Was it true that in those years, no one in Bhutan had a television at home ? If so, how did they go about watching movies ? 8mm ?

Correct no TV (cable or DTH) back then, but by 80s many homes especially in Thimphu had TV sets and rented VHS from rental stores. We even watched sports in VHS- I remember watching 1986 Football World Cup that was recorded on a VHS.

@@tomjordan6523we did both. There were rental shops in town and people who owned VHS typically bought them abroad.

@@pemawangchoob okay thanks ; oh and last question, if you know. Before the establishment of Royal Bhutan Army in the 50s ; Were there before police forces, firefighters in Bhutan in the 1800s, early 1900s ? I ask this because I know that there was no regular army in the country at that time.
