Yeah, and the whole idea of claiming Assassin's creed is historical is rather hilarious in the first place, I don't understand why they think that is a good idea. But this type of activists tend to edit history to fit their narrative. They are not the only ones who done that, there was this Italian leader with a funny hat who was all about that 90 years ago for instance but it isn't a good idea. It is too easy to fact check these things nowadays and when people are figuring out you are making things up you look like an idiot. Trying to block the people most likely to know you made it all up from your web site does not paint a great picture. They know it is fraudulent and are trying to hide the fact that they are lying.

@@blumind_web2264 Let me break it down for you Nobunaga had a propensity for the unique, and he was particularly interested in all things foreign. Clearly he was fascinated by Yasuke, and this was documented to be to the chagrin of many of his top generals such as Akechi Mitsuhide. Yasuke was also mentioned in the prototype of Shinchō ki owned by Sonkeikaku Bunko , the archives of the Maeda clan. According to this, the black man named Yasuke was given his own residence and a short, ceremonial katana by Nobunaga. Nobunaga also assigned him the duty of weapon bearer. After the Battle of Tenmokuzan, Nobunaga led his force, including Yasuke, and inspected the former territory of the Takeda clan. So people make the assumption that Yasuke actually fought in this battle, and that he donned Samurai armor and fought valiantly as a samurai hero. Fact check: A sword bearer stays behind with the general camp, near to the lord, they don't go out on the battlefield, and there is absolutely no documentation that depicts him doing otherwise. There is also NO RECORD of Yasuke receiving martial arts training, or use of the Japanese sword, either when in the service of Nobunaga or the years prior. The truth is that his time with Nobunaga was limited, as they first met in 1581 and Oda Nobunaga was dead a year later. This is hardly enough time for Yasuke to be trained. Besides, if Yasuke was a samurai he would've been treated like one by Akechi and Mitsuhide, dude would've died in battle or committed seppuku for failing to save his master Oda Nobunaga in the Honnō-ji Incident. The fact that he was captured instead then let go is a testament to his non-combatant role. The only record of him ever fighting against other samurai was when a bit after the incident, he was confronted by the Akechi Forces while at the residence of Nobutada.

The only one I heard was someone who tried to disguised themselves as a “Japanese Historian” and tried to make a big deal about Ubisoft blocking him (when it was later found out that he was blocked for making various hateful remarks towards Ubisoft and it reaching a point where people had receipts on the guy and how he was basically a fraud). And it didn’t take long for people to see how this “Japanese person” had a rather fun history bashing Xbox and Star Wars (alongside many other things), so it wasn’t like the guy had much of a case outside of a desperate attempt at doubling down. An attempt that got laughed off by many. Anything else beyond that would be news to me.

@@mas8705 kinda strange how Ubisoft having alot of people that "support" them, yet feels the need to block one person who is lying? When there are so many others who literally go against them at X/twitter. So unless you can show me where this happened surely the comments would still exist unless all the people who interacted with decided to conveniently delete their comments altogether then I doubt it. Quite curious really since you know about it in detail.
@mas8705
@mas8705 3 месяца назад
 @welderscript9329 For sure. I don't have the full details, but I can do my best to explain what happened. Apologies for the wall of text. The User goes by "Samurai_KenjiYa" and he made a big deal over getting blocked because "he was trying to tell the truth" when in reality, people had receipts showing not only what he said, but other rather discolorful things (and how his "Japanese" was a google translate). Basically, if the guy was supposed to be a "Japanese Historian" as he claimed, he did a poor job in between throwing out so many insults that the twitter page deemed it right to block the guy. It was a fun day on the 17th of June and the best part was that the guy tried to double down saying, "He was pretending to be American" all this time and just came out as being Japanese right as this whole thing with Assassin's Creed Shadows happened. Of course, the guy has decided to set his tweets to private (because of course he did), and he did try to delete his tweets, but whatever attempt the guy was trying blew up in spectacular fashion (including people who previously backed the guy immediately having to double back because they got duped). That and how one funny tweet shows Grummz backing the guy when right under, you see this guy not only bad mouthing Joe Biden (I could care less about politics), calling him the p-word, and how he does say outright, "How is he our President?!?" Now to be clear: Ubisoft can be a poor company. This is by no means defending Ubisoft since those in Japan who may have their hate against them can be justified in their own right by all means. I just don't like the part where someone in the US decides to "magically" make himself Japanese in a half baked attempt to try and discredit Ubisoft because of blind hate. It would be nice to link, but youtube usually delete those comments so again, "Samurai_KenjiYa" on twitter and you can see the fun of one man's attempt at being relevant. Lots of fun receipts posted by various people.

