Legend has it that the sled drivers had to have their sleds specially made to fit their massive balls.

Did that in the U.P. of Mi. A branch of a river about 180 ft+ wide. 8 ft deep and chunks of ice floating. 15 degrees out. We kept going back a forth across it. 4 sleds wide. We had a blast. Went to the store and purchased a cheap box camera and went back to take pics. LOL Reason I know how deep it was because there was a fire built on the shore where a 15 year old kid was trying to get warm after sinking his Mother's sled there. He took off all of his clothes and swam down and hooked a rope on it so they could get it out. It was about 20 miles to the nearest town (Seney). Kid was hypothermic. Could barely talk. The other people there were trying to thaw out his clothes which were froze solid.

@@daddyrabbit835 Mid-eastern part of U.P. About 15-20 miles just north of Seney off the snowmobile trail. Probably about 12 years ago.

One time a friend of mine was on a lake going at a high speed and one of his skis caught a loop of barb wire in the ice and pretty much totaled his Summit

If it were up to me anybody who goes through the ice knowingly driving a smowmobile in these conditons should have to pay for the cost of their rescue. Same for the people who go through the ice on Lake Simcoe with their trucks, ATV'S and snowmobiles when the ice conditions are bad in the early winter and spring. I've spent most my life ice fishing and snowmobiling and working on the ice and I've learned to recognize dangerous conditions and to respect and avoid them.
@usak8670
@usak8670 2 года назад
They do have to pay for their rescue, well usually in form of vehicle recovery
@matth8924
@matth8924 2 года назад
In America they definitely already do... But water-skipping like this actually isn't nearly as dangerous as it looks. As long as the guy on the sled know what they are doing and pin it, they will be just fine. People literally race watercross on snowmobiles.
@PRLOutdoors
@PRLOutdoors 2 года назад
It's upwards of 10 grand in fines alone in some areas for sinking a vehicle or sled. That doesn't cover what your paying to actually get it out.
