as a Jordanian you dont really notice these things until you miss them i guess its the small things we always remember and i can totally relate to the greeting shop owners thing :D keep up the good work , your videos are making us even more proud to be jordanian :)
I'm an American who has lived in many countries (none in the Middle East so far) but I agree that sexual harassment is basically a daily part of my life in the US and I feel safer in every other place I've been.
In fact that thing is necessary to our Muslim relatives so it would be a reminder that there's no god but almighty allah and the messenger is Mohammed " peace on him" ♥️🙏 What i mean is .. : u wouldn't know a thing about until u believe in this talk .
So what I understand from your comment is that if it wasn't for this Adhan waking people up in the middle of the night, muslims would forget that there's only one god and muhammad is his messenger ...?
@@bluecandy3133 u wouldn't understand how much important this pray to us as Muslims this special time can fix our lives and selves , if u recovered ur mind think about it , doing it with a clear mind and soul u would know
As a jordanian guy who lived in the US for a while, I totally agree with how awesome the drainage holes are🤣. I've never felt the floor clean when i used to live in the US. Mopping sucks "Shatef شطف" is way better🤣.
This is what I loved about Jordan when I was there for two weeks: People are amazing, I loved those electronic shutters on the windows(no need for blackout curtains), you could get water all over the bathroom and it wouldnt matter because of the drainage hole! Hahaha, lemon-or lime and mint blended drinks, shisha, cheap uber... I could go on and on. Definitely a fan of Jordan❤😍👏👏👏
And for those who disliked your video: how on earth could you dislike such a genuine person who speaks from the heart and you can feel her kindness, not only see or hear it.
I used to live in London and one of the things that i really missed about Jordan while i was there is the change, if i buy something for 10.05 pounds and they have to get the 5 pennies regardless, so i would pay 20 pounds bill for sake of these pennies. If this happened in Jordan, the shop keeper would definitely forgive me and i would do the same if i take a taxi cap.
You are truly amazing. Your husband must be a very smart guy to know that you are such a jewl. This is coming from a Jordanian woman. I watched this 3 times, this is how much I enjoyed it. And I for sure subscribed. All the best my dear.
I can attest that everything that you are sharing is correct. We went to live & study in Jordan (from our university in England), and I can say that without a doubt, that Jordanian people were/are the most hospitable population in the world! Actually, it took a while to adjust living back in England after spending time in Jordan. Living in Jordan was one of my most memorable experiences ever ;) oxo
I am an Egyptian living in Canada, and I totally understand and feel what you mean because it`s pretty much the same in my situation. The middle eastern culture, hospitality and friendliness are so unique and makes you feel welcomed
This is my 4th year in jordan as well, we are actually palestinian but we were born and raised in australia and we decided to come live here. You somehow find beauty in the smallest of things!, and i find that amazing plus you allowed me to value many things i wouldn"t have put a second of though into. TBH i love the uk and have always wanted to go there plus ur accent is just to die for! You romanticise everything wonderfully! keep making videos as ur really good at it and i hope u always feel welcome.
Rachel, I have been living in Jordan for 3 years already- and only from your videos I try to fall in love with this country! You are just so positive about it all the time, you always open good sides of everything- with you and your videos it is easier to cope with all the minuses here. So, when I started watching your channel, every time I was expecting a video about - absense of public transportation, dirtiness of the streets, abuse of foreign women and smth like that. But you have never mentioned any single bad thing- so it is not a surprise, that you will gain such a popularity between Jordanians- it will make them to love their country more!
Hi Anastasia, thank you for your comment. It’s exactly my intention to do that and I’m so glad that that comes through. It would be easy to complain but actually I feel like all I ever hear are complaints and that’s why I try and show things in a different light, although it definitely doesn’t always seem to get me popularity with Jordanians 😂 I hope you are settling into Jordan well and are finding things that help you feel like home here ❤️
@@MummyinAmman awww Rachel, thank you for what you do! When you talk about good things in Jordan, it does really help to look at my life here from different angle! I think what matters as well- what you want to see! If u want to notice only bad things- you will never feel comfortable!