The ACS's portrayal of Japan is very inaccurate. Yasuke is not a legendary samurai or anything like that (it is doubtful that he even attained the rank of samurai in the first place). It is also untrue that beheading was a common cause of death, as the producers have stated in interviews (beheadings were mainly carried out against enemy generals of high rank as a sign of defeat). The vegetation of plants, flowers and fruits is also false, and the architecture is inconsistent with the period. This is fantasy with a Japanese flavour. If it is fiction or fantasy, it does not matter whether Yasuke is the greatest swordsman in Japan, Nobunaga is a robot from the future or the Japanese eat potatoes instead of rice as their staple food. However, UBI announces that ACS is set in a very realistic Warring States period in Japan, based on historical facts. We have respect for our history and culture. Don't mock the Japanese people.

I actually looked deeper into the yasuke thing and I'm starting to have doubts that he ever saw combat. The whole yasuke was a samurai thing comes from two separate texts. One saying that yasuke was brought to nobunaga and that nobunaga liked him and turned him into a retainer (家来). then there is a separate text saying that the black slave(s) fought hard in battle. The issue that I found with combining these texts is specifically the attitudes towards black people and slaves that are expressed in other Japanese texts and the way that this person is referred to if we were to assume they are referring to the same person in the text in question. first off we are supposed to assume that yasuke was given some level of standing in society, he wasn't just a nobody he was directly working for the Lord. and a pretty powerful one at that. he was definitely somebody that should be worthy of some level of respect in society. so why is it in the text that refers to him fighting, they basically call him the n-word (黒奴)? we don't see black people get derogatory treatment in other Japanese texts either, so you can't apply an American lens of discrimination against them in this case. that doesn't really come until movies start being made and exported to Japan. in my opinion what actually happened in history, I would need to see European logs of the expedition though in order to confirm this and that's very hard to find, is that they brought some number of slaves with them, they presented all of them to nobunaga and he liked yasuke and freed him from slavery. he then separately kept a whole bunch of other black people as slaves and use them in battle. slavery in Japan was unusual but it was not unheard of, so this could be a valid theory, again, depending on European logs of the mission, which I don't think are available publicly.

The worst part about all this is the message it sends when people are saying “well you got one female Japanese main character so shut up and let black folks have some representation.” They’re literally telling Asians to just take the little crumb they so generously sprinkled on the floor for us and be grateful for it in a game where Asians should’ve been the focus in the first place. These people are so self absorbed in being “anti-racist” that they’re being racist to Asians by shoving them to the side to put another minority group in the limelight

Yasuke was in a one of the Bushi's job 'Kosho'(小姓), which is mainly, serve a military commander(将軍) and do miscellaneous work (like sword bearer). Kosho often young boys are in charge, Beautiful boys were often chosen and sometime became homosexuality(衆道). his record of he fighting is the only one, Honnoji Incident(本能寺の変), and that is writen in the books of the Jesuits who were not present that morment(not any japanese historical artical is written). if this is true(honnouji case which is written in Jesuits book is true), that book said Yasuke surrender and Handed over the sword to Mitsuhide(明智光秀)'s vassal(家臣), and Mitsuhide say 'This Black slave is an animal and knows nothing about it, and there are no Japanese, so I won't kill it.' and he send to nannban temple(南蛮寺) and after that there is nothing about him. if he is Samurai or Bushi which is inportant figure, he would be killed or taken prisoner and executed. but he didn't. And Bushi and Samurai is different, In sengoku period, Samurai is high rank Bushi who achieve great success in militaly conduct, which is not applicable for his case and we(japanese people) are really angry UBI such a dishornest behaviour day by day, more and more info about UBI's evil thing is appear, and more angly we are. if you think I am lying, please search in youtube "アサクリ 弥助". @@poma5969 The only place where I can find that Yasuke was referenced by name was a book published in 2018, Sengoku Jidai Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Ieyasu: Three Unifiers of Japan by Danny Chaplin. That book is a good read but it has about as much accuracy as using Romance of the Three Kingdoms to study the Ancient Han. His writing was very inconsistent because he kept calling Yasuke the black samurai but titled Yasuke as Nobunaga's page. Yasuke was never referenced by name in historical documents. Gyuichi Ota only recorded Yasuke being presented to Nobunaga along with his physical appearance and never referenced Yasuke's name. He then spent another paragraph praising Nobunaga. The letters from the missionaries also only mentioned Yasuke being summoned to see Nobunaga and the Japanese's reaction to seeing a black man. The 2019 book African Samurai The True Story of Yasuke, a Legendary Black Warrior in Feudal Japan by Thomas Lockley & Geoffrey Girard is just plain rubbish. It is historical fiction being sold as an autobiography. The citation in Wikipedia that Gyuichi Ota's Shincho Koki mentions Yasuke being given a title, a name, a kodachi and a house came from a huffington post article. Truly, journalist are the worst.

