Another tip: for a better/easier connection between turnouts, a custom curve would probably be best for that function. The custom curve allows for more fine-tuning adjustments, and so would probably allow for more accurate placements/connections.

3:30 for points/switches if you have the angle set to 11.25 and the length at 112 and space them 1 or 3 blocks apart respectively, they will line up almost perfectly, when they're 3 blocks apart just get a 6 long straight track and line it up with one of the points. It looks good and works well. This all works the the default placement of tracks
The problem in a practical scenario arises when you have long coaches traveling over back to back opposite curves. The problem is often more pronounced in model railroading but you end up with weird misalignments in coach/carriage bodies.
I think that cars in real railway (Europe, standard gague) have 150 m minimum radius (and 80 meters if the car is pushed slowly). It fits the observation about usable radius quite well.

@@lucaknight_ It doesn’t really feel like it in-game (everything looks smaller than it is in _Minecraft),_ but I did the math. Each block is one meter along each edge, which is divided into sixteen pixels. I measured the gauge in pixels and converted it to inches. I don’t think it was exactly 7.5”, but it was close. You’re welcome to check my work, though. I don’t remember the exact pixel measurement, so I can’t recreate the calculation until I can log on and look at it again.