I stayed in the Rainbow Street area and it was just so pretty. Wonderful restaurants and shops and galleries. All the different stairways...it was like finding a new adventure with each one!
Jordan is the most country that I've visited in my life in between the other countries and my country (Palestine) and it's really one of my favourites!. your videos just remind me of that beautiful country and making me wanting to visit it again. ps. I've also went to the uk before 3 months and was amazing. Liked and Subbed👌
Oh my God ! , I'm so glad that you appreciate the drain system and cleaning the floor with water ! I'm from Syria and I'm living in France for the last three years , and I've never felt good with moping the floor !! I miss those little holes in the floor 😭😭
Hi Rachel. I'm Sana' from Jordan. I've recently seen your updates abou corona virus in Jordan and I loved your way of talking about the Jordanian culture and people. Since then I started enjoying watching yor videos. Also I'm trying to develop my Enhlish accent. So Thanks alot I really sppreciate your effort.
Great video, You are making me miss Jordan. I am trying to convince my wife to leave Australia and live in Jordan but still in progress. Pray for me, everyone.
You have a lively enthusiasm As for the sewage system, it is present in almost all Arab countries And Friday also the same in all Arab countries All respect to you from Algeria
You are so sweet and I am loving your videos and always look forward to a new one! I especially like these videos where you talk about interculturalism and how interesting other peoples ways of lives are. Since watching your videos I now tell people I am raising my children to be bi-cultural which is actually a concept that you taught me!!
As a jordanian I've never paid attention to the drainage hole and it's just there.. i told my mom about you and she "ate my head" talking about you and your videos.(ask your husband about "ate my head") 😂 You're a sweet and lovely lady💚 And that's one of the reasons why jordanians being nice to you, keep going
I love Amman so much I lived in there about six years and now I have lived in England I miss every thing ESPECIALLY voice allathan called for prayer .not I am Syrian and I am just here a year and two months.
I'm a Jordanian. So proud of you noticing those things about Jordan. I like to watch you because it reminds me of what I miss. Great channel keep going 👍
i moved to united states in 2014 being away from home for 6 years i am a native Jordanian the way how you described Jordan brought tears to my eyes it just hard how we choose to be in the other side of the world like that but again i through it on god. places i advice you to visit is jerash, and um qais. too much history over there
May allah bless ya and your husband, your way of speaking is really nice, and your feelings toward Jordan are perfectly truthful. I've also seen your another video and you said sth about the language and you're trying to learn Arabic. It is widely believed that Arabic is relatively hard, however I guarantee ya that you would speak perfect arabic within 1 year if you poured an extra effort. I know what does it mean a new language to learn. I'm saying that because I am also keening on to speak perfect German and it is really hard to be fit in any situation in anytime and to have that way of thinking regarding to the culture that you are living in. Anyway best of look. Your new follower from Jordan. 🇯🇴
I really like your way in making videos, i was live in apartment in Amman but now i live in rural area where everyone has his own house with sheeps and chickens, i really miss those things you has said, it make me happy, so thank you🌷. Don't stop making videos because the best thing in life is make people happy and smiling , and you do that 👍👍
It is quite interesting that you picked up on not only the phisical things and the obvious differences but also on the small details and the spirit of the city. I am not from Jordan but hearing the sound of the mosque coming from the balcony made feel at home. Speaking of which does the sound of Azan annoy you at all? Sometimes it makes me wish I was deaf hahahha. But most of the times the guy who does it has a warm voice and it is nice. Have a good day and happy life
Well thats so nice of you talking about my beloved jo . I have been living in the uk for 3 years in Nc and people here in the north are far better than the south they are so friendly from experience i say
I like your way of how you learn new cultre , and i think the more you love the country the more quick you will learn about it , you talked about small things that realy make difference , you are so welcome in Jordan 🙂 & hope you have more interesting times in future
So funny that I used to live in certain arab countries for 25 years and had those drains in every single room but now that I live in Australia I can never go back to that, I hate chucking water everywhere and I appreciate the simple mop with disposable wipes!! So random I know but ever since I moved out it was the only thing I talk about to all my friends back in Jordan hehehe, couldn’t help but be surprised to hear you actually love the drains
Hello, I just found your channel. I'm living alone abroad and I just wanted thank you for your videos. They've drawn a smile on my face in these trying times. Hope you and your family stay safe and healthy :)
I just watch your videos and laugh so much, thank you for making me laugh and btw I’m a foreign as well in Germany, and I’m from Jordan-Aqaba and yea we don’t eat Mansaf with fish 😂
Jordan is an Arab state welcoming to everyone. Jordanians like guests and visitors like any other Arab state. We celebrate the visitors. But I can tell that prices are high here.