I do wish Japan as a people were a little bit more hot-headed, but I guess that's one of the reasons Ubisoft thought they can get away with re-writing history. I was very uncomfortable watching the Assassin's Creed Shadows PV. I now understand how Westerners see Japan. I understand what Hiroyuki Sanada meant when he filmed the Shogun, saying that he wanted to eliminate the misconceptions Westerners have about Japan. By the way, even if Yasuke had been a white character, the same problem would have arisen. That's because Assassin's Creed Shadows gives us a glimpse of the racist idea that Westerners unconsciously have, that we are the most intelligent and other races are inferior. I've heard that Chinese and Koreans feel the same way about Assassin's Creed Shadows and have criticized it. It's amazing that Japan, China, and Korea, who are usually not on good terms politically, can share the same opinion. I have no intention of playing this kind of game, but I'm looking forward to seeing what UBI will do about the unauthorized use of existing Japanese organization flags.

To fabricate a stage for Yasuke to execute justice, UBI twisted historical facts, portraying the lord of Fukuchiyama Castle as imposing tyranny solely because of his association with the Akechi forces. This is a very historical game when Ubisoft is accused of insulting Japanese culture and this is an obvious fiction when Ubisoft is pointed out to objective errors in the concept and writing.

Oh, it's very "historical" ...in a way they probably don't want it to be... with all the backlash and screwups that happened. Ideally, if this screws over certain DEI consultancies for *not doing their jobs properly* (and picking fights on the web and inserting racism into games instead) and opens those guys up for a lawsuit for damages... possibly even more 'historical' in a rather amusing manner

Japanese people are also finding out that Ubisoft used many early photos from Meiji-era Japan in another concept arts from AC Shadows. Many of these photos are properties of museums and probably needs citation at least... fyi Meiji-era is about 250~300 years later than the time when Yasuke was around. I'd post a link to the info, but apparently comments with url are blocked.

The really sad part about this is, Nioh 2 made a game involving Yasuke from the feudal era, and despite the game being completely fictional with the whole demon thing, they didn't proclaim that he was a samurai. It's even listed in his bio in the game that he was a retainer for Oda Nobunaga.

It's a different thing when it comes to sporting events or a country's anniversary to use a flag. This probably is a whole different thing altogether. Ubisoft shouldn't use the flag of a rifle corps without proper permissions. It's like using real logos in videogames and anime (Tiger and Bunny as a key example) and not being able to rerelease them without changing/removing said logos and whatnot for rereleases. Ubisoft needs to cut this crap out with their constant disrespect to Japan. I hope the Sekigahara Rifle Corps are able to remove their flag from the game altogether. Permissions are of great importance and should always be a key requirement.

I wonder if it’s a good story that a Japanese slave who went to the West on a historical drifting ship became the strongest knight of the legend, played a great role in the 100-year war, saved England and France, and became the foundation of the Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution. It’s not a historical fact? No, it doesn’t say anywhere that he’s not there, so he was there.

Use of the Sekigahara Rifle Corp flag with permission could have been an uplifting and respectful nod to Japanese culture. Not everything with a historical game has to be 100% accurate, and their flags being featured are an example of something that "could have been true". What's going on with Western Game Journos crapping all over Japan? Turns out that Westerners are fleeing western entertainment in droves, and picking up Japanese products instead. It's not enough for Marxism to infect the Western Entertainment, but it has to infect or destroy alternative media also.

reminds me of a story a teacher told me when I was in school for game development. The studio he was working for used a picture in their game. A picture that just happened to belong to a friend of this teacher. Said teacher notified the correct team about how that picture wasn't open for general use and they blew him off. He told his friend and the friend sued the studio after the game released. No idea what happened after; can't remember. Most likely he won and they had to swap out the texture.
