube comment and I was avoiding SPOILERS. But, since you crossed that line...primarily among the changes made was the spin off, which was planned out, a few commitments made with actors, then scrapped, and both shows got shoehorned into one.

@@andym2801it's not that she show couldn't survive without them. There just wasn't any interest in making a spin off. And the execs were correct cause s4 and mainly S5 were major flops cause no one cared about Kurt and Rachel and the whole NY thing.

@@clemermoacir You are incorrect. Right after season 2 Ryan mentioned Kurt/Rachel and Finn would graduate, but it was still just thinking spin off. The uproar began, so they put the spin off on hold at that time. The original point was that was a hashed out before season 3 started and then knew season 4 would happen.