You reminded me when I had to ask my wife to get squeegee from Amman to Sydney. It turn out they were abundant in Arab shops here but didn’t regret since ours are way more reliable but as you said the houses don’t have drainage holes except in toilet.
Hi. I love your videos. You are helping me understand all these differences between the two cultures. I'm an English teacher and I intend to teach your videos.
The drainage hold comment is hilarious 🤣🤣 Now that you have mentioned it , my friend lives in an apartment tower that belongs to the four seasons . And around here architecture philosophy is either Egyptian or British depending on how much you are willing to spend. Obviously that tower is designed with British philosophy in mind:) and so she’s suffering from not having drainage holes in the rooms of the house 😆😆
BlueCandy :3 in Jordan we are 9 millions , Muslims are 95 %and only Sunnah ,and 5% are christians I don’t know 🤷🏻♂️ If u comment on the point that I mean , anyway If you know Islam well not as the ideas countries in Europe, USA ,Canada and others have , you will wonder of how GREAT is Islam
About that random thing with the little drains, I had the same experience however the other way around When I first moved to London I couldn't bare it that they don't have drains. Eventually I got used to mopping and sadly hanging my laundry indoor for ages to dry. I miss those times
I lived for about a year and a half in the UK, I remember when I arrived at my homestay place, that lady had a nice white carpet in her bathroom, my mind couldn't absorb that for two days, I thought it was a prank or something! :) Thanks for the nice channel, you should pay us a visit here in Karak with your family, when we are done with that Corona thing of course!
You are soooooo adorabl ..pretty.. nice ..great personality .. big welcom from your sister in Jordan ..i live in the northe of Jordan and i just found your channel ..👍👍👍👍
For your last point, it is because residential buildings are build of concrete, brick and mortar. Having water drainage would not cause any corrosion to the floor or pipes. I would image in the UK - probably like in the USA residential buildings floors are made of wood. To be honest I do miss that A LOT !!!
The keeper thing exists in many Arab countries but from my experience they are often in Buildings that are rent so if a family lives in a building they own you wont find such a thing + this is usually common in cities and not in villages or small towns.
I'm really thankful that you didn't take your first impression by the weird, rude people who are a bit common here...but anyway feel free that you're between your brothers and sisters who will be besides you whenever you need them...idk even when you said you lived here for 4 years i felt you're new😂 so, welcome to jordaaan🎉🎉💃🏻
famus sniper 747 thank you thank you thank you for addressing this! Are some of these people insane???? Why would you go to someone’s channel and talk like these creatures!!! Thank you so much for your videos and for your sweet way of addressing the insanity!
since I live in usa...I was so amazing by your description! can you tell me or show me about the whole you described for cleaning that would be in the floors? that is so awesome
Hi Rachel, whereabouts in the UK are they like that! Have to remember not to go there! I find in Canada and US they are quite worldly and open to others cultures and warm people, plus basically the North Americans are immigrants by heritage so it is very diverse. I spent about 8 years time in the UK, but it was mainly London, so it was very open and muti-cultural and many cultures mixing and languages spoken.
Friday is the day we do a group prayer its no less than 40 people and the imam goes up to the manbar منبر to speak and preach or even address a common issue in the community as a man u sit down and listen carefully these (khutba's خطبة الجمعة ) are refreshing for us every week , there are in some Mosques an isolated place for women to go and be present and listen first hand to the khutba but they are not required to attend in religion unlike to men and if u need help clarifying thins please ask away :D
