Welcome to the Miami Boat Ramps channel. We are dedicated to bringing you all the craziness that goes on at the boat ramps in South Florida! Sit back and enjoy the show!
Ramps we currently cover: 79st (La 79!) / Black Point Marina / Haulover
We are working on adding 2 more ramps to the roster. Stay tuned!
Don't forget to hit the like button, subscribe and leave us a comment. If you don't, we're coming to steal your drain plug!

Disclaimer : We receive a ton of emails and messages from people telling us we filmed them at the ramp this past weekend and they want to know when the video will air. This is not a question we can typically answer. We film from three or more ramps every week and have a massive back log of content and sometime it could be weeks or months after an event occurs before we air the video. We put stuff out as fast as we can but we only air three videos a week and in a typical weekend get 6-10 episodes worth of content meaning we get content faster then we can air it. Thanks for watching and just be sure to keep watching looking for your content it will air but probably not immediately after it happens!

I like the ones where the captain gets the boat very close, and the others just sit there watching the dock. Nobody moves. No lines ready. Captain overboard...

Docking is so easy secure a bow line point prop at the dock shift motor into reverse and idle the stern to the dock and tie it off

I can't believe they handle these huge vessels without the assistance of Pilots and Tugs. Especially in these terrible conditions. Hats off.
@robina.jensen6114
@robina.jensen6114 7 месяцев назад
If you know how to sail, you don't need pilots. Tugs for what? Tugs are for big vessel that have bad maneuver ability. Pilots is for narrow water passage or canals. What you see here is people who have money and no sailing skills at all. I sail singlehanded my boat 32 feet, 7 ton in and out of the harbour and dock by myself.

In the current, do the stern line first and then use the motor to bring you into the dock.

Was going to make the same comment! Most all the “issues” would’ve been resolved, with stern line first.

I just don't understand, in this conditions, throw and secure a line from the bow, turn the steering wheel all the way to starboard and go astern. The boat will walk itself in without effort.

This is what makes the Bentz Boats so nice. I roll in there with duel throttles, the option of dropping a bucket and having one engine in reverse makes this little current a non-event.

Seems like how so many people there that own boats, they would know how to dock their boats, current, no current, wind, no wind, hi tide, low tide! Of course I’ve thought about drivers be the same but, and that’s a BIG BUT, I got shot out of the saddle on that one too!!
@lawrencetrapani5623
@lawrencetrapani5623 Год назад
Makes me wonder why so many unlearned people own boats! They should all have to take a boat handing course! They do this every time! When there is a current tobdeal with the captain or should I say owner should explain docking to his passengers. Makes it better for the many that know the procedure!
@johnperreault116
@johnperreault116 Год назад
I hate fighting the current but you have to drive for conditions. I'm glad I just keep my boat in a slip at the marina and avoid the cluster - - - - at the boat ramps. But, when I go to the ramps to use the pump out station, inevitably you have to deal with the credit card captains (weekenders)

Seems like often (or sometimes) the captains do pretty well getting the boat to the dock. Then has about 10 seconds before wind and current push them out of alignment. Full crew standing around - no lines or bumpers prepped to tie up quickly. Still the capts fault - have to train that crew.
@hthib9132
@hthib9132 Год назад
These boaters are struggling more with the fact that they left their motors trimmed up in the cruising position when approaching the dock than the current… the boat tends to go where you point it regardless of the current if you it have trimmed down to actually be able to steer it at low speeds…

$35,000 for boat and trailer? Check. $60,000 for truck to pull boat on trailer? Check. Thousands of dollars spent for fuel? Check. $200 for boat fenders to help prevent damage? All that money?! NO EFFEN WAY! ARE YOU CRAZY?!

These are almost too hard to watch. It seems like most of these people don’t have basic boat handling skills. They don’t understand which way to turn the wheel while in reverse to move the bow to the stern. It’s frustrating to watch. It’s also frustrating to watch when everyone gets on one side of the boat and then the captain has trouble maneuvering the boat. I know everyone has to learn but you can stop your boat put in the channel and see what the wind and or the current is doing to your boat and then make your approach plan. Only takes a minute to do that and at least you have an idea what to expect.

What's with all the people docking and tying off? Drop off a person to get the trailer and back it in, and then drive the boat right onto the trailer; done within 2 minutes regardless of wind and current.

Why do everyone there need to tie their boat onto the dock? Just drop off someone to go get the truck and trailer and come back to load up. Simple as that.

Nudge it a little.... the vast majority of these guys and the 600 horsepower behemoths on the stern, and the captains leaving the helm,,,, They make me want to stray 40 miles offshore,, as far away as I can get. Docklines out and cleated and coiled? Bumpers preset,, people with deck shoes on and ready to go? Its hard to watch. I routinely have singled handed a sailboat. These guys just don't get it.
