I agree, Stan is the man 👍🏻 not easy for kids to get into the market today, they almoste demands that you need to be 22y old with a 55y old experiences
We do our jobs so you and everyone else can get to their jobs. I like when people like you show their appreciation for us that do the hard things in life to make sure everyone else can travel from home to work and vice versa safely. I'm a site manager for a private school in se Wisconsin and I take pride in making sure the kids and parents can get in and out safely during the winter
I take care of the Army building in South boston and we take a lot of pride in making sure everything is damn near perfect, all walkways, lots, smoking areas They dudes protect our country least we could do is MAKE sure that they can make it into work safely Also we are getting paid top dollar so that help too 🫡
Hastelloy X Need to get some State Laws on the Recyclers. Here they want a picture ID and they take your picture. Recycler gets caught violating the law, they loose their business licenses. And yeah the Police check to.
I know a logger that had a new set of batteries stolen out of his off-road spot truck, an old R model Mack. When he went to the local NAPA store to buy some more there were his old batteries in the trade in stack! Of course nobody knew the guys that brought them in for a core change!
Put your name on the bottom of batteries because no one really looks at the bottom and you can prove that they are yours and that the cops need to investigate them for accepting stolen goods and you get your batteries back
This happened to a friend of mine as well, their truck had the diesel particulate filter cut off in the parking lot at a hotel one night. 10k (cdn) insurance claim between the cost of the filter, electrical and everything else hooked to it. They we’re stuck there until it was fixed because truck was in limp mode. Police say It happens a lot, apparently the filters and converters are worth a good chunk of cash at the scrap yards because of the materials they are made of.
So sad, I just had a 16' enclosed trailer full of my belongings stolen. Packed and ready for a move, and nothing covered by homeowner's insurance bc considered storage. $20k worth
Hey I wanted to make a quick meteorological correction at 14 min 45sec. The weather around St Paul, MN at the time of this video was still being influenced by a low pressure system centered over southern WI/northern IL. The radar loop does a perfect job illustrating the flow around low pressure systems, which is counter clockwise. The opposite of a low pressure system is a high pressure system and they spin clockwise. High pressure systems are hard to see without looking at a visible or infrared satellite loop. Second, the great lakes are at a distance too great to influence the weather in and around the Twin Cities. The lakes typically impact a relatively small region around the body of water compared its immense size. If you are wondering, I'm a meteorologist by trade and by no means calling you out. On another note, your other videos have helped me greatly with my own at home projects!!
Stan, the price of scrap metal is actually still in the tank. Converters have precious metals inside so their price has always stayed high. They go for a minimum of $60-70 scrap price in my area.....that's quite a few hits of drugs for a 5 min theft job.
My dad talked about this, it's the Platinum and Palladium used, This happened as well back in the early 2000's, and I was honestly shocked. In todays marked for the Canadian dollar for ONE ounce, CA$1,375.59 for Platinum. and if it's not Platinum in these Converters, it might be Palladium which for the Canadian dollar for One ounce is CA$2,854.45. It's honestly not a shock they went after the Catalytic Converters.
@@VickyBorean some also contain rhodium. There is usually less than an ounce of one or all combined, but for those without a conscious or need money for a drug fix and can get a few dollars, it's worth it to them. There are several ways to cut them off, usually in less than 5 mins with a sharp blade or a good circle chain cutter.
Ford cats by me go for 300 to 1500 at the cats place i scrap cars and lowest price at the place i go to is 120 high i made of a scrap 1999 ford f250 was 1600
Stan, what ever you have t do to stop the thieves from steeling from you I am 100%on board with what ya gotta do, also, we here in NJ are gearing up along with all. The other states for a major snowstorm, last I checker, 8-12 inches and possibly even more< have a great night Alexander costa
Over Half million Subs.!!! I can remember when you only had a few thousand. Thieves, DON"T even get me started, some topics I just need to back away from before I get myself in comment trouble.
We have customers who literally pay us to pour concrete slabs over asphalt so they can park their cars over it preventing catalytic converter thieves. What a shame
Again, fantastic video! Thank you for the quality content! Is really grinds my gears when some one steals anything (including time!) but damaging someone's truck takes them to a new level of scum!
I feel your pain on the snowplowing, we worked 13.5 hours straight that day. I wish our company was big enough to take on more accounts, im hoping in the near future to get our boss to take on more like you do, we do everything lawn care right now, but I personally would like to get into the excavation of things more.
Makes me glad I live where we are exempt from having to have cats due to heavy salt use... lightbars up here are fair game though, as well as anything they can hitch up and tow away. One prat sold someones trailer on craigslist (using pics of it in legal owners driveway no less) before he even stole it.
they have been doing that in the uk for years i dont live there but a few guys i worked with moved over to australia a couple of years back and they would say you would have to put stuff around your cars that would be too noisy for them to move in the middle of the night or make it so they couldn't physically fit under the car by putting it on a ramp over or something and even they they might jack it up climb under and cut it out
@@andreweastaughffe1070 Scrap metal prices are up significantly now. It makes it worth the thieve’s time. Shady scrapyards will buy the converters no questions asked.
in wisconsin it is well known, thieves are going after catalytic converters and brand new tire and rims off of pickups at dealerships-been going on for at least 2 years with no arrests yet
The manitou is a smaller model than the cat track loader. But if you really wanna compare it with a cat is taking the 2550 RT or 3200 VT. Because we run mustang skid steer and they are basically the same machine just each machine has tweets and I plow with my 1900R mustang skid steer for about 15-18 hours.
