Just ended a 3 year relationship because of the friend issue. Have friends, yes. But when those friendships lack boundaries and overlap into behaviors of a romantic relationship, it’s disrespectful to who you’re with. I can’t be with someone who doesn’t respect me.

Totally agree, like if your friend doesn’t acknowledge my existence they gotta go

@@JA-td3my Right! And if you need them in your life (in a way that blatantly disrespects me as the person you’re building towards a lifetime with) so badly, is that really just your friend? 🤔

Not married but what i’ve learned in being in a four year relationship is that it is so important to learn how your partner recharges. Especially in introvert+extrovert relationships. Each person needs to understand and be accepting of how one another recharges in order for a successful and healthy relationship!

Marriage has taught me a lot of patience. It has taught me that I can't just expect my husband to get up and clean when I start to clean. I can't expect something I never communicated to him. I learned that when an argument is too heated its okay to walk away for a minute and come back when we have calmed down and can listen to each other. I learned to share my space and to not be so selfish. I learned how to communicate even though we aren't professionals at it. I can't ask for a thank you or appreciation for every little thing because it is a team effort and sometimes they aren't Donna notice the little things. I love how you said to always have the mindset of they aren't doing something to make you mad and that they always have good intentions.. it is very easy to quickly go to anger. I always try to consider that they just didn't know and that I just gotta communicate it. Marriage has helped me grow and mature as a person. 😊

Love listening to you guys! Not super seasoned but been married for six years and one of the biggest lessons I learned/learning was that I can NOT change my spouse, but I can control my emotions and actions and put the Holy Spirit on em. The Holy Spirit is cold with it though. Instead of griping ill pray for him, then next thing I know my prayers are answered. The Holy Spirit will convict them MESS out my husband and me too lol, but I do my job and pray and serve and the Holy Spirit does the rest. He is the best at his job, I'm terrible at it. Some prayers may not be instantly answered and may take time, but God does the best pruning and sanctifying during that waiting period. But yeah if I want them socks off the floor, I'll let hubby know my request but I'll lean into prayer too lol.

The relationship insight/advice that I can offer are: when you look at and/or deal with each other, remember who’s each of you are. You are a son and a daughter of God, treat each other accordingly. Also, there is a wise saying that goes: you have two ears and one mouth, use them proportionately. Those are the two biggest lessons that I have learned and am still on a journey of learning. They have priceless in helping me come so far in my relationship.

I’m not in a relationship or or married but I was in a abusive relationship 3 years ago and had a relationship a year ago. Being single I have learnt SO much. I’ve seen exactly what a relationship shouldn’t be and grown alone and learnt my love language and how I would like to be loved and how I like to communicate etc. but I love watching you guys, I love your relationship and your dynamic together, it’s really beautiful to see the life you’ve built and I’ve watched from day one 🥰

The main thing I have learned from being married is that you always have to remember your on the same team. Sometimes when fighting you get it in your head that you are against each other but if you remember your on the same team in those moments the argument heads towards a more of a fixing conversation than a fight.

This one is so deep! 25 years of marriage and I still get so mad when my husband stops somewhere to get a “snack” after he gets off work and doesn’t call me! I also have a hard time expressing/speaking my feelings if he doesn’t do something I expect him to do! I realize he’s not a mind reader but I feel like he should just know! Something else that makes me so mad is when he tells me I don’t have to leave the house to go to work because I’m a stay at home mom! It’s sad that I feel like going to the grocery store is my alone time! I don’t even get a shower without my 3 year old bugging me! I even lock the door but he’s learned how to unlock it! Marriage is hard and takes work every day! It is not just reading your vows and you’re done you must put your vows to work!

Thank you for the section where you talked about the difference between thinking your relationship is God-centered versus what it's like to be ACTUALLY God-centered. Especially acknowledging that God showed favor AND the not so great things. That is giving others a better realistic understanding of what will happen!! I really really appreciate that because this is something I had to learn the hard way but being on the other side now, it is the most amazing and freeing thing to realize what you thought was for you is so much less than what GOD has waiting for you.

