I don’t have a rav4 prime, but I thought the triangle at the battery indicator tells your the charger port is on that side. The triangle at the gas indicator tells you the gas port is on that side of the car.

8:20 I hear you. Toyota should show the exact percentage as a numerical display. But that little triangle is actually not to indicate the half way point. The function of the triangle is to indicate which side of the vehicle has the charging port (right side). There is also a triangle on the fuel gauge, pointing in the opposite direction (pointing left) because the fuel filler is on the driver's side (left side).

My Prius also would never default to sport mode if that’s the last mode I selected. Eco and Normal, yes. This video was released 6 months ago, you own a car that was produced in 2021. 2022 versions have USB C ports (and one USB A for wired CarPlay/Android Auto). 2023 has wireless CarPlay/AA. Seems if you want to critique features, maybe you should have a car built the same year you filmed the video.

I have watched very many RAV4 videos. I have compiled two pages of shortcomings of which many have not been found yet.

Toyota is idiot proof. I have a Premium plus with a 6 ? KW charger. But they deliver it with a 10 ? A cable.

Prime se sucks also because no lights on door buttons, and on the top sealing buttons no buttons lighting. Windows opening buttons located to high so you can open accidently windows

I also didn't like the handling out of the gate and the Eco tires on the first couple mm of treadwear are almost scary at the limits. Once past that wear in period they did improve but I still ended up getting a Cusco Rear Sway Bar and Cusco Front Strut Tower Bar which significantly improved it's handling and turn in abilities near the limits. I still plan on replacing these oem tires in the Spring with a wider tire & wheel aftermarket setup which should further improve handling more to my liking and use the factory wheels for a winter tire setup during the worst 4 months of the year. The slow charging USB-A port that you are forced to use if you want to connect with data can't even keep my iPhone 13 from dropping charge while in use which is sad. With a Level 2 charger that allows the full 3.3 kW charging speed I'm getting 15 kW charged in about 4.5 hours as it only lets you use 15 kW out of the full 18 kW battery before returning to Hybrid mode. Still I believe it would have made more sense to make the 6.6 kW charging standard and maybe make fast charging optional. Some of these cost cutting measures just don't make sense to me but I guess that was the aim of this SE model. You probably don't run into this in your climate but the heat pump performance or lack there of in temperatures below 40F is chilling. The heated steering wheel and seats make up for it to a point but I usually just start up hybrid mode below freezing because otherwise it will randomly turn the engine on anyways if you have too many heater settings going on at once. Even with the motor on I find the heat output takes ages to get going, by the time you defrost your windshield you have already driven off the road and crashed into whatever you couldn't see in front of you. They really need an optional heater element often called emergency heat on these heat pump systems for some instant heat when critical. You could easily have it turn off once the heat pump actually gives you above freezing air temps but this is something we need for safety.

Yes i totally agree with you. I'm planning on getting a Cusco Rear Sway in the future give it a little more oversteer, I have the strut bar already. I'm planning on getting a new set of wheels also, going to get some Enkei 17x8 with Falken Wildpeak AT tires, in the future when these Dunlops are wornout. The stock tire OK but nothing impressive. I've been delivering packages with the R4P lately and when it's cold like 40F and you are trying to keep the car warm it just guzzles energy and when you run the defroster it kicks the ICE on. And yes the heated seats and steering wheel are nice. I thought I would not use this often but I do. Yes I agree with the charging they should have made it standards 6.6kw onboard charger. Not everyone needs it but if I get a chance to charge at a public charging station it would be nice to get some significant charge. People believe if you charge your battery faster it will degrade the battery faster but these batteries can handle at least 1C charge and that's like 18kw, so it doesn't harm the battery at all.

And regarding the one data port, I had a Subaru Outback and both the usb ports under the infotainment center were enabled for CarPlay/AA. It was a literal PITA as my fiancé would plug his phone in and then I’d lose my connection. Thankfully there were other charge ports elsewhere in the vehicle.

Thanks for sharing your dislikes on the R4P peasant edition. I just purchased the same one in gray and found the USB charging lacking as well. Still learning of course. Quick question, would you mind sharing the brand name of the USB fast charger you installed in your peasantmobile? Am also thinking about the Cuscos in the future. Thanks again for all your videos.

No the slow charger is the best way to charge the battery because the battery will last the longest being charged slowly to Inverness you drive 24/7 you don't need the fast charger because what are you doing driving behind-the-wheel more than 12 hours a day 30 I don't live anywhere where I can plug it in it's a 120 outlet outlet or everywhere
@HadesOmega

I forgot how many time I've been sitting at a charging station waiting for my vehicle to charge, thinking gee I could have twice as much charge. "Fast charging" the battery will not harm the battery at all, because it so slow. The R4P has a 19kwh battery pack. Most battery packs should safely charge at 1C which in this case is 18kwh. So when you are level 2 charging it is only charging at 0.16C. Even if you had the 6kwh charger you would be only charging at 0.33C. The R4P battery pack is also heated an cooled so it's even safer to fast charge. Don't believe everything you hear it's SCIENCE. You aren't even stressing that R4P battery at all. Your pretty much trickle charging it can handle so much more.
@javierruiz1710
@javierruiz1710 Год назад
@@HadesOmega you made a reference to science okay then let's talk about this to science it is a scientific fact the barristers slow charge trickle chargers you put it tend to Outlast the life of the car and when they're charged at the next level up twice as fast if he will not last the life of the car
@HadesOmega
@HadesOmega Год назад
I don't how more to convince you science is qualitative it is backed up with number and I gave you the numbers. That battery pack makes no difference charging it at L1 or L2 speeds because it can handle so much more. The bigger the pack the more current it will handle. Did you know the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has a DC fast charging capability and the battery is roughly the size of the R4P? Why would they install that they think the battery couldn't handle it? Did you know all 2023+ R4P have 6kwh onbaord chargers? Why didn't they just make them like that in the first place? Because Toyota was being cheap. So I don't know how more else to convince you that it doesn't matter the charging the R4P can donis minuiscule to what the battery can handle. What matters in battery life is temperature, cycles, battery management. It's dependent on the environment you live in pretty much.
@javierruiz1710
@javierruiz1710 Год назад
@@HadesOmega okay now I'm not let me try to put it to you this way do you think insurance companies base their if policies on real numbers and science because they're the ones that say this they're the ones you're saying hey batteries will fail and burn and therefore require replacement within a specified period time based on a predictable use it's their numbers I'm going by

@pbear216

None of the Rav4s ever had an issue with not being able to be filled. That said, ALL hybrids and Primes from 2019-2022 have faulty fuel gages which do not read correctly.

Handling is vastly improved simply by switching tires. The factory tires are low rolling resistance, ie: no grip. I personally love the General Altimax RT45

The BZ4X has a higher regen mode. Toyota can do it they just didn't with the R4P.