Yep got my truck at work sitting right under a light. Company security cameras not working. We actually heard them at 3am ran out of the building and almost got our hands on them. They managed to drive off the property before we got to them. Man was I pissed.
Always love watching both Stanley and Brian's lawn maintenance, I've gottenalot of information about the business side and the equipment side of things. Keep the content coming guys
@@Dirtmonkey got llc this year so looking forward to growing and getting a wright stander x 48" just don't know how well they handle for bigger guys vs the pro stance
@@Dirtmonkey it's probably already in one of your vids but do you put weight in the back of your pickups? I know the back plow balances the weight of the front plow but not while you're plowing with it! Siping tires does help as well as the rubber compound in snow tires.
North Norway here, I been doing same stuff you been doing since 1991. Last 20 years been cleaning snow whit a Volvo L45 and L70. The L45 is a dream machine. I never in my life seen any one clean snow whit cars and those small ones.. bobcat's? But fun to see the difference. Can't I use small metall spikes in the tires for better grip
::Glad to see that you have been getting some winter work we have only about 8" of snow not much this year. Cheers from central Alberta. ps hope you get more snow.
Everytime I watch you use the pull plow I want one more and more. I could just imagine how fast we could get our lots done. Even with just one. We run 3 fisher xv2. 2 9’6” and 1 8’6”
Same thing happened where I work all of our late model E150 vans had the catalytic convertors stolen in about 30 minutes. Saw it all on video the next day. Little flex pipe and our vans are still rolling just a bit louder these days!
That snow sucked in Rochester, MN it was so wet! "Heart attack snow" hey stan can you put the company links for the board in the description of these videos from now on? Keep up the fun videos I haven't seen a bad one yet.
Pay the local deer hunters to camp out and get em in the legs so they're still there when the cops that we called show up. Enough get caught that way the others might realise it's not worth it.
The sound of a lever action cycling a round would put of most opportunists. Have it wired into a sensor for movement on truck. As soon as they start to work the sound comes of pa system under the hood. You might inherit some of their tools and DNA as they bolt of into the dark. Aussie Jeff
I’ve never had a piece of my equipment stolen. You know why? Because I have the most advanced security system. I got my bald eagle dispenser (1911), and Roscoe the pit. Keep up the videos👍
Hey Stanley , I love your videos! I have been plowing for myself and another company since I was 16. I started learning all I could from working for other guys and videos on here. I really want to start my own plowing/heavy equipment/ hauling gig and I started by buying a truck and the only ones in my budget are crap so it’s partly down right now lol. I started saving more money but in 2018 when I was 22 and just getting started I had heart failure and my kidneys Abruptly failed. After that I did 2 1/2 years on dialysis very sick and couldn’t make much progress on my own set up. In August of 2020 I finally got a kidney transplant and have been recovering since. It can take quite a while to fully heal and I’m still on disability for a year or so but I’d love to come out of this healing process full force. I can’t do lifting or anything yet but I’ve been focusing on getting all my tools organized, and seeing what I have and what I’ll need. Trying to somehow come up with some used equipment cheap without getting junk. I guess what I’m wondering is How did you get your first equipment? Did you finance? Any tips on finding deals or coming up with easy money to buy decent equipment? I probably can’t finance though. I feel so behind already. Kidneys don’t last forever and it would be hard doing it all while on dialysis again. I never got a chance to get myself established before my health went south( all because of high blood pressure! So think next time before you order the f&@kin bacon 😂.) I’m 25 now just tryin to save my future. Thanks for your input man, keep makin great videos.
had a rash of cat stealing around here for a while, well one got caught in the act by the owner of the vehicle ... the wrong person to steal from a thief has two broken hands
He shouldn’t have tried to hit the owner... that was darn nice cuts. I couldn’t make such nice cuts. I have thought having a truck squat device. POS starts cutting, truck drops to @8”. So they are pinned.
@@Josh-pg3km he should be in jail if that's his reaction to having somebody try and steal a cat. All you have to do is subdue them and wait for the police or chase them off before they succeed; to go to those lengths ( or worse ) is pretty damned sick.
Yeah he said there were cameras at the building and up on the lights pole. Hopefully they caught whoever came you just can't go checking cameras when there's snow to be moved I guess
Hey Stan, I plow in Omaha, NE. And we use the express steel pushers. $2500 for a brand new 10’ with a back drag on it. What we’ve decided as a company as yeah as sweet it would be have top of the line stuff like an arctic sectional. We just don’t have the justification on spending that much when we average
yea the idea wasnt just stans original thought/idea. just like everything he says when hes advertising the products he gets paid to talk about. what he raves about for the brands he gets reimbursed by or receives products for free from is basically exactly straight frommthe manufacture’s ads. its not verbatim but its the closest to exactly the same as you can get
Stan, the storm you described is essentially a Nor'Easter, like they have in New England. The storm goes from South to North. And the counter-clockwise spin that puts the snow on us can produce the deepest snowfalls. Agree with you regarding depth being dependent on the air temperature. my ArmChair meteorolgy 2 cents. Also, right now, 02/02/2021, Fox 9 is running a piece on cataletic converter thefts. Some theives are using stolen tow trucks -- looks less conspicuous, and lifts the car for access to the converter. Stay Safe Dirt Monkey Force.
