Honestly? Eddie’s bad luck is almost comical The fact that he practically got the lead role in the band and three days later billy begged to come back was lowkey hilarious
Have to add: I think it's a crime that Sam Claflin didn't get an Emmy nomination for this performance. He plays Billy's viceral reactions to Daisy so well, all the way from subtle signs of discomfort (and recognition and all the emotions you can think of) to full emotional tantrums/turmoils. I love watching him in this show.
Okay, I have a bit of a more meaningful comment for this episode because it's where things actually started to pop off. The thing you need to realize about Eddie is that the guy's an eager puppy who hero worships Billy. He's been looking for Billy's approval even before the band started, because the guy was a chick magnet back home. He was the cool dude everyone wanted to be with a lot of musical talent as well. Eddie wants to be like Billy, he tries to pull it off, but always falls short because he just doesn't have... it. But he's not self-aware enough to realize it, so he just gets butthurt about nobody appreciating him. On the other side, Billy's known Graham, Warren, and Eddie for a VERY long time, they've always been his little brother's friends. He's also been there from the day they started the band, he saw how horrible they were until he took it over and whipped them into shape. In Billy's head, they're still the pimply teenagers who were butchering House of the Rising Sun, the only reason it's going well now is because Billy's there to stop them from messing up. The only member of the band he actually respects by the end of Episode 3 is Karen. And that's because he didn't see her while she was still learning, he first saw her play when she was already good. He treats them all accordingly. Graham is the little brother, he's used to it. Warren is just... chill. Karen doesn't get as much shit because Billy actually respects her. Eddie's the only one who wants Billy's respect, but he doesn't get it because Billy still sees him as the high school kid. Understandably, Eddie's annoyed, because they're all good musicians now. And then there's Camila too, of course. The interesting thing about the whole Eddie vs. Billy dynamic in the show is that Eddie is lowkey right the vast majority of the time. But the character is so unlikeable that you don't actually see it at first. And then there's Daisy Jones. Billy Dunne and Daisy Jones needed each other to reach their potential. Billy Dunne is a... carpenter when it comes to music. He's a paint-by-numbers songwriter, but there's no imagination to the songs he writes. Daisy Jones is an artist, all imagination and no structure. Due to her life experiences with her parents, the fucktard who stole her song, and the "muse" asshole, she's fresh out of fucks to give, so she feels no problem with calling out Billy on the lies the guy has to tell himself just to get through the day. The song deconstruction she executed after Billy gave her shit about changing the original is something he really needs. On the other hand, Billy has things to teach her as well. I could go on, but it would clearly go into stuff that happens after this episode instead of just briefly tickling it, so I won't. To finish up, I just want to say that I'm mourning the fact that the algorithm served me that reaction for Episode 1 today instead of a month from now because I will now have to wait for the next video instead of just binging the whole thing.
I know a lot of people don't feel bad for Billy but I do. I haven't dealt with addiction myself but have with family members. It sucks that their disease negatively affects those around them, but giving them a little bit of grace helps with their recovery in my opinion. They feel enough guilt all on their own, no need for everyone else to pile it on.
TBH I'm kind of team Eddie on a lot of things. Even besides Camila, getting a music deal is not something that just grows on tree. Billy really screwed them over. Especially since Billy didn't even originally want to be in the band and now he acts like he has ownership over it. I don't hard dislike anyone on this show but I definitely understand Eddie's point when it comes to Billy.

I don't think Billy was lying. I think he actually felt that the whole thing was a waste of time. He's been the top dog for so long. Everyone has always just went along with what he said so Daisy coming in and turning everything upside down was bound to cause trouble. 25:01
Eddie showing up on his own without Billy or the others around doesn’t sit right but I don’t think he’d be icky enough to imagine Julia being his lmaoo that’d be hilarious
I'm kind of on board with the Eddie hate. If nothing else, it's entertaining. And I love the moment where Daisy and Billy sing together for the first time. It's genuinely good, and it really builds the excitement for the rest of the series.
I couldn't imagine missing the first few months of my kids' lives. They're both adults and naturally don't share as much of their lives but I would still spend every day with them if they would let me 😌
About Eddie actually in my opinion he was just a bit, wild? Like yeah he isn't the most innocent man on earth but slow down he's okay, Billy is the real enemy and don't worry he's definitely gonna prove that every single episode. Eddie's just the only one that's upfront with him.
I genuinely never hated a character the way and as quickly as I hated Billy in this show, he's just in another level for me I can't stand him even tho I love Sam😭 so I don't understand someone having more of a problem with Eddie than Billy but you do you ig😭
I’m only team Eddie when it comes to a future episode but I won’t say anything till then, as for now I’m also not a big fan of him and I wonder why he stuck around tbh cause I know him and drummer dude are besties but l guess it’s somewhat normal to have to work with people you don’t get along with when it comes to music