My husband and will be married 3 years in Sep. we have definitely learned A LOT in this short amount of time. I loved y’all’s transparency when you brought up not doing the dishes while the other takes care of Ry bc I think one of the biggest things I’ve learned and think every couple should know is “expectations” as in not assuming your partner knows what you expect, and making sure you voice your expectations and not expecting your partner to read your mind no matter how long you’ve been together ❤️

Being in a relationship for 7 years has taught us a lot but three of the biggest take aways from our relationship that we would love to share is .. 1. It’s not always going to be 50/50 & that’s OKAY !! 2. When you get an argument / disagreement try to remember “it’s you & your partner against the problem not you & your partner against each other” you’re on the same team always ! 3. Compromise & communication is huge ! For example, Daniel always gets out the shower & leave the little plug up so the next time when I go to take a shower the shower just turns on right on top of me before I’m ready lol so when I brought that up to him he told oh baby I was just trying to save you a step but I didn’t like that even tho he was just trying to be nice lol so nooow .. when I get out the shower I leave the plug up for him & when he gets out he puts the plug down for me . Compromise 💗 ahah

46:36 I definitely relate to this; in most cases I don’t assume someone has ill intentions because they most likely weren’t trying to upset you. Don’t jump to conclusions!!! it’s true for other areas of life too, not just marriage

Sav: "it's a wife's job to keep the peace in the house." I like that Sav. 🥰😊🙏🏾✝️ I know when I choose to fight every battle, there is not as much peace in the house. Submission is really important. We've been married for almost 3 years as well, together for 8 years. ♥️😁 Anyways , I think it's important to choose your battles. Not everything has to be turned into a huge debate, or one trying to over explain themselves. 😅🥱Each of us are different individuals. We are one in marriage, but are still two different people that God knitted together (uniquely) in the womb. It's okay to have different opinions, etc. But still keep the peace and unity - With God in the middle. Ecclesiastes 4:4-9 are my favorite bible verses for marriage. 🙏🏾✝️😊🙌🏾

Marriage is what taught me to give grace. Just as much if not more than I give myself. My husband is not always gonna be at 100. My husband works his behind off every day so as the wife if he comes home and is obviously drained, I can't expect him to immediately hop on the list of things that I need his help with. Give grace and let that be okay. Have faith that we are a team and we do this journey together. So there will be a day where I'm not 100 and he will give grace and he has for me. Marriage taught me to give grace and have faith in that❤️❤️

Having a 5 year old daughter and 1 year old son, married for 5 years. Your plan on how to discipline and what your parenting style will look like is forever a revolving door. You are a certain way for a season and then when your child gets older you discipline a different way and it is forever changing. I know once my daughter is 10 or 17 I will be parenting a different way than the season I am in. Marriage has taught me an exceptional amount of patience and that communication is something taught in your child hood home and if you didn’t see communication or raised in a house with communication, than you have to work really hard to communicate even when you don’t want to. And communication looks so different for a lot of people. So communicate HOW you both communicate and come to an agreement on what communication in your marriage will look like

When my husband and I were dating, he had a best friend that was a female. She was married, and they met at work but were no longer working together. It was super weird to me. I did not like her. She was 10+ years older than my husband. It was super weird. Now, my husband and I have been together for 5.5 years AND she’s one of my besties too. We would not be where we are today in life without her. I very vividly remember her being at our home with our dog when we brought our daughter home from the hospital. She literally watched her while my husband and I took a few hour nap. She also helped us pay bills at one point when we were really struggling. There’s many, many more instances I can give.

You don’t need to explain! A hidden love language for women is men doing some household chores. It’s like foreplay🤣😉 And going through hard times personally can be so hard in a marriage. You do feel like the other person needs to help, when you can’t depend on them fully for happiness. Especially as a believer, we must give it to God and depend on Him! Being your best self alone is so important and something I’m working on daily!