Scrap yards pay a lot for cats but the good thing is I know around me you have to now show ID when you come in with certain kind of materials, So you can probably call some scrap yards and see if anyone brought a cat in or if they bring them in on the regular and they will be able to know and notify the police. They have done it before because it looks like the have the mechanics tool to make a quick clean cut on exhaust pipes. Sorry that happened to you brother. Good luck with the snow. We might be getting our first decent snowfall here on Monday so we will see. Stay Safe
I'm in Butte Montana love your videos. Sorry there are bad people out there. We just got an unexpected blizzard so its plow time for me. Keep up the work love the vids.
Sorry about the cat converter. Happening all over twin cities. Think metal recyclers would take a hint. They tried at our workplace in Vadnais Heights, coworker caught them halfway through the saw.
Interested in how grooving the tires will help. Think I had shared some of the ones I have used on another video. Did you ever find out how using attachments on different brand skid loaders works out when they use different types of hydraulic fluids?
Don't feel alone on your catalytic converter getting stolen the same thing happened to me with my poor old '01 ram that I have just for a plow truck that I keep in the lot at the shop where I work went to bring it in Christmas Eve night and it was really loud called the cops and we both know nothing you can do about it thanks for another great video
I have no time for crooks. Go out and work like the rest of us. Were expecting some snow this weekend (central Pennsylvania) could possibly be a nor'easter. Pretty pumped. Great video Stan keep it up.
My main complaint with my mustang (manitou) is the cup holder and radio are both on the left side so it’s a pain drinking coffee/skipping commercials while I drive between accounts. 😂 Otherwise it’s a beast. Mine is a 70hp and it doesn’t bog down when I hit the pile like yours was.
Thieves stink! A couple of years ago they stole cats off our church bus and van. A week ago a vandal totaled our 2006 Chevy Express 3500 15 pax van. Smashed every window out and destroyed the dash with the tire iron. So I feel your pain.
Hey Stanley, heres a fun thought. there are companies that make hardened steel skid plates for trucks. theres youtube channels that do it. commercial trucks are a popular target for cat theft (believe it or not) what if we did a collab with a youtube fabricator and made some hardened steel skid plates for the cats. then parked them in a lot with motion sensor go-pros and watched the drug-fiend hilarity ensue? Mark Rober has done similar things to this with the glitter bomb. skid factory is usually down for a fabrication collab. the fabrication series is a bit closer to home. also i would look to reaching out to fireball tool, and abom79. all excellent fabrication, and heavy machinery channels.
That was a good video Stanley!! Sorry about the cat thief’s!! You should do a video with the sidewalk crew on the struggles that they deal with during a storm. My guys bust their butts on sidewalks and don’t have much glory...
Thats awful, terrible feeling to be stolen from besides financial pain. I hope the scumbags get caught and they don’t do any more damage to your fleet. Man those arctics do a sweet job.
Same thing happend to a number of trucks in a MNDOT yard over in Roseville a while back. An Inspector I know got in his truck and turned the motor over and when it fired up said it scared the crap out of him lol. Crazy man.
Unreal but believable here in Jersey that happened about a year and a half ago the thieves were going around under cars with a battery operated grinder in cutting off the cavalier converters as they have platinum in them, You guys stay safe out there God bless
They are hitting everywhere. Here in St. Louis there is a rash of catalytic converters thieves. In my business we own box trucks and most of us park it at the warehouse. Thieves came in and got 8 catalytic converters
@@Dirtmonkey ps ...... I’m sorry your catalytic converter was stolen ..... the thieves can saw right through a pipe in a minute or two ..... trucks are easier because they sit a bit higher off the ground ..... stinks to high Heaven ..... take care of yourself, and thanks for all your videos ..... it’s like I work with you, FOR FREE!!
I work in Blaine Minnesota and we had all the cats stolen off all our plow trucks and we did the math on how ,ice they are getting for them and I was over $1000, we made a police report but they were never caught. No one should steal from hard working people like you.
That is a low pressure system you are looking at on the radar/satellite. You're just North West of the center of the Low. Low pressure systems always rotate in a counter-clockwise motion. (known in meteorology as Cyclonic) High pressure systems rotate in a clockwise direction. (Anti-cyclonic) Generally high pressure systems are associated with good weather. Low pressures are what bring all the nasty stuff. Also, the directions are only true in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere its the opposite. Just my 30 second run down on what was on the radar/satellite.
I lived in Milwaukee and Chicago. I grew up and now live in Eastern Connecticut. This is the exact type of snow / temps that we get in souther New England on a regular. It is heavy and tough.
