Following the suicide of a Streetsboro High School senior last week, the police department and the school district are working together to educate parents and residents about "sextortion."
Thank you soo much mom and dad!!! I saw this video and OMG I never knew this happens! I immediately showed my 15 year old son and I watched him crying as he watched And heard James story because he could relate because he also runs track and a country and also is a an only child!! Then after this video he came to me in tears and told me he is so scared because it is happening to him!!!!!!! OMG ...THANK U THANK U JAMES!!!! I had no idea and he said he was feeling like leaving too but now I know and we are standing together!! I contacted authorities. But I want to express my thank u thank u I truly believed James DID just save my son's life!!!! And thank u especially mom and dad for courageously sharing James!!!!thank u thank u!!!!!
Dude, you seriously make me believe that there is hope for humanity. There's so many pieces of shit out there that it's overwhelming! When you see so much of the shit that goes on in this world it's hard to keep the faith. I know that there's not a lot of good people anymore but you ARE one of the few that are good And it doesn't stop there for you. you actually find a way to give back by helping these victims. I think we also have to teach kids that it is okay if they make a mistake. These things also pass. I too have been tricked like this. A gay man used a picture of nice looking emo girl to fool me into sending nudes. I was thinking with the wrong brain because this profile only had 1 picture. After sending dirty pics of myself, he revealed himself and said he was pleasuring himself with my pics. He said he wanted more pictures and that he wanted me to be his boyfriend. And if I said no, he would release the pics to my friends and family. I felt super scared, but then I thought to myself, no one really cares about a guy's nudes. Like do you care about the dude in dirty vids? No one even knows the guy's name. So I told him to do whatever he wanted with the pics and I blocked him. I think he shared it because I started getting some strange friend requests later. I ended up deleting the account. Now, I never use my real name on accounts and it's because of that guy.
@@Attorney.42 True, but if they do, it's not the end. Especially for a male. Male nudes are irrelevant. A guy can be 10 inches, strong like a bull, nobody even cares to get his name. He is just an equipment in the video.
Problem is people feel too ashamed to even report this to friends, family and law enforcement. Mental health has alot to do with what peoples hiding and not blatantly acting out.
Kiddos, no one can ruin your future with a few pictures! You are so young and you haven't even done anything wrong! The scammers are the ones condemned to their own sins. Even if something were to end up online or be shared, you can and will get through it. People who love you will still love you. There will be help available. There is so much left for you in this world, mistakes be damned. Everyone makes mistakes and everyone goes through things they never thought would be part of their story. Just tell someone right away and contact the police. Do not listen to anything these scammers have to say about your self-worth. You are worth more than they are, even at your darkest hour. They might take your money and your pictures- but don't let them have your life! A few pictures, a brief scary period- these things are not your whole life. You have 80 more years, filled with moments you can't even imagine, still waiting for you. Being a teenager is an incredibly difficult time in your life for a lot of reasons, but I promise: there will be better times. Things get better than they are right now.
So heartbreaking in a world of technology please preach to your children how important it is to not talk to anyone they don't know or still use parental controls ..Please it's to protect your children ..it's so sad

This is so sad, my heart breaks for this kid and his family. Tgings like this have been happening since I was a teenager. It was 2002-2003 when I was 13, I was being harassed by someone online. They harassed me constantly for months for nude photos and threatened to hack my computer... back then, i thought that was the worst thing; knowing my parents would be so upset with me if i not only ruined the computer but also found what I was doing online. Until one day my parents got a call from a guy who claimed to know me and demanding to speak to me. I remember bawling so hard while i told my parents the truth. I felt so ashamed but they reassured me. Looking back, I'm so glad the truth came out when it did because I couldn't imagine what would have happened if they never found out. Being young, naive, and never in a situation like that, I truly thought if I just gave what they wanted then I'd be left alone but that is not the case.

We also need to spread awareness of the fact that sometimes they won't be any red flags/warning signs because some of these suicides happen in hours of being catfished. These children go from having zero intentions to kill themselves to within hours feeling like there is no other option. The window is short and parents won't have enough time to recognise something is terribly wrong. A Michigan teen ended his life after 6hrs of communicating with a catfish online, possibly the last couple or so of those hours being the duration where he ended up feeling, thinking, and deciding it's end of the road for him, in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep. How can we prevent that, a window of time where red flags/warning signs are not going to be seen immediately?! Just to think that boy spent agonizing hours in his room dealing with the devils that extorted him all alone is haunting to know. We need more than just information on warning signs/red flags and how to monitor children online etc. We need to enforce incredible, extreme limitations on social media platforms. Each nation needs to enforce it. All social media platforms legally held responsible for the safety of their users so extremely that they are forced to heavily monitor and limit usage etc. We all can do with extreme limits to use and access to social media, everyone. Cap that shit and remove DMs and shit. Be done with it. I'm so sick of hearing about children dying because of these stupid devices. How dare they get to reach kids and expose kids to this. It's insane! If these kids can't buy a pack of cigs or alcohol if they don't meet the age criteria then wtf are they able to have an account online that also allows them to have stupid tool like DMs and photo sharing abilities. The only photos they should be in and taking is with family and friends to put into albums not online, not for the public to see.

I just want to make a correction about with the news reporter said the mom and dads conviction of their story can save some child's life, it will save some childs life. Teenagers don't believe their parents we were all in that boat and we as parents of teenagers have to remember that keep them aware
I have just watched a similar story , ( white kid, also committed suicide) because of sextortion , the police have extradited the perpetrators from Nigeria , so what’s the problem in this case?

To the Woods family, I’m so sorry that this happened to you. I pray that our God will reassure you often that James is forgiven of all sin and that you will see him again when Jesus raised him from the dead to eternal life. If you are plagued with questions about why this had to happen I would like to share that I believe our God is allowing these things to take place as a test and it is mysterious but there is a reason He didn’t intervene. There are many many souls who can be saved from hell and from being very evil because of the lessons we can all learn and pass on though the death of your beloved son. We all need to teach our kids that any sexual acts before marriage are unwise and so evil for us all. God has spoken, it is sexual immorality to have sexual relations before marriage and that is because it is not perfect. There is no shame in being married. But if people do make mistakes we are supposed to forgive them and support them and I pray that more and more young people know this. I pray that God will help our youths to avoid this wicked trap evermore.
